He has the motivation as he must realise it's his best chance of getting a decent move. A goal which saves a season is worth 10x your every day goal. Throw in Viduka too then tbh. They are both very much in the shop window and a vital goal could be worth millions to them personally. Coming to something when we're relying on our players to play well purely to earn themselves a move away from the club though. Viduka has been playing out of his skin for the last few matches though. Owen hasn't, his prime energy seems to be fighting lawsuits which might spoil his next move assuming anyone is still interested.

to be fair it's mainly down to the injuries that weren't his fault No it isn't.

Out of all those players you mention there including Bramble, Parker was the only one I was happy to see go, and that's only because I was fed up of seeing him start in the same team as Nicky Butt.

Was just thinking about how Shearer's team talk could be about how any player could go down in legend like David Kelly for saving the club. Then when I tried to work out which player it could be I realised most of our lot couldn't give a shit.

It'd get a bit congested on the left. could play ginola through the middle as he did play there very well on a couple of occasions. thats one of the reasons he gets my vote. he was more affective than people think because he took the pressure off our defence when he got the ball in a way robert couldn't and i just think he caused the opposition more problems than robert and was much better to watch. kept purely to stats robert probably edges it. I could never understand why Ginola wasn't used through the middle more at the time, especially during his season under Dalglish. He was exceptionally creative although he was guilty of showboating too much at times. i'd watched a bit french footy before he came here and he never really played midfield but seemed to play up front and very wide, the way stoichkov did at barce. what some on here don't realise (possibly cos they only have the tv to go on due to age and yes i know opinion between even those who waqtched both live is split) is the way the pressure dropped off as soon as he got the ball in a way it didn't with robert. it's very hard to quantify and explain beyond i watched them both live and i'd take ginola everytime. In France he was played off the front man I believe, although I didn't see any French football to verify. He was definitely a more gifted footballer than Robert and I saw both live and I know exactly what you mean about how he could take the pressure off when he got the ball. In fact I'm not even sure the team keegan put together got the best out of him. Robert though had a magical left foot. He didn't influence a game as much rather than change it's nature violently with one swing of his left peg. Fantastic crosser of the ball from open play as well.

strange as i thought the song was about walking away from a pointless fight. You need to take the original meaning out of the song, and put the context of our relegation battle as the meaning. Called imagination What's the betting that SKY will kick off the programme with a movie compilation to that song?

Leeds have quite a proud history and I they had a very passionate support base. Elland road had a cracking atmosphere when they were in the Prem and I think the top division will be a better place when they return. Just my opinion though, I don't expect everyone will agree.

I realise there are other fans gloating on message boards and on the media sites but they always come accross as pathetic to me, that's why I have no desire to be like them. Some of you who are saying we aren't a big club might ask yourself why it's such a big story for them in that case? I can guarantee there'll be plenty tuning in on SKY Sports 1 on Sunday to see if this club (which isn't a big club apparently) goes down.
-
I should add though I would love it to see Sunderland go down...it was mint the last few times. But then I'm not sure they count as a big team anyway. Even their fan base is only relatively big because they try and ape us in every way, sad bastards.
-
Owen it is then. It covers pretty much the whole squad tbh. touche, sadly.

If it wasn't us in this position but someone like say, Man City would you take pleasure in it? I know a lot of people on this site were wanting Spurs to go down for example. I've always felt regret when I see the likes of Leeds going to the wall and I would like to see them back in the Premier. Similarly I'm always rooting for Wolves to bounce back up, and to some extent Birmingham (sorry brummie). It's easy to gloat but for me playing against the bigger clubs is/was what it is all about.

