Wow the number of injuries we are having are crazy, we must be amongst the top 3 in the league. The problem is more acute for us as we have a paper thin squad thanks to the superb January transfer window of massive reinforcement! Guess it's Ameobi and Lovenkrads for the rest of the season then

Fair point. We don't really have a fast counter-attack in our locker and that needs addressing. Not sure about that, the whole move unfolded in a couple of seconds quite far up the pitch after a mistake by Wolves. There was no time for many people to get forward, we did brilliantly to exploit it so incisively. Fair enough, that goal wasn't the best illustration of what I was getting at. I just feel we often don't get the ball forward quickly enough when an opposition move breaks down in our half. I'm not talking about a long ball. I'm talking about players getting forward quickly into space and an accurate pass meeting those runs. In Sir Bob's side, with the likes of Bellamy, Dyer and Robert, we could really hit teams like that. Basically, we lack pace in midfield at the moment. Our only real box-to-box player, Nolan, isn't one for fast breaks. Maybe why HBA has been identified by Pardew as possibly playing as a second striker next season. He would provide the pace outlet very well down the centre. Don't know about Cronky but I was referring to more than just pace (though that would be welcomed too). I was referring to movement of our players when we get a break, at times some players just don't seem interested and move into positions when we get the ball on the break, pisses me off when we have players just watching what their team mates are gonna do when they could be part of the move had they just made a run.

Or maybe they do and just hold a different opinion to you? Crazy I know.

But if you think that men who wear pink shirt are all faggot you should open your mind lol It's not the jumper, it's the way he wears it. And earrings are for women. Two microphones is gay anyway. And what is the way he wears it But i agree with you, men shouldn't wear earrings, it is for women ! Personnally i hate men who wear women "things". But i know ben arfa and he usually doesn't wear like that ! Anyway, he plays good football and that is the most important !

Not sure about that, the whole move unfolded in a couple of seconds quite far up the pitch after a mistake by Wolves. There was no time for many people to get forward, we did brilliantly to exploit it so incisively. You may have a point but I thought after Colo got past his man, there were more than enough time for others to join the attack. Instead all he had was Ameobi standing there waiting for the ball, Barton who was running and Lovenkrads who was actually in an offiside position and who didnt even try to drop back so that he would not be offside should the ball be played to him. Where were the rest? I don't expect them to all end up in the penalty box, but I would have liked to see some effort and attempt to provide Colo with some options Again after Colo passed the ball to Barton, you can see Ameobi just sort of watching the ball from outside the penalty looking disinterested instead of making a dash into the box. It's possible that some were in fact making runs and were just outside the camera angle I was watching, but I think that is highly unlikely given that the angle was facing the goal and covered a large part of Wolves half.

Sweet! Thanks. Would it be wrong if I said that he looked slightly gayish in that link with his pink top?
-
I just managed to catch the goals just now and the third goal was mint due to how Colo beat his man and played Barton through. Not to be negative, but what struck me with the camera view facing the goal is that after Colo passed the ball to Barton, the only players making any sort run was Loven and Colo himself. Ameobi was just trudging along watching the ball and all other midfielders (at least those in view) were static. That's kind of sad, it if was any of the top teams, you would see 3 to 4 players making a mad dash to get into the box.

Can we s****! I hope he breaks both his legs the f***ing c***. Let Me GUess, you are still booing your eyes out every night because we sold Andy Cole.......... There is a massive difference. Andy Cole wasn't a Geordie and din't move because he wanted to anyway, nor did we need to sell him. He was sold because the manager wanted to change how we played and that meant replacing Cole in the team with a new striker. He was too good to be a squad striker and worth too much in terms of resale value to be sat on the bench. Mind I was personally devastated when we sold him, my first footy and Toon hero. As for Carroll, he can go and f*** himself. I hope he amounts to f*** all in his career. People rant on about Carroll as if he left us on a free transfer! We made £35m out of him. He also fired us back in to the Premiership during the second half of last season and his goals this season maybe the key reason we stay up this year. We turned down bids between £20m to £30m. At what amount of money should have Carroll been sold before people don't moan about him leaving? or is there no amount? I said all along I wouldn't sell him for any money. I support Newcastle United the football team, not its bank balance. 'Moaning' ffs, I couldn't give a f*** what we 'made out of him'. I did make a point about his contribution over the last 18 months as well. I would have been happy if we rejected the £35m bid and told Carroll to stay. I guess some people move on faster than others, but I can't be bothered to waste energy moaning about him leaving still or hoping he "breaks his legs" or "never amounts to anything" at this stage. It's just a tad pathetic I think. I won't take any pleasure out of seeing him do well at Liverpool, but I'm more than happy to see him do well for England. Also saying Carroll should not leave for any amount of money is just naive. Your saying you would turn down £100m? £200m? I appreciate this may be a bit of a loaded question, but if Pardew goes out there spends some or all of the £35m and we bring in forwards that fire us even higher up the table next season, would that make you care less about Carroll sale? Everyone is entitled to feel what they want about the sale of Carroll, I rather he wasn't sold, but I'm not going to say bad things about him and his career now or in future. We should move on. I completely agree regarding the wishing injury on him etc, I've never done that. Doesn't change the fact that I'd rather he was still playing for us and no, no amount of money would change that - money doesn't score goals. Of course it would be a lot easier to move on if we had a good replacement and were looking up instead of worrying about relegation still but that's not the case. And if anyone doesn't have any doubts over whether the money will be spent I'd question whether they've even followed the club over the last few years. For a start, bringing in a striker of any repute will bring the associated wages... which we don't pay. I have my doubts especially given some of the vibes we've been hearing from Pardew but I'm not gonna be stupid enough to say that no money would have been a good deal until I know for sure that the money is not gonna be spend to strengthen the team. Every player has a price and 35M is a fucking good deal for Carroll, provided yes we spend majority of that money to strengthen the team.

