  1. Funnily enough I was also thinking that Willock would be one of my three midfielders, he might enjoy having a target man to work off. Also I would definitely sack off Almiron from anywhere near the starting line up. Great minds think alike! I just think put as many goals in the first 11 as possible, and the three centre backs should give us some insurance at the other end. We can play the more progressive formations once we've got players capable of executing them.
  2. Who's the better striker they'll get for that money?
  3. I would personally go horses for courses and go with 3 centre backs and use Ritchie and Trippier as wing backs. 5-3-2 might not be Eddie's preferred formation, but it probably suits the players we've got to pick from for this fixture anyway.
  4. I'm assuming he might have lost a yard of pace since there seems to be a feeling that he's faded this season. He was never that quick, but he can run in behind for sure. I also concur with the other guys picking up that he can strike the ball cleanly with both feet. He really is quite a good finisher.
  5. I don't know if Burnley were one of the teams who absolutely hate us since the takeover, but they do now.
  6. Yeah, 4-6 is what I was hearing, and there's a long way to go in this window. I think if we can get good players through the door near the end of January, we'll go for it.
  7. I see him purely as a short terms signing, if we weren't in trouble, we'd have waited and got someone in who is a bit more mobile. But at the same time, I think he'll be a massive success, and might end up getting cult status like Kilcline and Kelly by the time he's finished here.

    Lucas Digne

I wonder if he'll commute to training from his future Chelsea pad?
  9. The quality of the headers is what stood out for me. Love how he directs them into the places the goalie has no chance of reaching.
  10. Not many owners would have sanctioned spending £25m on a clearly limited, but effective target man who's value will only go down. It was bold and decisive, and may well save our season.
  11. I'm sure we will at some point, but having a takeover go through in the middle of a season probably throws a few spanners in the works.
  12. Ok, was just wondering. He's not exactly a priority signing for us, just seemed like that deal was fairly well down the line.
  13. He's sort of like a poor man's Shearer in some ways. Much clumsier obviously, but he does have a bit of strength about him both physically and mentally, great in the air, and whacks in a mean penalty.
  14. What's happened to the Todd Cantrell rumours? Yesterday it looked like it was on, now he's playing for Norwich tomorrow?
  15. Especially being the kind of player he is, basically a big target man, who is pretty lethal in the air. It's not like he was relying on express pace to get on the end of crosses, it's mostly just anticipation and shrewd movement.
  16. He's absolutely the last type of footballer I'd want normally, but in this situation you just want someone who'll get in the penalty area and get on the end of stuff. He seems to take a decent pen as well. That tells you a bit more about his temperament.
  17. Same scoreline, Wood and ASM the goalscorers for me.
  18. I'm not worried, I think he'll score goals. He's not a flash player, but he knows where the goal is, and more importantly, he's a tough character who'll relish a challenge. I've seen him score a few late winners, it's a lot safer signing than a few more glamorous might have turned out.
  19. It's your mates who were asking why he wasn't playing, I was just providing a reason. Yeah he is shit, but I actually think this Wood signing keeps us up, and I don't like him as a player at all.
  20. He's always injured, that's as good a reason as any.
  21. They'll probably buy some lump from League one. Was going to say they might use that money to get someone in from Europe on loan, but not easy reeling those in, as we are seeing ourselves.
  22. It's a disgusting fee, but it will save us £100m if his goals keep us up. That's how I'm going to look at it.
  23. Aye. Even though he's the epitome of the sort of footballer I hate normally, I have always fancied him to score a goal, usually an ugly one.
  24. Mate, I think he'll actually keep us up. He's limited, useless for most aspiring teams looking to be ambitious, but he will get on the end of crosses, and he'll likely score the odd winner. He's the Sam Allardyce of centre forwards.
  25. At £20m? We are literally the only club who are desperate enough to trigger that clause. Not saying it's wrong either, desperate times call for desperate measures.
