  1. Spot on. Allardyce is miles behind Ericksson when it comes to experience, working at big clubs and wining trophies
  2. Our manager will be either Allardyce or Ericksson. They both now our squad, especially Allardyce It wont take too long for them to see where we need strengthening and which players they wont use. If we appoint manager in the next week the situation is perfect for next season It just needs the manager to be good.
  3. just cos he's been here years, he should be captain?? the fact that he has proven himself incapable of controlling and inspiring the back four, never mind the whole team, is a bit more relevant i think. Which goalkeeper can do that? I doubt even Lev Yashin could have done this.
  4. Players playing poor and dont have the ability to play at the top level=sold or released Managers dont achieve results, the team is playing poor, dont have the ability to manage at the top level=sacked, released or resigned Chairman,Board that makes bad managerial appointments, dont have the ability to run the club properly, failed with managerial appointments which is one of the most important things when it comes to runing the club=resigned??? Am i missing something or what?
  5. They're defending him against hyperbole and bollocks... For instance, it's hyperbole and bollocks to say that just because they are "defending" Shepherd that they think he's "doing a good job". Everyone who loves this club knows that there are problems at every level - you, me, NE5, HTL, Freddy Shepherd, the tea lady, everyone knows something (many things) is rotten at St James' Park. But Shepherd is not the sole cause of our current predicament. Who sacked Robson after 4 games into the season when he finished 5th in the league? Who hired Souness? Who gave shit load of money to Souness? Who hired Roeder? Who promised to bring players when we had the worst injury crisis in our clubs history? Who is constantly lying the fans?
  6. Ericksson's CV: IFK Göteborg -Swedish Cup,League, Cup,UEFA Cup=treble in his first season as a coach of a big team Benfica- 2 Portuguese titles,Portuguese Cup,runners-up in the UEFA Cup AS Roma-Coppa Italia Benfica-final of the Champions league(lost against Milan),League title Sampdoria-Coppa Italia Lazio- 2 Coppa Italia,European Cup Winners' Cup,Serie A title Any of the others managers mentioned in this thread managed to win the trophies Errickson won? Or any of the other managers managed to reach the final of the Champions league?
  7. They've said nothing of the sort! What they do is consistently tell less knowledgable fans that once upon a time things were truly horrible, on a level that we as newer fans simply can't relate to. They are happy to admit that the board has made significant mistakes especially the appointment of Souness. And similarly, what they both do is remind people that Shepherd is not the embodiement of Satan himself, that despite all his media gaffes and poor appointments, he has still managed to do some good. And as HTL says - they acknowledge he can do better. Now, I don't particularly wish to defend NE5 and HTL, but you are talking shite - they do not say Shepherd is doing a superb job. They are defending him so apparently they think he is doing good job...
  8. Can someone tells me if there is a manager with better CV on this poll then Errickson's? IFK Göteborg -Swedish Cup,League, Cup,UEFA Cup=treble in his first season as a coach of a big team Benfica- 2 Portuguese titles,Portuguese Cup,runners-up in the UEFA Cup AS Roma-Coppa Italia Benfica-final of the Champions league(lost against Milan),League title Sampdoria-Coppa Italia Lazio- 2 Coppa Italia,European Cup Winners' Cup,Serie A title Im voting for him 100% And dont tell me that the CV doesnt mean anything Also to the people who will say: Souness had good CV.He maybe had but he never reached Champions league final and never won the UEFA Cup and European Cup Winners' Cup
  9. But according to HTL and grandfather NE5 Shepherd has done superb job at the club...
  10. If Roeder didnt take the job last summer after that great run i would still have had great respect for him. I think all the people on this forum will think the same Unfortunately he took it...
  11. why would you be cheerful about taylor? hes an over-rated prick And you dont understand anything about football sorry i shouldnt argue with you. after all your the person that sees the whole pitch on his tv and your the person whos probably never been to a newcastle match in their whole life Im the person who can make competent judgement about players after i watched them play IF you understand anything about football you will know if someone is good or bad even if you watch that player on the TV Saying that Taylor is an over-rated prick shows that you are not one of these people Go play with your LEGO now...
  12. Say that to the two lynatics on this forum who thinks the opposite-HTL and grandfather NE5

    Koeman?

