  1. If anyone's likely to complain it'll be Mido tbh. I was sat just a few seats away from an Asian lad who didn't know what do to with himself when the terrorist chants were aimed at Mido. The chants, after all, were purely down to the colour of his skin. Unless of course I've somehow missed the story about Mido being investigated by the police for making homemade roadside incenduary devices? To be fair, i would say it's down to where he's from rather than the colour of his skin. He's not just a Brit with middle eastern appearance, he is from a country known to be a terrorist hotspot, a country which the home office warn you about visiting. I'm totally against racism, but i did not think that was bad - not that i was singing it. There were a fair few singing that, but 'Mido is a paedo' was much louder. I actually thought that was quite funny, and he must realise it was just because it rhymes. I hate the 'packet of sweets...whoever is an Fing paedophile songs' etc., but i thought 'mido is a paedo' was much more light hearted and really didnt even expect him to be bothered by it. It happened alot more because of his reaction too. Erm, the 'hotspot' you describe has been through more bombings FROM terrorists than exporting terrorists, and they're not one of the hotspots Bush and Blair have had in mind when it comes to terrorism. So yes, the chants were ignorant, and yes, they WERE that bad, regardless if he was from Iraq, Iran or Guantanamo Bay (well, now that might be a bit more interesting).
  2. Did a lot better than the three defenders we used on the other flank . But yeah, we really should move him up to midfield, we need balance up there, and creativity, Milner isn't Messi.
  3. Not that anyone would care, but came across this when trying to do some research for my Fantasy team: http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=190594.0 Dear Reds, First of all I'd like to apologise for not having been back in touch sooner, but I needed to take some time to take on board all the recent changes and then to put down these words for you. I'm sure you will understand. I would rather this be a letter of thanks and gratitude, not simply a goodbye. Yes, thats right, gratitude, because that is the word that best sums up my feelings for you all. Taking the decision to change clubs hasn't been easy. Not easy at all. I've experienced three fantastic years at the club and in the city. Three years in which together, the fans and the team, we have accomplished some fantastic achievements, and I'm sure that these successes will continue to be repeated in the near future. You know that I like a challenge and that I don't just settle for second best. Back then Liverpool Football Club gave me the opportunity to be part of an ambitious plan to put the Reds back at the summit of the game. I think that together we managed to achieve that. As I said, I do like challenges and in spite of the fact that at that time I was playing for my home town club, one of the biggest in the world, I wanted to be a part of that project that was being presented to me by Liverpool, and so I accepted the challenge. Now, after three seasons in the Premier League and having won some major trophies, the chance came up for me to return to La Liga and be part of a new project at a club I already knew. The idea of enjoying things in a Spanish club like we experienced together at Liverpool over these last three years appealed to me, and thats why I accepted the offer. I want to thank everyone working at Liverpool Football Club for how well they have treated both my family and I, making us feel at home from the very first day to the last. I also want to thank the management, coaching staff and directors for the opportunity they gave me back then to be part of such an important and well-loved club as Liverpool. A club which has helped me to grow as a footballer and where to date I have enjoyed the biggest success of my career. Without a doubt, this success has been possible thanks to the outstanding group of players with whom Ive been able to share a dressing room over the last three seasons. I'm not going to mention anyone specifically, because I think that the secret of this team's success has been exactly that: nobody wanted to stand out above the rest and there has always been a great togetherness in the squad, which made it into something more than a group of players, it was a group of friends. Thanks to all of you for your help and your friendship. I've left until last the thank you which for me is the most important: Thank you to the supporters. Your support allowed me to settle quickly at both the club and in the city, and you made me feel really at ease with you all right from the word go; that's the kind of help that you notice most of all during the difficult times, of which there have been a few during my time here. I'd like to especially thank you for making up a song for me and you should know that every time I heard you singing it, it was like an extra injection of strength and motivation, even helping me to overcome pain occasionally during a game. Your unconditional support is the thing that ensures that this team manages to pull through in the most difficult circumstances; and I can assure you that the whole squad is aware of this and thanks you for it. A football club isn't just made up of players, coaches and directors. More than anything else it's the supporters who make a club, and that perhaps is the ingredient which best distinguishes Liverpool Football Club from every other team. The supporters. Because if one thing has remained obvious to me after these few years, it's that with supporters like you, Liverpool Football Club will never walk alone. I really hope that the club wins lots of major trophies in the future; I'll be following it all from a distance, with the pride that you can only get from having been a Red and played for the home team at Anfield – a ground that every football fan must visit at least once in their life. Thank you for everything. Yours most sincerely, Your friend, Luís García Cheers Luis, thanks for the memories,
