of all the names mentioned other than Berbatov, he'd be the biggest. Not going to be either though.
-
Thought he was one of our better players today, some clever link up play to go with the sometimes infuriating over-dribbling. Is it just me or does he look happier? Haven't heard much about him moving on recently.
-
Replace Duff and Milner with players who can deliver end product and that team becomes a lot more dangerous.
-
He handled it twice in quick succession and both were penalties for me. Anyhow, at least it didn't cost us. Thought Zog had a pretty good game down the left.

He can't win. He gets knocked for overdoing it and knocked for being no nonsense. The penalty and dilly dally moment aside, he put in a flawless display. Very good in the air, no nonsense defending, decent distribution, solid. The actual handball for my money having seen a replay, looks to be accidental. He saved a goal bound shot as he did several times during the game. I want to see that from a defender. If that becomes his game, no nonsense, he will commit fewer mistakes over the course of a campaign and with it become more consistent. He isn't going to be a world beater and never was, all I want is a consistent solid performer which since KK took over, he has been. Of course he's made mistakes, but all players do. Martins made one today when he missed his header, Owen did as well missing an easy header. The key is making sure those mistakes don't cost you. Don't want to judge him without seeing the incident, but he does have a knack of handling the ball in the penalty area. So do Terry and Carragher and that's because like Taylor, they throw themselves at the ball a lot and that's not because they are uber brave or uber heroes, but because certain situations demand certain actions. Taylor was applauded by the whole ground several times this afternoon for throwing himself at the ball to make vital and successful blocks. He got caught out and while it has happened a few times now, but I'd like to think he's blocked more goalbound shots and therefore potential goals against than he's handled, and by some margin. Again he can't seem to win, if he throws himself at the ball he's trying to be the hero (again) and risking a penalty, yet if he didn't, he'd be screamed at by thousands or called a fanny. Today was just unfortunate. I've seen Taylor throwing himself in front of the ball and he's done it to good effect a lot. Sometimes he's been standing alongside the keeper on the line trying to save it with his body, when he might have been better marking an attacker instead. Whether he's justified in giving so many handballs in the penalty area I doubt. Terry and Carragher can't play his football for him, although that would be nice. So many? That's stretching it a bit, although one is too many, but howay, its not like he handles the ball every game or gives a penalty away every game. I can think of at least three in barely over a season. Relatively speaking that's quite a few.

Don't want to judge him without seeing the incident, but he does have a knack of handling the ball in the penalty area, I'm pretty certain he's done it at least twice before. That said, he had a decent game last week, but I can remember saying similar stuff about Bramble.

One thing which annoys me about both Milner and Duff - apart from the fact they can't shoot or cross - is that they both slow down with the ball at their feet. Last week Duff got the ball on the counter attack against Man U and instead of running at their over-stretched defence he started mincing around flicking the ball between his feet. Something Milner does as well insted of going at them while they're stretched.
-
Solano was never a great athlete, but his football brain was so switched on he could do more damage with one touch than Milner could with all his running. End product. Solano had it, Milner never will.
-
I've been saying that since last season. He's too slow, but he's a clever passer and he can hurt the opposition unlike some of our supposedly attacking midfielders.
-
Good old BBC. Step up from last I guess Thank fuck I've got Prem Plus.
-
Supposedly going to get an improved contract offered after Wednesday's board meeting. If his writing's as accurate as his shooting he'll probably sign the wrong piece of paper. Or boot it 40 ft into the air.
-
At least it might push the board to get another striker into the squad.
-
wouldnt go that far If Owen hadn't come off the bench do you think Duff or Milner would have scored?

Coloccini gets a 6 and Taylor a 7? f***ing hell I wonder how you'd mark it if Coloccini was the one who gave away a pen.. ditto.. need a better rating from someone esle. Maybe Taylor earned a 6 instead. But Colo wasn't that impressive today against Davies. Live with it. Maybe he earned a 6 now you consider that he gave away a idiotic penalty eh? mackems.gif Take it easy.. Football is about opinions. I didn't see the game ( ) so I can't comment, but an accidental handball doesn't make Taylor a poor defender. If you didn't see the game, how do you know it was accidental? Are you saying he did it on purpose? On the balance, I think Taylor had a better game than Coloccini which is why I gave him a better rating. The idiots that start frothing at the mouth when he kisses the badge or throws his shirt into the stands will have difficulty accepting that. I didn't say anything, I haven't seen it yet, which is why I haven't commented. Moncur on the radio said it was a stupid thing to do, that's all I know. Taylor does handle the ball a lot, then pretends he's been shot in the gut to try and con the ref. When was the last time Taylor gave away a penalty for a handball? Did you just start watching Newcastle this season?
-
Fantastic result in any case. We haven't got goals in our side, so the clean sheet was so important.

Don't know why you need both Modric and Arshavin tbh. Too many chefs and all that...
-
He's our lucky talisman. Every time he stays off the pitch we get a result.
-
Results and a couple of signings will change that.

he could be injured as well...

Duff and Milner failing to live up to their pre-season hype...who'd have predicted that? Oh wait...
-
We knew this would happen tbh. They can be beaten but someone other than Martins needs to pose a goal threat.

Mouthinho Arda would cap a perfect end to a miserable summer Are you referring to the weather? Take a look outside and there's your answer.
