I'm not a Pardew basher but his inability to get the team playing from the back is a concern. He won't keep his job if he persists in playing Allardyce football with a team increasingly made up of French footballers used to technical football. I'm being generous in assuming he's not got good enough full backs to bring the ball out, but his GK is kicking balls long to the centre forwards as well. And as Tooj pointed out in another thread, Swansea have worse players yet still managed to play nice attractive football.

It's down to Pardew to instil the passing philosophy really. Keegan might have had his faults but he was meticulous in how he got his teams to play the game. It really does come down to the manager.
-
To be fair, I don't think it's moronic to say that he's been garbage while here and that is all that matters. I think we'll not see the best of him until he's playing alongside somebody like Ben Arfa who will bring something different to the team. I think Ba has been unlucky so far in that he's been playing with players who are too similar to him. At least I hope that's the reason because he's our best hope of playing a decent forward out of the ones currently at the club. I would agree with this. While I agree he hasn't looked good, you don't get a record like he's got unless you know how to put the ball in the net. I think he is one of those strikers who needs to be playing in a team which provides better service to feet. If he'd been playing the second half he'd have scored when we were creating so many chances.

I think once we start to get the team filled out with players who are comfortable on the ball we'll start to get goals through decent movement and passing rather than relying on a defender to score from free kicks.
-
Nice free kicks but one of the main reasons our football is so shit at the moment. He hoofs the ball forward at the first sign of pressure from an attacker. The sooner he is off the team sheet the better.
-
I think he'll be a good un tbh. Once we changed the personnel in the second half and got some ball players on the pitch he livened up quite a bit. Obviously he looked a bit lost when we were trying to play Scunthorpe at their own level with the ball being thumped towards the corner flags.
-
He's picking teams to play long ball football. I don't know if that's because he thinks the full backs are too shit to bring the ball out so he instructs them to whack the ball downfield or he just doesn't understand that passing football starts from the goalkeeper.
-
Laughable to think he will be part of our senior squad while Vukic could be loaned out. Get a clue Pards you fuckwit.
-
Can you imagine a Keegan team playing football like this? It really comes down to Pardew in the end. He isn't clear enough in his direction.
-
One of the reasons why we didn't keep possession of the ball in the first half was because of the poor footballers in some key positions. Ryan Taylor and Simpson in the full back positions were awful on the ball and Gosling and Lovenkrands in midfield were similar.
-
I think Pardew is in danger of being found out this season. One of the basics of passing football is for the goalkeeper to throw the ball out when possible as this keeps possession and you can build from the back. Krul is whacking the ball down the pitch every time and that's because the manager hasn't told him otherwise.
-
He did overdo the tricks a few times but he's young and confident. Let him iron out his mistakes and we'll have a gem of a player. Our football improved 100% when him and Sammy came on.
-
He was. He was decent but nothing more. I'm not sure he's viewed in terms of his relative importance to the team, but I'd be worried if you're relying on him to score consistently. There's more chance of him scoring consistently than the other strikers. But he looked very basic I will give you that.
-
This. A different class of footballer if a little raw.
-
He was poor but the football in that first half was terrible. Think he'd have looked better with Sammy and Vukic in the midfield when he was on.
-
He looks like another Nolan. Very poor footballer who has the knack of getting into goal scoring positions. I know it was his first game but he just doesn't look comfortable with the ball.
-
Obertan instead of Lovenkrap and that team would have been mint. Hopefully Vukic will come on for Gosling at some point.
-
This is where he'll score his customary goal against crap opposition which will keep him in contention for another month.

Like Man U and Chelsea haven't been reported for tapping up players. Come off it man all clubs do it. Charlton should take the money and use it to get their shitty dressing rooms painted. Wolfsburg's Diego's agent said the other day that the player had agreed terms with Atlético, despite the fact they haven't agreed terms with Wolfsburg yet See? Reality bites Charlton. They should thank us for the publicity never mind whinge about getting money for a keeper who will walk for free next season.
-
Shola surely won't be playing? Can't wait to see how Ba gets on either as a lone striker or with Best.

Fuck Charlton. Hope the 100k they lose out on cripples them financially in a years time.

While I like Van Aanholt a lot I'd much rather we tied up a permanent deal with whichever LB we are going for seriously. If we can't do a deal with either Pieters or Cissokho then definitely Paddy over Bridge any day of the week on loan.
-
Suggests that any proposed transfer is actually no closer to happening than before. Great. Or that the deal might be closer but until the two clubs reach an iron cast agreement PSV will keep playing him.
-
That is true..But the point is that we're getting better value for money with the likes of Cabaye and Peters. That enables us to reinforce in other areas of the pitch, hopefully.. Seen nothing of Pieters but I'll be amazed if he's better value for money than Enrique. So would I as Enrique is a class above most. I'm sure we could have got a lot more for him if he hadn't only had a year left on his contract. On the subject of Nolan I banged on enough about the tub of lard when he was here so it doesn't surprise me that the Hammer fans are quickly moaning about the same drawbacks.
