maybe after asking him and examining him they thought he was fit enough ? Well they were proved spectacularly wrong. Again. many players carry knocks and niggles into games......should we only play those 100% fit ? we'd need a squad of more than the regulation 25. i don't know what his injury was like going into today (well yesterday) do you ? I know Graeme Souness used to rush players back before they were fully fit to save his own hide. Steve Taylor is one who comes to mind when he was coming back from a dislocated shoulder. Shola playing in a mask is another if we come back to current times. I said this in the Ben Arfa thread earlier this week that I am glad he is in France otherwise he would probably have been out there today alongside Ireland and Gosling. All crocked to the max as things stand today.

Why was Enrique given the go ahead to start this match only to limp out early on? If he isn't fit, why the fuck risk him?
-
All that proves is that you know fuck all, since plenty of people in the Leon Best threads have made this point before knee jerk time.

I'm amazed that you can spot that, but not the fact that one of your favourites Nolan does virtually nothing in midfield. The only reason wor Kev doesn't get booked more often is because he isn't anywhere near any opposition midfielder in the first place.

Liverpool haven't had a "passing game" for ages tbf. Is that so? How did Torres score so many goals then? Was he in the right place to receive the knock-downs from Stevie Gerrard with whom he combined so successfully?
-
I was all in favour of this deal at the time because when he's fit he brings mobility, passing and goals, a combination which isn't found in many of our midfielders. That said I was hoping that he just needed a fresh challenge rather than being a precious twat who does all his talking from the sidelines. By the time he's fit (if ever) it probably won't matter.

Liverpool are already having the same problem we have had with Carroll in the team, and that is everyone is tempted to hoof the ball long and look for knockdowns. The Dalglish destruction of Liverpool's passing game has begun.

the comments at the bottom are class that they are this one in particular making shit up mr bruce? I don't know about that. Bruce has a fixation with us as can be seen by the signing of N'Zogbia and chasing our targets like Kilgallon and Larsson.
-
Not Stoke vs Newcastle So you are expecting him to be a big impact player this week against Stoke then Stu? I can't see it myself but it's a great opportunity to show the critics what's what.
-
injured a lot? This plus potentially raising people's hopes and his career finishing peaking after a handful of PL games? He's still got the potential to be Shola's apprentice At least he hasn't got a pot belly like your hero in the avatar.
-
I think we'll get beat. The way to beat direct sides like Stoke is with speed and skill. We are short on both and we aren't going to win the physical battle.

what's important is making good decisions general, is it not? it is, posting that someone backs off all the time when they don't is a bad decision. haha, i dunno like. i've seen him do it an awful lot, with my own eyes. I've seen him do it so he ends up on his own goal line saving the ball with his hands like a 2nd rate goalie. I'm not really sure how he could back off any further than that without getting on the metro and heading back home.
-
Why bother? All it suggests to me is that Dalglish is hunting bargain buys or has a pathetic obsession with players we are chasing similar to Steve Bruce. KIlgallon? How did that one work out Brucie?
-
If he was a shrewd businessman and a fan he would probably have bought Newcastle for a relative pittance when we got relegated and useless wankers like Barry Moat were being touted. But then it's all relative. Maybe at even double the price it's still a pittance for the likes of him and now as a premier league club he sees something he can work with.

Milner was nowhere near the player he was at Villan hence he wasn't realising his potential at this club. Carroll was nowhere near the teamduring the souness/roeder days, N'zogbia is the same as milner and Krul hasn't really proved anything yet. Im nopt one of these taylor fans who's blinded by his avergaeness, my only point is that ive seen good enough performances in the past to suggest that there is a good plyer in him, in the right circumstances, and ive pinpointed those circumstances beingdown to the roles he's playing in defence. Milner and N'Zogbia were exactly the same players for Newcastle. I can remember seeing Milner for the first time against boro and thinking what a great prospect he looked. The blame should go on our array of shit managers after SBR who thought the team revolved around the Butts, Duffs and the Smiths at the club and failed to use the younger players to their full potential.

Shepherd and Souness certainly showed the players and Bobby Robson how tough they were in negotiations. Bombing out pacey troublemakers like Bellamy, Robert and Bernard and bringing in economical superstars like Owen and Boumsong. No one pulled the wool over their eyes, no sirree.
-
That one quote sums Souness up. If it wasn't his player he felt the need to prove he could go out and buy better. Enjoyed reading the article though, it brought back some good memories.
-
I'm glad he's in France tbh. If he was over here chances are he'd be rushed back prematurely and we'd have another Dan Gosling/Stephen Ireland style breakdown.
-
true.............so ? He hasn't. Not in this league anyway. your saying he hasn't looked ok when he's played in the prem ? He backs off from players who run at him. No doubt he'd be fantastic against Kevin Nolan but how does he cope against quality forwards running at him?? I've seen him end up on the goal line as a secondary keeper in a lot of those situations. right so, as a centre half he backs off too much and lunges in too much............don't belive the hype kidda, watch the game and be honest. It's called lack of football intelligence. I'm fairly sure he was described as the white Titus Bramble on these pages going back a few years. He makes Bramble look like Woodgate tbh.
-
If that's true he's gone up in my estimation 50%. He'll go up 100% once he signs some fucker who can play instead of him.

Seems like Ireland is just a complete twat. Starting to remind me of "sick note" Darren Anderton from Spurs a few seasons ago. Makes me appreciate the likes of Colo and Tiote even more.

So are Citeh, and Chelsea and ManU. Many managers have been able to splurge massively over the years, but it doesn't necessarily mean success. It has worked for Fergie and Mourinho because they know what they're doing, but it didn't work for Hughes or Ranieri. Souness spunked £50m at SJP and was a complete disaster. At our place, Hodgson spent £24m in one transfer window and took the side about 50 steps backwards... I agree that having had a metric fuckton of cash to spend is certainly an asterisk next to Kenny's achievements at Blackburn, but it absolutely doesn't warrant dismissing his contribution to their success. Perhaps Kenny is that type of manager that can only do a good job if he has lots of cash to spend, but relatively speaking we are one of those clubs. Would Blackburn have done so well with Hodgson at the helm? Would they fuck! Why did Liverpool hire Hodgson 20 years later then ?