  4. This thread's unreal. Keep'em comin', lads.
  5. Got roasted for saying that the other day.
  6. This. North American sports are at least covered by Journalists. Maaaaaaaaax Bretos! Before you say anything, you can't help but grow to love him. (While at the same time wanting to break the telly in a murderous rage)
  7. The Long Throw was BS's main offensive threat during his Bolton tenure. I was hoping to God he wouldn't bring it over but he has. Oh well, I find myself fuckin' looking forward to them now, sadly.
  8. agree. personally i don't think any of our midfielders were awful, just that they're the same type of players doing similar jobs. chelsea would be shit if they had three makeleles in midfield too. Aye, there's some truth in that. I don't think they were helped by the players in front of them (Milner aside). Viduka looked well off the pace and Martins was a liability. Owen played through the centre and Zog on the other side and we'd look a bit more balanced. The strikers were a liability? lol, that's the first I've head of that today. Did you actually see the game? How much in terms of service did they receive? Your earlier comment was spot on, as was johnnypd's... 3 Makelele's don't win you games or create opportunities for flatfooted strikers to score with. No, I said Martins was a liability and Viduka was off the pace. Are you mental? I am. I wasn't nitpicking but you seem to be. Ad verbatim, yes, you said Martins was a liability. Please describe how, when all four strikers we used today -- three internationals -- did the same amount of work (zero). Are you agreeing with me? I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Owen looked totally unfit and possibly scared, Martins was Martins, Viduka looked like a fat old man, and Shola was Shola. I AM agreeing with you. FFS, I'm saying it wasn't just Martins, but all of'em, but I'm blaming mainly the midfield, tactics and formation for that, not just the strikers. I think BS would've learned today not to try this at home again, especially with Emre and Barton returning.
  9. Why not use him in an attacking role for home games, since we already have enough DMs to put a home crowd to sleep? He's far more hungry, aggressive and eager than Viduka looked today, or any of our other strikers did today in fact, and we all know he can put the ball into the back of the net. I hope this is realised when Barton (also not a particularly potent 'attacking' force, but a driving force nonetheless) and Emre are back. Also, Beye Faye can play both DM and CB.

  12. He whinged and moaned and fell over, but not once did he control or hold the ball passed to him. What else is Martins supposed to do but drift down the left wing, or go wandering looking for the ball? Stagnant, stagnant, stagnant. Needs to lose weight and quickly. We all know he's capable of a lot, lot more.
  13. Tayls still looks suspect for me. Got away with one when he was easily dispossessed with his back to the center circle.
  14. wot crime did you commit to be put inside? I've been in and out of jail all my life, but i have also been a total toon supporter all my life and all i've ever seen is players being paid silly money to do fuck all on the field,i'd do anything thing to be paid that type of money, but these cunts just take it for granted. Get with it. We all do. Nobody is moneybags on here. And while I agree with your sentiment, the problem today was tactics, let's not forget. The players didn't just lounge about.
  15. I disagree totally about Martins. He'd completely disappeared from the game in the second half. We started the second half slowly as a team though. If Martins dissapeared then what did Owen do? Viduka was just as shite. But to lay the blame on the stirkers is rather high and mighty when we didn't have one creative midfielder running through the middle of the park.
  16. Good You've gotto be kidding me. Viduka's been fuckin' s****. I'd rather leave Martins on as at least he can turn the game in a moment and run for Owen. Just me typing this as a response to that comment has been a waste of my time. Yer, Owen and Martins would be a great partnership Just me typing this as a response to that comment has been a waste of my time.

  18. They've legally taken the ball off us in the middle of the park constantly this half.
  19. You lot are well ahead of me, my thing's a good 30 secs behind.
