He provides a lot more to the team than goals. I am fully aware of that, but he's not a deep lying playmaker if you will. That's why I would expect a better goalscoring record from him, especially last season as didn't he fail to score a goal against a top team in the league? Still think he's a cracking player mind.

On what evidence is there to base this on? For what the obvious? Answer the question Parky. On what evidence are you using for your judgement that Shearer doesn't have good insight and understanding of the modern game? Well he hasn't even had one coaching job yet. Coaching badges aren't all their cracked up to be as we are witnessing with SA. What evidence do you have that he does posess the requred knowledge...? Yeah I thougt so.