The thing that does it for me isn't what Shearer (or Dowie) has said, it's what Kinnear hasn't said - the guy is renowned for shooting his mouth off, and spouting utter fucking tripe about everything. If he knew he was coming back, you bet he'd have told the press by now. If he wasn't sure, he'd have probably said that as well. The fact he's said nothing says to me that we won't be seeing him as manager anymore, you just know he'd have come out with some Billy Liar-esque quotes if there was even a 1% chance he was coming back. Or maybe Ashley and Llambias have told him to keep his mouth shut until they know what division we're playing in next season. Billy Liar? Jesus it sends a shudder down the spine thinking back on the collection of buffoons we have had running the club this season.
-
I'd like it to be Enrique as well. I think Viduka might get it though and I'd be delighted. He's been a liability for two years but the fat waster has run his heart out since he came back into the side.
-
I am in a similar mood, I've started coming to terms with the fact we might be in the Championship next season and the one positive I will take out of it is that a mass clearout will mean I won't have to suffer watching this shower of shite dragging our name through the mud any more. Hell I might even start enjoying football again. That is assuming Ashley either fucks off or lets Shearer rebuild properly.
-
My biggest concern is whether we will be able to handle Villa's pace and power...not that they always use it effectively mind. I suppose one thing we have got going for us is an inspirational manager. I feel far better going into this game being led by a strong character like Shearer rather than a wet sponge like Sbragia or a complete tosser like Phil Brown.
-
I don't know why there's a price of £8-10m being bandied about, why would anyone pay that when they can pick him up for a free at the end of next season? He might want to leave but we should make him stay, on a new contract if he agrees on his current one if he doesn't. We aren't going to get an offer which will make it worthwhile selling anyhow.

I know it is, but as opposed to struggling to be brilliant consistently, he looked as though he just wasn't pulling his finger out. If he just upped the work rate and effort, who knows what could have been? Can't live with "what ifs" man. Not a personal dig, I just hate the whole philosophy. He was what he was. If he did have the attitude/application to go with it (at all times) then he wouldn't have been playing for us in the first place... Still think he was fucking ace. the thing about him tracking back was bit flawed, because robert was at his best on the counter attack and tbf i would want him in the final third of the pitch, as he could score from almost anywhere and could create chances no matter what, robert always put in 1 very good cross / through pass a game which would create a great chance he got 24 assists in 1 season ffs that's probably more than this whole team Agree completely, we've got a guy who tracks back very diligently in Jonas but i doubt that's worth as many points as those assists and goals. Just look at the league table.
-
You said we were all happy when he got the chance (and missed it) and then said that was the reason we lost the game. I did understand what you were getting at, but written in the way it was looked a bit odd - basically saying we were happy that he was on the pitch to miss a chance... which then cost us the game. It's just a daft post/belief anyway, though, because who knows what might have been had Lovenkrands started? Obviously you can't say for sure either way but the result might not have been a loss, which was obviously the worst possible outcome (oh, as well as our player of the season getting sent off). Just because Martins fashioned himself a couple of chances (which he missed, for fuck's sake) during the game doesn't mean we wouldn't have had chances had he not played... if Lovenkrands starts then the entire game is different and maybe, just maybe, we wouldn't have lost. I think that's what TRon was getting at (and it's also my belief). I don't believe Martins is fit enough to start, I said that before the Fulham game. Lovenkrands might work, he might not but at least you'd have the option of Oba on the bench, and I reckon he's got more chance of making an impact in the last 30 mins when the game is more spread out.
-
I wonder if we'll buy players to get us up like Nolan for example, or go for younger players who will improve? If it's the former we'll need to re-build again assuming we get promoted, as it's clear the Prem is too quick for a lot of our shot to shit players. Ironically they'll probably prove more effective in a lower division where they belong.
-
I think I'd like to see Martins come off the bench again. So that leaves Viduka, Owen and Lovenkrands as the possible starters if I was picking the team. That's what should have happened against fulham and I think it cost us. Martins for the last 30 mins can be really destructive, and I also have a feeling that Lovenkrands and Viduka would work well as a pair. Im pretty sure we were all happy with Martins being on the pitch early when he ran though and smashed a clear chance against the post. Thats what cost us, not him being on the pitch. Is it just me who has read that and seen the contradiction? Impressive in a 2 sentence post! Better prepare for a 10 page refutation of that statement Rich.
-
Do you really find it staggering though, considering what manner of dickheads the people running the club have been proven to be time and time again? Dickheads is one thing but to go out of your way to mislead people about something which didn't even need to be brought up is just pathetic.

We only seem to care in the second half, this was particularly noticable at stoke. He needs to work on his pre-match talks. Or pick 11 players who he thinks will care enough.
