  1. From today's Independent. It'll probably be dismissed as the views of an outsider, but the fact is, any buyer of the club is more than likely going to be an outsider. We really need Geordie businessmen to stand up and be counted.
  2. Finally a Good post. We also need a manager in who can use his limited resources far beter than Chris Hughton.
  3. Take your fucking fans with you to a golf course in Spain.
  4. I'll be there. Although if Hughton's still picking the team we haven't got a chance in hell.
  5. cheers, nice to hear a report on what actually happened as opposed to who's fault it was.
  6. No it was obviously done behind his back when he wasn't looking.
  7. Not being mongs, they probably don't want to demonstrate. In any case, does anyone ever demostrate FOR something? Isn't it usually against?
  8. I hear Faye was man of the match against Liverpool today.
  9. Some people would prefer to get relegated rather than contemplate it, I agree.
  10. Hear hear. Selling him was sheer stupidity. Not only is he miles better than Taylor but he's also a much more able holding midfielder than Butt. I'm pretty sure he was sold because he fell out with Keegan. Was that Dennis Wise's fault as well? Halleluah ! Finally, some people are showing themselves not to be Cockney-Mafia banner waving cretins unlike three quarters of our fans (the dumbest) There may even be more than 10% who actually are "wise" to the fact that "Walkout Kev" isn't the messiah they're stupid enough to THINK he is. You're banal. You're banal
  11. Dennis Wise would get my vote as caretaker manager ahead of O'Bleary, Curbishley or Hughton. He'll believe in the new signings and he won't be scared of reputations. Short term he might just be the job to stop these players feeling sorry for themselves and put some drive back in the squad.
  12. Colo a six!! Are u on crack? He turned away from the ball, scared as a mackem in Haymarket you fool! funny how 2 other posters gave him a six yet you attack me. Did you see the game pal? doubtful Bob Moncur reckoned the three best players were Owen, N'Zogbia and Colo. I didn't see it so not passing judgement btw.
  13. this, clueless tosser To be fair, if the past two or three managers hadn't had this stupid obsession with thinking N'Zogbia was a left-back (remember Keegan's comments saying he had a find somewhere in the team for him so played him left-back?), then perhaps we'd have seen Bassong left-back instead, because to be honest, I think Keegan would have named that same back four as today unfortunately. Ever since Souness played Kluivert in midfield and Shola up front, I've had a suspicion that a lot of managers are just thick footballers with a title. Mind Souness did also come up with the brainwave of using two defensive midfielders for an away match so he probably deserves to be in a category of his own.
  14. That he can put out a first 11 without ANY midifelders playing in midfield?
  15. I was never bothered about it at the time, I'll openly admit that. All I'm saying is that with hindsight (I know...) it was never going to last. Especially when he appointed possibly the only man who would turn 99% of the fans against him if something went wrong. And at Newcastle something ALWAYS goes wrong. In that case if and when the club is taken over, I hope we don't hear anyone clamouring for Shearer as manager, just in case it goes wrong...
  16. Hear hear. Selling him was sheer stupidity. Not only is he miles better than Taylor but he's also a much more able holding midfielder than Butt. I'm pretty sure he was sold because he fell out with Keegan. Was that Dennis Wise's fault as well? Where are the quotes to suggest he fell out with Keegan? The only reason given was because he was homesick wasn't it? It was discussed on here a while back, apparently he had a row and wasn't picked after that for the closing games of last season.
  17. Do you honestly believe that? When he's been to games before, he's been surrounded by minders and even the police confirmed that they hadn't advised him not to go to games. It's a kop out on Ashley's part and also gives insight into his view of Newcastle fans. The above was a lame excuse and the gutless b****** knows it. Getting to the point, the sooner he is gone the better. IMO he has been looking for offers for a while. He has failed in reading the running of the club and his lack of investment in the playing side has badly let fans down. Those same fans he persuaded to pay for the next 3 seasons. He has rapped in to easily and appears to be looking to make his 50 sovereigns. Though the longer this debacle goes on, he can kiss goodbye to his £280m. Maybe the question should be has Ashley massively overplayed his own hand in buying NUFC? Well I'm sure there is a consortium of local businessmen ready to step in with a bid even as we speak.
  18. He was fucking thick to take them in the first place then, if he thought that he wouldn't come in for some shit at some point. Newsflash - fans care about what happens at their club, certainly more than businessmen with no ties to the place whatsoever. Well good luck on the fans bid to buy the shares then. Because if they don't: NEWSFLASH: we are going to need a businessmen with no ties to the place to buy it I'm not saying we don't. Just making the point that by sitting with the fans he was always going to come to a point at which the feeling was more than a little hostile towards him, and he had to stop doing it. It was inevitable, but he's making out that there's something out of the ordinary that he's not Mr. Popular any more. I'm surprised this is coming from you Dave you are usually more level-headed. I saw Ashley with his kids at the football match and they all looked like they were loving it proudly wearing their toon tops. I'm sure if he'd had the benefit of hindsight he'd have made sure they didn't do that, but then he's not Mystic Meg with a crystal ball is he?

  21. I'd agree that we have too many creaking midfielders in the middle in fact I've started about 10 threads on it - but as far as I know we weren't really targeting a replacement for Butt, Keegan's main priority seemed to be a left back.
  22. Put yourself in his situation, he can't go to the games anymore incase people assault him, he only bought the club for the craic really. If I bought a club I didn't support and the fans were dillusional cunts, I'd just tell them to fuck off, then sell to some right bastard, like Doug Ellis. I hope he does actually, would be great banter with NE5 There's as little stopping him sitting in the director's box with his family as there was from the start. Just seems sad to me that this whole thing is slowly being turned on the fans by some. Of course we weren't going to be happy when Keegan left citing the board as being at fault for fuck's sake. So we make our feelings known and the owner shits himself at the first possible opportunity and pulls out. I'm rather disappointed at Ashley's lack of backbone tbh. He'd have to be fucking thick to take his family, let's be fair. I'm sure he'd love watching his son or daughter shrinking under a barrage of abuse.
  23. Chris Hughton as caretaker manager of NUFC. a truly disturbing reality. Hughton although admittedly out of his death is not as odious as the poisoned rodent. Fans should have a decent relationship with the manager of their club - won't happen if Wise is in charge. The utter selfishness behind that statement is beaten only by it's stupidity.
