Sam Allardyce was a decent manager in theory before he turned up here. It's only when you see them close up you realise their limitations.
-
That's the other thing...he's such a tosser.
-
Why bother? Might as well stick with Hughton, maybe he'll turn out to be an average manager. He got them to Europe on a shoe string. Roeder did that with us. One season at one club doesn't really prove a lot.
-
Most managers are over-rated and fairly shite tbh. We just end up paying them a fortune to wreck our club.

He did ok, they were dull as dish water to watch.

How's it going for the players who left Newcastle?
TRon replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
They we part of the 'we' in most cases. Obviously not counting Milner. Well, yes, obviously. They were part of a much bigger, fully-functioning shitmachine, and were integral in the 'turd wheels', so to speak.I don't bear them any ill will though. Even Owen? tbh he's the only player I'd actually enjoy watching fail. The rest I'm not all that arsed about. I'd also would like to see Bassong fail tbh. He left us but without us he would maybe still be in French playing in their 2nd league or sth. like that. He's not going to fail though, he's a class centre half and we saw that pretty early on when he was here. -
Hughes won't be cheap and he's proved fuck all really. Why pay more for less?
-
No. When people say he's a proper manager what do they mean by that? He built a workmanlike side at Blackburn and hasn't excelled with a great squad at City. What I call a proper manager is someone like Roy Hodgson. There's a guy who has proven his credentials.

Good point. It really is just shit management. First Souness who never had a clue since the day he was born and then Fat Sam with his genius long ball tactics with players who were bought for passing football. -
We need a thaw overnight, if it stays like this the games off I reckon.
-
He'll do well to start any games for Man U in the near future I don't think England's a concern for the little cunt right now.
-
I'll bet Radio 5 phone ins are jammed with furious Manchester supporters slagging Owen. Who'd have thought that?

TRon replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
Very true, and the reason for the lack of decent central midfielders for the last 3-4 years is directly down to the managers not recruiting properly. Souness and the Fat Sam are the main culprits although both sued the club for money after destrying the squads. -
Hughes is another in the long line of Prem managers who have built a reputation on very little substance. His side at Blackburn was solid and reasonably effective in a dull sort of way but really he's just another thick former footballer in a suit.

Probably. That and being surrounded by better players obviously helps. Playing alongside someone like Danny Murphy is probably a lot easier than the statuesque central midfielders he was with here. -
Would you extend Harewood's loan until the end of the season?
TRon replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
I'm a big Ranger fan and while I would like to see him starting a few more games ahead of Marlon, I would still prefer Harewood in our squad rather than one of our promotion rivals. I'd quite like to see him in one of our promotion rivals' squads, means they'd only have 10 players on the pitch. Quite a stupid response really. -

The only reason for keeping him as things stand is that he's already here. So we've got someone better lined up for January then? Brilliant news. Promotion is a dead cert then surely. -

He was starting to win me over until he did that. Moron. Yeah, it's a bit much when the cunt showcases your ignorance publicly. Get rid ASAP. -

If a tightwad like Ashley has agreed to pay his wages then we can obviously afford them. -

I'm still not convinced about Milner wide right although I think we made all our wingers look a lot worse due to having no driving midfielder or a forward with good aerial threat. But considering our problems in midfield I'm surprised none of the managers thought to give him a match or two through the middle, he's definitely got the tools for the job. You have to give MON credit for actually earning his money and doing his job.

Shame the game's on BBC, if it was Sky we'd be making sure it went ahead. Don't think beeb's fistful of dollars has quite the same motivational effect.
-
We already have too many players who can do only half a job. Nolan can score but can't run, Smith can tackle but can't carry the ball, Jonas can dribble but can't cross and so on. The best teams are usually the ones that have quality footballers. The best example is Man U. Now that Ronaldo has been replaced by a whingeing moocher their game is going to suffer.
-
The best scenario all round would be a Burnley victory on Sunday, that way McCarthy will have damaged his own side more than anyone else with his daft tinkering. I know lots of the big sides rest players but they usually still think they can win games, it's hardly the same as the abject surrender which McCarthy did.
