Carr hasn't done badly but we will keep conceding goals at the far post if he stays in the side.

Pass to his own players. Giving the ball to the opposition in the last 5 mins then watching them go up the other end and equalise should probably best be avoided. To be fair to Butt, he did okay ( not brill) until the last 5 mins when he did give it away twice very badly indeed, late on its what people remember most .. especially when it costs you a win.
-
I was more concerned that Graham Taylor seemed to be influencing Allardyce.

It's not all bad, Duff has been a big plus, Beye, Faye and possibly Enrique all look to have what it takes to be useful players. A bit of quality investment in the summer should make a big difference. The key being quality, no more bargain buys.
-
Can't say I am too surprised at how it has turned out, while I agree Keegan might have over-rated our players, I think given some patience he will address this in the summer. This is precisely WHY it a smart move to sack Allardyce swiftly and unceremoniously - so Keegan could use this wasted season to assess the squad. A lot of these players are not physical enough to play Sam's devolutionary football, and are too slow to play pass and move to Keegan's taste. Butt, Geremi, Emre, Smith should be sold and replaced with more technically gifted players with some pace if we want to follow the Arsenal blueprint. A forward with height and pace ala Adebeyor would make a massive difference as well.

Had rave reviews about Krul from my Falkirk season ticket holder of a friend, thinks he's miles better and has loads more potential than Kasper Schmeichel who they had on loan last season. I saw enough of Krul in one match in Europe to see he was a cut above. Young, but has everything Given and Harper have in their closet, with height and self-belief to add. It's time to bring him home instead of getting injured playing in the Scottish League, or anywhere else for that matter.
-
which cost us two points. not his fault he's short though but we could do without it.
-
Krul needs to be no 2 when he regains full fitness as he's a real prospect. Harper should be sold imo.

The cameraman didn't catch Duff and the defender when the ball was played, they were too far ahead of the play. How convenient. Looked miles on from where I was sitting, lush through ball from Charlie. looked off from where i was but maybe cos he ran round the back of the defender. like to see it again I saw it, was a perfectly good goal. Refs and linesmen are supposed to give the benefit of the doubt to the attacker so to talk about being 'a fraction offside' is going against the whole point.

I hope he works out, but ts far too early to have him down as a world class-type defender. Yes, he's been good for us, but he's gotten himself into some trouble that really good centre backs really shouldn't, although granted he has normally good enough to recover the situation - but he can't rely on that, and shouldn't be making the errors in the first place. I'm not saying he's not good enough, just that he isn't necessarily brilliant yet. We don't need him to be world class or brilliant, just better than what we've got which he is. In both defence and midfield which is sad but true.
-
Cacapa's a bit lightweight, but makes up for this with his reading of the game. He's class imo.

Was it? Hardly a shot on target in a dull game and a goal from a setpiece. Keegan is obviously following Sam's footprint. How observant you are.
-
I'm reluctant to agree with you, but I know what you mean. Faye has looked immense at the back for us for the most part and I am nervous as hell with Taylor who even when he's playing well is liable to a costly gaffe. I think it was Keefaz who suggested Faye and Barton as centre mids. and I think that's quite tasty. Both have physical presence, Faye's athleticism alongside Barton's box to box running would make us much harder to crack. Add Martins up front and you have a counter-attack option again. For me, away from home Martins should be the first name on the sheet ahead of Owen or Viduka for that reason alone.

The whole ethos of playing a passing game is built on being able to hold the ball and pass under pressure, otherwise it goes to pot and you'd be better off lumping long balls again. Butt is consistently fumbling the passes and it's not like he has any great ball-winning abilities these days either. We'd be better off with Amdy Faye back here and I'm not joking.

sshh...don't let the facts get in the way of a good slagging. Give your head a shake man for God's sake. Sorry but I don't see the point in complaining about Owen when he's scored two goals even though our attacking play was blunt at best. I'm not just talking about today. In the Premiership, your centre forward has to be able to do more than just score the odd from a set piece. With the ball at his feet these days, Owen is totally impotent. He just won't put chances anymore. It's a matter of accepting that rather than categorising it as "a good slagging." Owen is still a good finisher IMO, but he doesn't offer much else, that much I agree with. The problems are much more concern in other areas of the pitch for me. Right wing, playmaker and central defence for a start. What's your evidence that he's a good finisher? Apart from a couple of scrappy tap ins (today and Stoke), he's scored one goal with his feet this season - against Barnsley. You can say we're not creating, but today, against Arsenal in the cup and against Man City off the top of my head, he's had chances that your typical Premiership striker should bury without a second thought. Had loads earlier in the season too (two simple ones against Wigan spring to mind). What's my evidence? Erm...his career? He's not the player he was but a few misses hardly means he's lost the ability to finish. Strikers miss chances and go through spells like this. If he's still doing it over the next 5 matches you might have a point.

Jenas looks like part of a very slick, athletic team at Spurs. I always rated him when he was here, though he still can't finish. I fully agree. The upper half of the Premiership has many players similar to him. The sheer athleticism of the Jenas' and Muntari's would run our lot ragged. Jenas isn't particularly tall nor muscular and is still a bit of a pansy but he'd physically dominate Butt & Emre. Well I'm not saying it in hindsight. I used to stick up for Jenas on here when he was getting slated. I'm not surprised he's got picked for England, I think he'll do very well under Capello.
-
Carrwatch cont. Stumbled like a helpless dwarf as Huth towered above him to head home the equaliser.
-
Aye. He only seems to be capable of a few types of goals. When he scored those goals for England I thought that had changed but it hasn't. his heading is his best attribute these days. Don't agree. I'm not Owen's biggest fan, but I think he's suffering from the general shitness through the middle. When we did get past the full back he was generally straight into a goal-scoring position waiting for a decent cross. And he did score twice today in reality.
-
I'm pretty sure the pressure they built up in the last 15 mins or so was nearly always directly as a result of Butt giving up the ball in the middle. They only got possession for their goal when Butt received the ball then floated it aimlessly forward and once again to a boro shirt.
-
However disappointing the result today, we looked light years better than the dross served up under Allardyce, and that was without the ANC players. Fuck off Sam and good riddance.
