It's a spin because you take the worst possible scenario and present it as fact. There was no guarantee first of all that we were gonna sign him at the end of the season, and even if there is nobody knows whether this is money taken from end season kitty or just Ashley deciding to be a bit more generous in January (without affecting the end of season funds)

I thought that description better suited Taylor
-
nobody knows for sure, but even if it is, still fantastic deal! Dave man, why do you try to put a negative spin on things?

Just for laughs and taking inspiration from Micky Owen's efforts, let's see who can come out with the best advert to sell some of our deadwoods. I'll go with Alan Smith, but you can add Loven, Best, Xisco, Campbell...etc Alan Smith - Extremely committed, willing to get a yellow card for the team...every game - Flexible and dynamic, can play as a striker or midfielder - As a midfielder, not the type who tries to fanny around with Holywood passes, keep things simple and ticking with short passes and willing to slide in on every occasion - As a striker, not the lazy continental type who just scores goals, in fact he will track back, tackle and defend from the front - Played with Man Utd so knows what it takes to be a champ, promoted with Newcastle in championship, so knows how to get promoted - Captained Newcastle, captain material and possess strong leadership values

I would take Bentley, Keane + 17M

I see no shit (full stop).

TBF, slowly watching your mother sodomised by Mike Ashley would be better than watching us in the relegation season. completely unnecessary No s***. All he had to do was invest a little and back his original manager. I was referring to the sodomy analogy
-
I can remember quite rating him at West Ham, not sure why now like! same here

Well if we go down on the back of selling for 30mill then its not a good deal We won't go down if that 30M is reinvested back into the team, especially now with Barfa back from March onwards

Why are you taking things literally, he was just exaggerating the point that Barton will always be in the team...come on
-
why?
-
That would work! im playin that on fifa. Are you any good? Tell us how it goes so that we can have an informed discussion
-
I can definitely understand the sentiment and that is unquantifiable but why would we not improve if we got a more complete striker and use the money to get 1-2 more players?
-
Hahaha, calm down Dave. Seriously, I think that could work. In sensible format it would be: Barton Nolan Tiote Gutierrez Ben Arfa Carroll But Nolan with licence to get forward unmarked (what he does best), Ben Arfa with licence to roam and create (what he does best) and Carroll up there to hold the ball up and/or play those two in as runners. We still have width, with good quality in Barton and the, er, running power of Jonas. It's a settled, reasonably balanced midfield which we know can get results, and our best striker up there causing mayhem. Ben Arfa then slots in and is simply told to be creative and not have to worry about working back. The one thing I would have concern though is that if both HBA and Nolan are to be 'runners', this puts a lot of pressure on Tiote defensively. Barton would need to come into the middle when we are defending to give Tiote some reenforcement coz we know Nolan is gonna do fuck all defensively.

Think we would be limiting his potential influence if we play him on the left wing, plus I like the Jonas + Enrique combo. Like I said Jonas will play better with a ball playing midfielder next to him coz he is not the typical English byline crossing winger.
-
Why stupid? It's a 4-1-4-1 which some continental team plays. Nolan and HBA can swap positions during the game to play off Carroll. Actually I kind of life this formation except that I would put HBA as the midfielder next to Jonas.
