  1. That should help us land an arab buyer...but hey it was just a bit of harmless fun! (again).
  2. When you've followed Stoke for as many years that i have, and seen some players that have graced the red and white stripes......Beleive me Faye is Emmense. While Bassong looks better in a lot of aspects, ironically this match is exactly the sort of game where Faye would have been invaluable. You would expect Bassong and Coloccini to be tested thoroughly in the air against Stoke, especially from set pieces. That is the one area Faye was literally head and shoulders above any of our central defenders.
  3. this, its Keegan vs Ashley, i know whos side i'm on,. Ashley won't pay out of his pocket, the money will be paid by the club. I like Keegan but if it's the club v Keegan it's Newcastle all the way for me. BTW, there is no comparison with SBR getting money he was due from the club when he was sacked by Freddie Fantastic. Bobby Robson never quit a club in his life, the only way you'd get him to leave the place would be by sacking him or in an ambulance.
  4. It's been a fair amount of time since Owen's missed a month through a little injury. he was out for the man city, mackems, west brom and villa games We got 7 pts from those four games and if you include the Wigan game where Owen didn't start, we scored 8 goals in 5. Since he's come back into the starting line up we've failed to score in both games. It reminds me of last season how we struggled to get goals when Owen played up front. He was a lot more effective when he played in a withdrawn role with Viduka and Martins up top.
  5. No one knows for sure why Faye was allowed to leave, there was talk that he was homesick, and also there was rumour of a massive bust up between Keegan and Faye in the Everton dressing room. I am convinced that is the reason Faye left, because KK came out and said he was very happy with Taylor as his main centre back soon after, plus I know when Keegan falls out with someone he tends to hold grudges for a very long time. In any case, you got a very solid stopper and if you were on this board when he was sold you would have seen that not many of us fans were very happy that he was sold. Anyway worst of luck on Saturday
  6. Exactly. They are fucking plebs who have put the club in the spotlight for the wrong reason again. There's no way I'm going to wring my hands on their behalf.
  7. This for me is simply a case of my club, Newcastle United v Kevin Keegan. I want what is best for the club not what is best for KK's soccer circus so I hope the money stays in Newcastle. If Keegan wins his case good luck to him but I very much hope he doesn't.

http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,58111.msg1587486.html#msg1587486 my opinion on the rest of your post that I clipped is that its too little too late, he's been a disaster and lots of you younger guys are now seeing what the club was run like for decades before, eeeer,, 1992. Not quite so bad, but getting there. I also agree that the clubs ambition is now limited to staying in the top league. Now, THAT is "going backwards", because its a major shift in policy. But I pointed this out ages ago too. Before this exercise in revisionist history runs it's course, it's worth pointing out that we have been struggling in the bottom half of the table for the last FIVE years. Ashley has been here for only ONE of those, which means that Freddy Shepherd was in charge for FOUR years of similar struggle. That was despite spending heavily on players, some of who turned out to be massive wastes of money. It could be argued it was the Roy Keane route to disaster. Something to think about. I think your maths is very poor. Enlightening response It should be. 5th and 7th is struggling in the bottom half of the table is it? That's revisionist. Roeder's seventh place involved long periods in the bottom half and relegation was talked about even back then Exactly. I'm sure UV knows this, just as he must know that even SBR's final season when we finished 5th, we struggled badly for the first half of it. Unless UV's trying to make the point that Freddie Fantastic sacked SBR without any good reason whatsoever. So you're not going to even admit that you didn't mean to include Robson's final season, and got your maths all wrong. Okay, have it your way. This season and last are just the same as when we finished 5th under Robson. Priceless. UV accuses me of getting my maths wrong, realises he's actually got his wrong after being pointed in the right direction, and then claims I didn't mean to get my maths right - so there! I'm gutted tbh, how could I have not realised that the season we finished 5th was one where we were "struggling in the bottom half of the table" and was similar to last season and this, even though we weren't in the bottom half at any point after mid october. Thanks for putting my revisionist history straight, I was worried about relegation, but now realise we'll be knocking on the door of the Champions League places come the end of the season. You need to send your revisionist version of history to Freddie Fantastic. Maybe he can revise history and tell us he didn't sack Bobby Robson following that season?
  9. I think it's going to be Phil Brown. I can't really see them going for Fat Sam after his association with Newcastle. Whichever one it is (because I have a hunch O'Neill might regretfully turn down this fantastic opportunity ) I don't think either will do well. They could survive and do ok, but the wearside inbreds will start moaning about dull football, because being thick they'll assume they are entitled to good football like Newcastle. This will create pressure and thus the new manager will crumble and so will the team.
  10. Is SOS big enough to accomodate more mongs? I know it's not full on match days but with Keano going they'll be descending from every cave in Wearside.

  13. The thing is though Barton was very infuential in that 3 man midfield, Guthrie may do it but Barton was one of the best players towards the end of the season. Barton played left side in the 3 man midfield. N'Zogbia should be able to play that role as he supposedly prefers playing centre midfield, and Jonas should also be capable. Both have the capability to play defensively as well with Zog having played left back, and Jonas usually tracking back very well. What we will miss is Barton's clever use of the ball from that position, but it's still worth a go in my book.
  14. As for Martin Appiah, I have the feeling that he's a free agent because he's a perma-crock. If he isn't he would be a good signing, but after Cacapa we should probably be wary.

  16. I'd forgot all about Turan. Seeing as we couldn't buy him for £10m befor the Euros, I doubt we'd get him for that now. Can't see it happening but I'd love to see him come as I always thought he was more suited to the English game than Modric in that he doesn't seem shy to get stuck in.
  17. yep, spot on - the whole season to date for duff to produce sweet fuck all (jonas too for that matter), coupla games for charlie to inspire us up the table or he's oot we're a fucking shambles if the lad leaves, sorry bigger shambles, but the kinnear said he isn't so that'll all end well eh? I think the big test will come if Zog has a good game. If he does, he can do stuff Duff couldn't dream of. If he has a quiet game, then it'll be more tempting for Kinnear to sell when he's got safe, reliable options like Duff and Jonas for the left. We really need Zog to have a blinder against Stoke.
  18. £20 million for a player who will turn 31 this month? Now that's a radical change of policy. Lol. If Carlsberg did retarded newspapers.......... http://www.google.co.uk/images?q=tbn:vjvSGWSiOfYJ::www.nmauk.co.uk/nma/downloads To think this shit gets approved and edited before being published and then sold across the whole of Britain.

  20. With Duff out for another week, the game against Stoke is probably his last chance to make a big impact on the left wing. Although he was probably no better or worse than anyone else against boro, unless he can provide a genuine threat consistently I can see JFK going with the safer option of Duff as soon as he is fit.
  21. Neither would I. He'd never go with a formation as attacking as that. How do we know? When has Kinnear ever had three strikers of the quality of Martins, Viduka & Owen in his squad? Keegan very rarely played Shearer, Ferdinand & Asprilla together, and yet it was the supposedly negative Dalglish that actually played them as a front-three several times towards the end of that season. If JFK wants to increase his chances of a win, he should definitely go 4-3-3. With Viduka, Owen and Martins up top we put the fear of god in teams a lot better than Stoke last season.
  22. Why is he talking about us? Why not Hull or if he wants to stay closer to home, Fulham for example? I know the answer and so does that name-dropping cunt I'll wager.
