Aye, a few words from Jose are likely to make all the difference to their thinking. They are living and breathing this situation every day. He's saying far less than they will be amongst themselves.

Until anyone criticises him on Twitter, then he starts bragging about his money...

Demba Ba?

Jose Enrique is a pretty tall full back, that worked out well. Apologies if posted elsewhere, but saw this on a LFC forum. Read it and wept... 1 on 1, Enrique's very hard to beat. Happened only 9 times last season, compared to A. Cole (38), Clichy (26), Baines (24), Evra (23).

Get a grip man..Of course he'll improve the squad..He's amply proven that already. That's why we need the money for Enrique, so we're able to buy a PROPER replacement. Besides, if he wants to sell the club, he'll get much more for it if the squad is full of prospects and is fighting in the upper tier of the table. From this perspective, he got every incentive to plow the money he earns from player sales back into the team. Nurse! NURSE!! The anti-psychotics please....

Mark Douglas does that, in my book.

T The Chronicle (or NCJ Media) still makes a very handsome profit - around £8m last year I believe, although staff cuts have helped maintaon that figure. One thing I'd say to those slagging the local papers is that they are still way better than most up and down the land. You only need to look at the Sunderland Echo to see a truly dismal local paper totally beholden to its football club. It's unreadable. Douglas in particular is a good writer.

Jose could be one of the best lb's in the world - even the best - if he went to a club where he would get top coaching and constant warnings against faffing about in his own penalty area. Instead, he's going to a club whose last left-back signing was Paul Konchesky and a manager who once signed Carl Serrant. This is a sad day for Enrique as well as NUFC.
-
Can I have a shot of whatever you've been injecting? He had to go..Although the club probably has not been competent, a line as to be drawn. He's a professional, earing more money than most dare dream of. If he disagrees with how the club is run, use the proper channels, instead of posting stupid tweets .. "The club probably has not been competent", "barton's replacement"... admit it, you're mainlining. Either that, or you have battered wife syndrome: "Mike will change, I know he will."

I was actually in the thinking that he may be trying to model us on Arsenal who clearly are the only PL club to turn a profit, that's what thinking does for you eh He's a business man. He sees success as his company making a profit I think he's clever enough to realise that he'll never make a personal profit from NUFC though, he's just trying to limit the amount he has to spend on us. And in so doing, he has already cost himself a shedload of cash by overseeing a relegation. As things stand, he risks doing the same again.

Looking back over the last few pages of this thread is proof of how much certain people exaggerate the significance of pre-season friendliest. Raylor a better rb than Simpson indeed...

Aye so much so they accepted a bid from us. Said who? Nixon......

Not sure why people should be on their high horse re Bassong when N'Zogbia - who most on here wanted back - behaved no better.

He hasn't deleted it, and he is still satisfying his dellusional mind with bullshit that some people believe. He had the front the other day to ridicule someone who reckoned they had a contact at the jesmond Dene House hotel. That's Colin, who pretended to be out with Kenneth Shepherd and his girlfriend a couple of weeks back - and she tweeted it was utter bollox. The night before, he'd tweeted a pic of Kenneth Shepherd's car. It wasn't Kenneth Shepherd's... Truly pitiful that people are still asking him for info. I'm still waiting for the player he said we'd signed almost three weeks ago to appear.

Old news that, I think. Be surprised if Douglas wrote it.

No shit Sherlock...

Chelsea also linked, along with Malaga and a few others? Sounds like it might be an auction...

Thailand knock-offs of the home shirt available now. Quality looks decent.

Bangura already knocked down?

A bizarre mish-mash. Trying too hard.

Just cannot begin to imagine why Sturridge would come here on anything other than a loan spell.

This. The only thing which would make Upson worse is if you gave him Woody's hamstrings.

They all have names on their boots these days. Kids in my sons' teams have their names on their boots. Or are you being ironic?

Martin Samuel is a hugely talented writer. Sad to see him trot out such lazy journalism.