I doubt that we are after him. Also i think he isnt that bad either. He managed to eliminate Man Utd with Benfica and also this year he eliminated Arsenal He wouldnt be too bad choice imo
  14. Huande Ramos is top manager but he is with Sevilla and i dont think we have a chance with him He would be sensational here though
  15. you are absolutely right. When we have a shit board and only 15,000 fans, he will be forced out. However, while we have 30-40,000 fans happy to pay the money for what they are seeing, it won't happen. Think about it. I realise it may be difficult. In the meantime, what do you think of the "timing" of Roeders removal ? And what do you/people think of giving the next manager the whole summer to settle into the job, or are you going to say "they should have given Roeder a chance to see if he started next season better" Nowt surprises me. Oh, and Ameobi is back and so he may have succeeded mackems.gif You sound like we should be thanking Shepherd that he sacked Roeder Fuck the fat pig and the people who supports him. Its his own fault because if he appointed the right man last summer we shouldnt be in that position right now. Also its his fault that the club has gone massively backwards after the sacking of SBR The only way i will forgive him is if he appoints the right man now, supports him 100% and gives him enough money in the summer for transfers. Thats the only way Shepherd will remove the black clouds that are under him. And one more thing NE5: Can you tell me where are these people who will say:"they should have given Roeder a chance to see if he started next season better"?? I support the club, not a person, from a seat in the stand since 1992, and for nearly 30 years before that, from the terraces. Nobody is denying that the last 2 managers have turned out to be bad appointments, but Roeder may have worked, however there is nothing wrong with NUFC that the next manager won't cure quickly if he is a good manager. And the reason for that is that it is a good club geared for success, unlike the club that the current board found that it replaced back in 1992. This is not difficult to grasp. The proof is in the history books, and the league positions and the performance since. I realise you haven't got much of a clue about this, and it isn't your fault so I'm not having a go at you for it, but a half decent idea would be for you to go and study them before thinking what you say is correct. Did i say something incorrect in my post? Also the fact that im not aware in the events before 1992 doesnt change my opinion what is happening at the moment Im blaming the board=Shepherd for what he did after SBR was sacked. After that our club has gone backwards enormously. Back when SBR was manager we were in the top 20 clubs in the world sharing similar positions with Liverpool(we were on equal money). Now Liverpool are something like 40m infront of us.Thats because of our failure on/off field. Now even clubs like Tottenham,Everton,Aston Villa,Portsmouth are close to us not to mention that Tottenham are in quite more positive condition as a club atm compared with us. The board has made quite alot of vital mistakes in recent years and they need criticism for their incompetent decisions
  16. typical of Baggio and his ilk to think that the current board have ruined all the decades of trophies and success we had before they took control. Those were the days when we always appointed trophy winning managers, kept all our best players, bought all the top players at the right price at the right time and never made a bad signing, ever. What exactly is the point you're making here? I can't see it. Can you explain how your reply to Baggio's post challenges anything in his post (which I thought was a lucidly descriptive and incisively critical post, by the way)? I'm surprised you ask this. Because you aren't an idiot like some people on here, and the majority of people who post on toonspastic. The simple fact is that the post by Baggio is a typical comment he makes, as he constantly appears to lack a grasp of reality, in that he thinks that every other club except NUFC have DOF's, appoint perfect managers, buy the right players for the right fees at the right time, and win loads of trophies as a result. So take the comment as you find it, which basically is a well deserved piss take. At the end of the day, only 4 clubs have qualified for europe more than us over the past decade, which in a nutshell makes his apparent view that Newcastle United cannot do anything right, and all the other top clubs do things better than we do, all the time, to be an absolute and complete load of bollocks. Unless of course you can produce some league positions, and facts to show this to be incorrect. The comment "2 of the worst managers the premiership has seen" is typical of the bollocks he has posted, which i replied to. For starters, count how many clubs have finished below us in the last few years. And consider the fact, that some of his chums on toonspastic backed one of these "worst managers the premiership has seen" for the changes he made at the club until the day he left, and STILL insist he was right to make such changes. I think you ought to really be challenging such inconsistent and daft views mate, rather than picking up on an actual factual statement by me Dont you agree that the last 2 managers shouldnt have been given the job? Dont you agree that our club has gone massively backwards after the sacking of SBR? Dont you agree that it was Shepherd's fault that he hired Souness at the time and backed him with alot of money? I think Baggio is blaming Shepherd for the time after the sacking of SBR not before that. Because after that started the regression of Newcastle United Football Club thats quite a lot of questions from someone who has yet to reply as to which angle he views the action that he bases his view of the team on ? Despite being asked by 3 different posters. Im watching newcastle united games on TV so what... Alot of people on this forum cant attend every newcastle game and watch the team on the stadium And to reply about the question you and the others asked me. No i havent watched the game against Blackburn But i watched enough games this season to make my conclusion that our defence is shocking and its in this condition for quite a long time.Yes we need another striker but we need defenders urgently. So can you answer my questions now: 1.Dont you agree that the last 2 managers shouldnt have been given the job? 2.Dont you agree that our club has gone massively backwards after the sacking of SBR? 3.Dont you agree that it was Shepherd's fault that he hired Souness at the time and backed him with alot of money? 4.Why do you think in the last 2 games we played we didnt score goals although we played with Martins and Owen? 5.Are they not good enough strikers for you and you want someone else? Please im waiting for you answers on all questions
  17. Benni McCarthy for 2.5m is the transfer of the season imo We need manager who is capable of finding these kind of players

    Pascal Chimbonda

Very good football player Obviosly he is pretty stupid as a person if he really said this
  19. why would you be cheerful about taylor? hes an over-rated prick And you dont understand anything about football

  21. Pure speculation imo And USA have just hired new coach
  22. People who thinks he has resigned are fooling themselfs He was sacked by the board and he said he resigned so he can take most of the blame on his shoulders not the board for appointing the wrong man again. So that way Shepherd can say:Glenn didnt handle the pressure after the poor season but i was willing to give him next season.
