I don't usually go along with the "media have got it in for us" stuff but this isn't the first article Samuels has written about Newcastle and they are always in the same vein. It really rankles with him for some reason that we are still perceived as a big club while he supports the most odious club in London. It's not so much the 60k I have a problem with, it's the fact he'll apparently go to the club which offers the highest wage. If that's his attitude I would prefer he went elsewhere.

Why? I can't see Ashley spending that much dough on transfer fees and wages. From the noises coming out of the club we are going to be making a few more signings and even if the fees aren't astronomical the salaries still mount up. It all depends on how much Ashley makes available at the end of the day though.

While I'd love Sturridge here, I don't think we'd be signing all these players if we were going to spend £20million on him. Add to that he's on much higher wages and I just don't think it's realistic. I think Pip's suggestion that we grow the squad year on year is more workable.

Ryan Taylor's got fantastic delivery tbf. If you could just get him to the corner flag with the ball not moving too much and no opposition player within 5 yards we'd see a highly effective player.
