Agree. Tony Pulis very good ? I guess it all boils down to semantic. Personally, when I look at the premiership table : Carlo Ancelotti, Alex Ferguson, Rafael Benitez, Arsene Wenger - excellent Martin O'Neill, Mark Hughes, David Moyes, Harry Redknappe, Sam Allardyce, Roy Hodgson - Very good Steve Bruce, Alan Curbishley - Good Tony Pulis, Owen Coyle, Roberto Martinez - unproven but seems good Phil Brown, Mick McCarthy, - not so good Gary Megson - Rubbish Gianfranco Zola, Amvan Grant - not sure Allardyce is a shit manager. Hughton would have every chance of putting out a side which would take something from Bolton. Likewise, Megson, Pulis, Zola, Coyle, and Mick Mcarthy are all equally mediocre no marks. When we upgrade from Hughton the problem will be identifying someone who will make a positive difference not just come in on a bigger wage and do an even worse job....which a lot of managers are quite capable of as we should know with our disastrous history of appointments.

In all fairness we had a lot more delusions of grandeur when that lot were put forward as managers, we are a different club now with far lower expectations. As an aside though, Hughes is thought of as a big name but what has he achieved in reality other than wear impressive suits and look thoughtful? Like lots of managers the hype is far greater than the results.

When all's said and done, no one else has shown enough desire or cash to buy out fat Mike. It's galling that a fat cockney wanker seems to want the club more than anyone else but there it is.

I think his Man U form will end up putting an end to his World Cup dreams as he won't score enough goals against premier teams however many he notches against inferior sides in the cups. If Man U fail to win the Championship, Owen's lack of meaningful contribution will be seen as a massive drawback.

I'm resigned to life under the current regime for now. It would have been nice if someone had bought the club but obviously no one was willing to take a risk on promotion and now the price will be higher so can't see much happening. At least we aren't heading for financial crisis like some clubs, even mighty Liverpool are heading for the rocks if they don't qualify for the CL, and Man U are paying debilitating interest on their loans.

Look at some of the managers. Couldn't care - I think your current squad would survive, if you keep the momentum you have from going up. That was my point as well. The squad is crap but when you look at some of the managers in the Prem it's laughable. Zola? Avram Grant? Megson?

He will but it will almost certainly be too late. Whatever minimal funds are made available will be spent on players who aren't good enough if his ability to spot a loan signing is anything to go by. Which loan signings do you consider a flop then? Simpson? Harewood? Pancrate? Harewood has been poor as has Khizanishvili. Pancrate isn't on loan btw. Pancrate isn't on loan? Well done for pointing out that relevant information. It's relevant to you saying he is like. Equally well done to you of course for choosing that part of my answer to disagree with. How many times have you watched the other 2 I mentioned & come away thing either of them played well? I would love to answer that if I could work out what it means

Out of interest, who do you consider a top flight manager?

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Nile-Ranger-is-an-example-of-how-football-can-change-lives-says-Newcastle-boss-Chris-Hughton-article252645.html Sounds similar to Hughton's softly softly approach with Carroll. Why would either Nile or AC change their behaviour when they know they can get away with it?

4 goals, and how many assists? How many times has he played the lone striker role in his appearances this year? He has done it well all season, he holds the ball up better than any one of our forwards. It's what you need away from home. Does he? He's generally looked fairly clumsy when I've seen him, Ranger looks the best at bringing other players into play for me. Carroll is a handy battering ram but he doesn't link so well with other team mates for me.

Don't think so, Hughton hasn't got the convenient excuse that this is an away game so will find it hard to justify playing two defensive midfielders. Bit of a puny excuse in away games as well mind, but that's another matter.
-
Hughton has no chance, simply because he isn't good enough. Neither are most of the managers working in the English league at the moment. The ones who are actually astute enough to make a real difference you can count on one hand. Most are prize pillocks. Megson? Allardyce? Phil Brown? All plying their trade in the top division and earning thousands for their "knowledge".
-
Why does it bother you if he's here to provide an extra option, are his wages coming out of your pocket?
-
We both know that'll never happen though (new manager) unless JFK headbutts him or some shit so he's physically unfit to manage. If we get a new owner I'd bet they'll bring someone new in as manager. We won't get a new owner, that boat has sailed.

We're going to drop points at some time and at least we didnt get beat. The form of Barnsley over the last 10 games is higher than 9th too since they changed their manager. Could have won it on another day but could also have lost it if Harewood hadnt got that second goal. Sense of perspective required. When I said 9th I should have added bottom to that. This game was just like so many before, our midfield is overrun on a regular basis and we started the game with Smith, Butt and Nolan which has as much pace as a two legged dog which puts us under so much pressure. Didnt even check Was just trying to highlight their current good form. Guthrie instead of Butt is what most people want to see but i've seen many games pass Guthrie by too and he isnt exactly pacey. Since we've been lucky to win many games this season it seems a bit churlish to single out anyone for dropping a couple of away points against an in form side. First off, Im not complaining about the result or anything. I agree with what you're saying about Barnsley being an in form side and it being a decent result etc. But the Guthrie point, whilst true, doesn't really hold water when the alternative is Nicky Butt. I've never been a fan of playing two holding midfielders, it didn't work for the oaf Souness and while we won on Wednesday, I don't think it works now either. It's just a crap idea.
-
Guthrie wasn't picked when he was available, in fact he's played very few matches in the centre. I know, and its daft. Id love him back in the middle. If he can't get in the side when Barton and Nolan are out you have to wonder if he's got a future here tbh.

Fuck, what a weird picture. It looks like one of those 17th century Dutch portraits where the whole family have their noses in the air and you can tell the painter really thinks his patron is a cunt. Ashley's gf looks pig sick. Or it could be sick of the pig. Either works really.

Back from where? the hairdressers
-
Think that's fair enough. Should have held on after Harewood's goal though. We did all the hard work.
-
He's supposed to have played very well along with Taylor according to Moncur. Considering the midfield stopped after the first 20 mins they did ok really.