Give over, the only reason Adam is still at the club is because of a fuckup getting the paperwork signed. There was no valiant fight to reject Tottenhams offer. I gather from that, you disagree? Take it up with Redknapp: we missed out by minutes... ...the chairman couldn't get hold of two shareholders who had to sign the forms as well. It's just one of those things." I think it's naive to suggest that Blackpool didn't put up a fight to keep him. Holloway, Jan 20th: "Charlie has signed a contract and someone can come in all they like, but it's not his choice and it's not their choice. He belongs to us and he is contracted for 18 months. "You have to behave with respect and not all players do that sometimes, but that is the way the game is. "I think he is still improving, I think he belongs to us and if someone wants to offer money, I think they are wasting their time because we don't need to sell him at the moment." Pardew, Jan 17th. They can put together whatever they like. He is not for sale. I am going to say it for one last time, he is not for sale, Holloway stuck to his word. Pardew did not. Man, we're going full circles with you. The point made was that Blackpool did not sell because of a fuck up in the paperwork not because they were holding on. You then countered this by showing some quotes from Holloway as proof that he wanted to keep Charlie Adam. When presented with a similiar quote by Pardew on Carroll you go back to the fact that Blackpool did not sell the player. The next response would be yes but that's only because there was fuckup in the paperwork. Do you see where this is going?

No it's not. Ibrahimovic has done all of that and is still only considered a 24m pound player, even at his height when he left Inter he cost £40m. Do you honestly think Carroll will achieve half of what he has? I bet he'll have less league winners medals than Alan Shearer. Would you actually put money on that, or are you just trying to add a little emphasis? Barring career-ending injuries, Carroll will dwarf what Shearer achieved, whether we like it or not. Can you quantify what you mean? By Shearer's achievements do you refer to his trophy with Blackburn or do we include the number of goals he scored overall, including golden boot awards, his goals for Egland and being top scorer in a major tournament (Euro 96)? That post would go lovely on his Wikipedia page, wouldn't it? He'll achiveve more than Shearer, as I said. He'll win more trophies and probably score more goals at international level. I have no idea what wikipedia has got to do anything? More trophies possible, largely because Shearer only has one and spend majority of his years in a team that was not fighting for honours. Really doubt he can beat Shearer's goal per game ratio though, highly unlikely to me unless he improves his other attributes by leap and bounds in the next few years.

Revolutionary. That is a huge differece, not that I'd expect you to see it. The title implies (and as Otter explained in his OP) that the only criteria we use when buying players is whether we can sell them for profit regardless of whether or not they strengthen the squad/first team. That I (and most others) would have a problem with. What Ian was saying is that the resale value is one of the factors that we consider (along with other factors including the team's needs), that is a sensible policy which should be supported. Whilst it is easy to speculate that Gosling, HBA fit into the first model, I would argue that the likes of Colo and Tiote (to a lesser extent) proves that we are indeed looking at what is needed by the team as one factor (although I've gone on record saying that we did very poorly in January, not because we sold Carroll but because we didn't have a replacement lined up). Frankly nobody knows the thinking behind our transfer policy, we are all speculating and whether we perceive it as good or bad depends largely on our pre conceive notion of Ashley and the board. A lot will be answered in this summer. If we don't strengthen the team sigificantly come end of the next transfer window, then I will hold my hands up and join the cynics bandwagon (except that by that time, it won't be cynical anymore, but a proven fact)

I think Tiote did get a pay rise when he signed his original contract only a few months earlier. It still reads as one pay rise this season, the same as Carroll got. Agree with Jonny, how is it double standards when the two situation are different? Tiote signed with us and got a pay rise. Carroll already had a pay rise 3 months before he was sold and asked for another 3 months later. Very different Plus even if it was not said, i'ts logical to infer that the amount involved was a factor, if Carrol had asked for a 1k pay rise, do you think the club would have rejected his request?

Where is this 'support'? And this minority that 'don't mind the team being dire'? I can't see any serious poster like that on here. Yup I would like to see some proof of the existence of this minority as well. There are of course those who support the sale of Carrol for fuckig 35M and is going to judge how that money is spent in the summer but that's far from "don't mind the team being dire as long as Ashley's accountant is happy" The problem is those who are even remotely objective or balaced are classified as Ashley fans. It's natural for a forum that on a variety of issues, there will be different views by different members some critical and some in support, but I've yet to see anyone on this forum (serious or otherwise) who thinks Ashley can do no wrong.

He obviously hasn't been on here. What? That's the general running theme of this forum It's like the f***ing Mike Ashley fan club on here at times man.
