Well, being on the dole, he's obviously in a position of strength to make such demands.

To be fair, most people on here at least seem to recognise Taylor is fairly shit, apart from Northern Monkey who is a psycho. A lot of us were annoyed that Faye was allowed to leave as well but that's history now.
-
Nothing wrong with the article as long as people realise it's just someone voicing his fears. Until more becomes clear, no one really knows if the bid is genuine yet, including the writer of that piece.

I think it's unfair to blame the fanzines, everyone was a little....hectic a couple of weeks ago, I know of people who weren't taking their kids because they knew how it was going to be. I was fucking livid myself, even cheered the banner which I later realised was silly, people wanted a focus, and that was it. I'm not blaming 'us' btw, just saying there were mistakes made by many parties, supporters included, me, you etc. Not really a response to you, but I quoted you anyway, we all make mistakes I don't blame fans for being livid at what happened, but those who supposedly speak for the fans have an extra responsibilty. If you are going to organise and set up protests in the name of the fans, through publications and in print, at least you should think through the consequences.

The first goal came from an absolutely dreadful pass from Nicky Butt (who was shite all game imo)which put us on the backfoot, Taylor got pulled out of position leaving and the only reason the cross came from Lennon was because he had switched sides to get away from Bassongs pocket. Exactly right. Bassong defensively had a blinder, the only question marks were with his distribution. Lennon was switched to the other wing only because Bassong had him tied up tighter than a hostage in Beirut.

Whether this is true or not (and it sounds plausible enough), it's exactly what I feared would happen as a result of the amateurish show of strength by the fans ringleaders. I hope True Faith, The Mag and the rest of the rabble rousers are reading this. I rate Venables as a coach, he's exactly what we need as a short term appointment. I hope him and his wife overcome their doubts and take the opportunity. We need a manager.
-
Agreed. If we are after bent London based managers, George "boring, boring Arsenal" is definitely the one to go for

Im not sure ive ever had a post from you which actually gets the crux of any of my points. "obvioudly holding us back"?? Where have i said that then? You've made that up, and that is the crux of your entire post. So basically a non post - well done. Ahhh, out of context quoting - how refreshing. Nice change of pace to your usualy miss the point posts i suppose. I'm not sure if you think you're being clever by deliberately trying to avoid the question, but if you ever managed to structure a sentence so it made sense you might have better luck putting across some of your so called points. Put some context around your words "for the best interests of the club Keegan should definitely of left" if you like, but perhaps you could also explain how having a "mediocre manager" as you call Keegan would not hold us back. I would expect results to immediately improve as the players were relieved of the mediocrity. Bit of a dubious argument that. I regard Keegan as a very good manager, but the results have been bad due to losing several key players to injury and suspension above all else. Keegan was struggling last season as well until Martins and Viduka returned to the first team.
-
Circles yes - and sometimes the exact words needn't be said - it's the context I speak of. Whatever (I'm standby at work so have a little more time to discuss than I'd thought !) OK - so I'll accept that we should wait and see - that OK ? Exactamundo And we had no say in convincing Ashley to bog off then ?
-
I think the fact he made it public knowledge that he'd been approached suggests he's not going to take the job in any case. I doubt the Club would have wanted it leaked. Supposedly holding talks today though so you never know.
-
Would rather have Keegan back any day.
-
Supposed to have been carrying a hamstring injury, but you are right, why wait and see? Let's pass judgement right now and agree he's shit.
-
Wouldn't say a fair few things, but his second from last post was very condescending. Can't even be bothered to read his guff anymore, on any thread. Obnoxious bastard. The real shame of it all is that he thinks he's "winning" arguments with "facts" that no one wants to "dispute" when he drives people away like that. The vicious cycle of delusion continues anew. I don't bother contributing to these "discussions" much tbh. Presenting "facts" without context and ignoring all attempts to provide some is an agenda in reality. Waste of time.

Simple fact is it's impossible to know what anyone is going to do with us, good or bad. All we can do is put blind faith in whoever stumps up the cash, and there's no point trying to complain about them before they're given a chance to prove their ambitions. Theres been TOO MUCH "Blind Faith" we have to get it right (for a change) Of course it's important to 'get it right' this time as the stakes are as high as they've ever been, but when is it not important? If it was that easy then we'd already have the perfect owner. So you had doubts about Ashley, well done. Doesn't mean that you are going to be spot on about everyone else, and it certainly doesn't mean the Nigerian lot are automatically bad for the club. Stability is the key. Stability is further away than ever. But this "Beggars can't be choosers" mentality is ridiculous. Phil I agree with you. We want the Arabs, so just tell them to buy the club and call Ashley to tell him to agree the deal. Good stuff
-
I keep saying this, but I have no problem with him coming back if the new owners want him in charge and are willing to keep backing him with big money for the term of his contract.

He probably doesn't. You would know more than an ex-Newcastle captain who commentates on the club and is a regular behind closed doors amongst the players ? I doubt it, matey. I really do. Moncur's a nice bloke but as a pundit he has as much insight as John McCririck. I'm not really arsed about what he might know or might not. We all know Venables is a shady character, and Moncur might just have been snorting at that. I'd have far more regard for what Steve Gibson the Middlesbrough chairman thinks. As long it's short term, Venables has all the credentials to keep us out of danger until a takeover is complete. That will do me.
-
Yeah, that would be nice wouldn't it?
-
He probably doesn't.

he's a cockney
-
Thanks, I can back that up as I remember it very well. Venables is not a great guy to have in long term but as a short term firefighter he is ideal. Superb coach and tactician and a very good motivator. I'm pretty sure Sheraer has described him as the best coach he has ever worked with. Brain dead morons please consider this carefully before you start screaming hysterically about cockneys. FWIW, I don't think he'll take up the offer anyway, there are suggestions he might be concerned about the hostility of brain dead morons.

souness dalgleish curbishley peter reid howard wilkinson etc etc etc al preferable to a 3rd cockney gangster You should have took the second option.

Well so far I have determined there is one reason the posters don't like them; they're Nigerian. Basically Nigeria is one of the most corrupt countries in the world to do business. I've worked with organisations from many different parts of Africa and I've only ever had trouble in Nigeria. Other people I know who have worked in Africa all say the same thing. I'm not saying that all Nigerians are the same as I've met some really decent people but the country is in a mess. Just look at these two articles for example to see what I mean: http://www.economist.com/world/mideast-africa/displaystory.cfm?story_id=12267373 http://www.economist.com/world/mideast-africa/displaystory.cfm?story_id=11975488 Most outsiders seem to view Newcastle as a mess to be honest.

At least Shearer wouldn't turn his back on us and leave us in the shit. Shearer turned his back on us when he preferred to stay on MOTD than work alongside Keegan as far as I am concerned. he seemed far happier working with Souness and Dalglish.
