Fabricio Coloccini signed from Deportivo La Coruña on 5 year deal
OzzieMandias replied to Cronky's topic in Football
So he misses out on the training session? Weird. Yeah, but is this a real training session or just a bit of fun with the fans to be topped of with the intro of Colo? When will you guys understand that they are waiting for this thread to reach 150 pages before they confirm the signing? Not long to go now. -
It's like trying to read one of those Google translations.
-
Phew! For a moment I thought he might have returned as defensive coach.
-
Why's it irrelevant?

Can't say I'll be sorry to see Shola go and be replaced by a better striker, but some of the shite he gets on here is ridiculous. Our worst player ever? He's scored about one in three, and is our second top scorer in European competition. It's not like he's never contributed anything to the cause.

What does that mean, then?

Glendinning is a mackem, I have heard. There's a better way to approach the Guardian than by emailing that clown. The Guardian have a "readers' editor", a sort of ombudsman character: http://www.guardian.co.uk/theguardian/page/readerseditor It's maybe worth assembling a dossier of clearly biased stories and unjustifiably negative presentation. Today's story is a good example, as it goes. Keegan "appearing" to know nothing about transfers becomes "fact" in the headline -- club leaves KK "in the dark". We'd need a few of these to make a case, but it would be easy to do because they really are biased. If Glendinning is emailing back insults, this too would help make a case, providing the emails to him didn't set the tone or sink to the same level. It would need quite a few really good examples to make the case, and the case would need to be made quite carefully, but I'm willing to bet it would get investigated, causing Glendinning etc some trouble internally, if it was done properly. -
Zero chance of finding one where I live. I'm going to have to get my brother to send me a copy.

If all else fails, I bet you'll get it at the Central Station.

Staggered payments for players is often how clubs sign people. What's the problem with having money outstanding on players we bought? It's a question of how much money, though. The larger the sum, the less to spend on players in the present and future. This is quite a considerable amount -- twice Roeder's net spend. I guess SJH could see that Shepherd was running out of financial breathing space.

Come on, only another nine pages of this thread to go before the official announcement. -
If it works, don't knock it.
-
It's a bit better than that. We're accumulating talented youngsters with an eye on the future first team.

Did he mean that there is still £27 million to be paid now for transfers before he arrived, or that this was the amount owing on transfers when he took over?

Just to log my agreement with Niall and Biffa on the stand-naming issue. Bobby was a great man and a loveable man, a good enough manager to have us overachieving for a handful of seasons at the end of his career. But even if he'd never spent that time with us, his reputation was already made through his achievements at Ipswich and other clubs, and as manager of England. A stand bearing his name would make sense at Ipswich, but not at SJP, and we shouldn't let sentiment about his apparently imminent demise obscure that fact. Joe Harvey -- our longest-serving captain as a player, and our longest-serving manager by some distance, took us to consecutive FA Cup victories (1951, 1952) as captain, got us into Europe for the first time as manager and won the Fairs Cup on the first attempt. I'd be happy with a Joe Harvey Stand.

Here's the whole thing: I guess the first part is just what she read in last week's Sunday papers, but the quote has the ring of truth about it.

Well, there's plenty even on here who will lap that negative shite right up. -
Why don't you get a sense of humour, you self-righteous, whinging muppet?
-
That's a new angle, blaming players for staying fit.

We all secretly address Dave as "Mein Fuhrer" and do this funny kind of stiff-arm salute when there are no moaners about.

"a" good player huh? i'll take that as a singular, beat it... Aye, the thread's about "a" player. Scraping the old negativity barrel with that one, weren't you? dude, know your audience, i ain't about the old/new board...just chose to pitch in for NE5 and you referred to one player therefore i replied about one player, does that still make the thread title relevant? Yeah, it does actually. You criticised me for talking about one player on a thread about one player. That, as I'm sure you'll agree now that you've had a minute to think about it, is pretty dumb. Dude. -
