I'm sorry but the thought of that glorious left peg slumming it in a division where no one can hit a cow's arse with a banjo just doesn't bear contemplating. I'm with Calimag, this is a guy who was a symbol of our last decent side that was good enough for Champions League football, I don't really want to see a shadow of the man at this level.

Exactly. IMO, we couldn't compete with other teams in midfield with our combination of old/slow central players. Probably the same weakness will still be there if we get promoted this season.
-
I voted Ranger because although he's not scored yet he's the only one who looks to me to have a chance of being a quality Premier striker. The rest might be ahead of him in the pecking order but apart from Carroll they aren't going to get any better.

She's right about one thing, there isn't a queue to buy the club and there wasn't back then either. No one with serious money has made a bid, all we've had are mystery consortiums with dubious PR spokesmen and Barry Moat.

Robert is the exact opposite of Jonas. He's quality in the final third with with great delivery and a decent goal threat. Does nothing going backwards though and we wouldn't be keeping clean sheets if he was playing. In this division and with this team I think it would be a mistake. Say what you like about Jonas but he's a team player and I'm not sure Robert's work rate would go down well with the lads we have here.

They look like a better Footballing side but also a softer side then us with less quality individuals. I also thought we did well at their ground, they were the team at home and they couldn't beat us despite their goal being quite lucky. West Brom pass the ball better but we are far tougher as a team. We can pass the ball at times, and we can mix it with the more physical sides like Leicester and Sheff Utd if need be. We lack a bit of pace through the middle otherwise we are the best all round team in this division.

been a shop assistant and gave as i got as i do in my present job. no-one should have the right to have a go at anyone else without getting some back. you should think about what you are saying. paying entrance to a footbasll ground gives you the right to call someone whatever you want and that person can't say anuthing back ?....what bizzarre folk we have in here. seems like theres a few in here want to have a go at someone but if they retaliate will run off screaming like a three year old girl who's had her crayons pinched. ps you'll find coppers will ofetn give as good as they get, then abit extra. I could probably agree with that to a point, but there's a limit. Adebeyor got stick for celebrating in front of the Arse fans which was perfectly justifiable considering the fans were clearly a bunch of abusive cry babies. In Joey Barton's case though he's failed to learn a thing and is a wilful repeat offender so I really can't be bothered defending him. if someone tells him to fuck off then in my opinion he's well within his rights to tell them similar back. If he just told them to fuck off then fair enough...but he tends to start swinging fists which is where it starts to get complicated.

Pretty sure that's all we're going to give him at best, I don't think Hughton is daft enough to think he'll work at a higher level. If he gets a few goals and we go up, job done. i can't see him being kept beyond his current loan period. (at the moment that is, if he plays better and gets more goals before that loan is up) He might bag a few goals in the run up to Christmas, if he doesn't then he doesn't deserve to stay longer. He does offer us a different type of striker though so Hughton might want to hang onto him for that reason. Carroll, Ranger and Shola are all similar and Lovenkrands isn't an out and out striker.

Maybe he was just too ordinairy. An even shitter version of Jenas perhaps?

Use whatever stats you want, the guy has been absolute garbage up until the last game. He did well in the last game & i would give him another start to continue to prove himself. But to already start heading towards claims of him now being one of our best strikers on the basis of two decent headers in a game where even lovenkrands managed to get one is laughable to say the least. In reality you backed him from the start & now you have the slightest bit of evidence backing up your initial opinion you're hammering it home as usual, regardless of how weak it is. He's been crap. While I agree Harewood has been pretty poor, he has shown glimpses of what he could do. He played well alongside Ranger for 15 mins in the previous game, and he looks better when the ball is played to feet which might be why he was more effective alongside Loven. Anyway, I quite like the idea of having a mobile front pairing so I wouldn't mind them having another start together.

There seems to be a great atmosphere amongst the players, Hughton probably deserves some credit for that, maybe more than he's given at the moment.

How come our two local heroes Shepherd and Moat are silent? If the club is over-priced they should come out and explain why their bids have been too low to win the prize. Is the prize not worth the price? They will have signed confidentiality agreements. The club has been taken off the market, do the confidentiality clauses still remain in place if that's the case? I'm not even sure that Shepherd has been part of any bid officially. That would usually be the case. So Shepherd did make a bid then?

60k is a week's wages for Barton so i doubt he'll be too bothered. Especially since he gets paid to watch the tv at home most of the season.

Harper is solid enough, and he's a decent shot stopper. What's the big difference with Shay Given other than he's far more loyal?
-
If NUST ever manage to buy Newcastle United I think they might be in for an unpleasant surprise about how many "petty" red tape, rules and regulations they have to comply with.
-
They reduced it(allegedly) for Moat. Nobody else. I don't doubt for a second that if anyone else came up with around £80m in hard cash then he wouldn't think twice about taking it at the moment. I doubt the price is still £80m. The boat has been well and truly missed IMO. Moat, Shepherd, USA backers and other bullshitters can all fuck off as far as I'm concerned. Any serious bidder would have bought in before this point. Why the hell would Ashley sell up now when the table shows up all the would be bidders as a bunch of penny pinching cowards?
-
You obviously haven't met Ronaldo, then? The guy who stuck up for Coloccini? I'll bet he's eating humble pie right now....

I wonder if Shola's actually any good, I was at a wedding for the hat-trick game so didn't see the full performance (obv seen the goals) but he was as s**** as ever against West Brom, I was laughing at full time with the lad next to me about how he wasn't even good enough for this league. Obviously he's a god mind. he was really bad at west brom like, i'm sure it was he that booted harper in the head and harper went off. that said he did well after that until his injury but he could have had 5/6 in his hat trick game iirc It was him, yeah. I remember thinking his movement was woeful in that game, whenever someone was looking to put in a cross he never did anything to lose his marker, just ambled into the area. He looked like he could have played for a month and never scored that day. I don't think Carroll does anything to lose his marker either, there again both are target men for the main part so don't really think that's their main requirement. Lovenkrands and Harewood are probably the two out and out strikers who you would expect to be getting loose regularly from their markers, Ranger, Shola and Carroll it's more about what they provide for the rest to play off first and foremost.
-
Marlon and Loven probably got thrown together by accident rather than design but it did mean we were quite mobile up front, might be worth starting them again for a couple of games, I reckon there's more goals in the partnership.
-
Of course it is because most of the games he has played he has had his back to goal so he has the more options to pass than the other strikers who tend to go towards the goal. Put it down however you want but his hold up play has been excellent when he's played, I don't think any of the other strikers have shown the same ability. Back to goal or not, you need to be able to bring other team mates into the game as a target man so it's not a bad quality.
-
Carroll's link up play with the rest of his team mates is hit and miss, whereas Ranger's the best of the lot in this regard. If he can start scoring goals h'll be the best, until then probably Shola.
