  1. Quite impressed he wants to come tbh, he'll probably have a 6 month career here, but it could be a glorious David Kelly sort of one.
  2. £20m, dear lord. Oh well, if it saves us from relegation, fuck it.
  3. Right. And we are being told to do one for most of the players we are putting bids in for, so I have no problem in spending £30m on a potential future superstar, those are the sort of players we should be buying regardless. We are not going to be spending our quota this transfer window anyway, the way things are going.
  4. Is Patrick Schick just not willing to move at all? Otherwise he'd be the one I'd really like to go for, even at £50m.
  5. Why? Are we going to run out of money? We can still sign strikers for right now as well.
  6. It's a big club deal the likes of Chelsea probably do all the time. Just because we are shit now, doesn't mean we shouldn't buy for the future. I agree, if we really rate him, find some way to get him signed.
  7. Anderson should really have been chucked in against Cambridge, would have been less pressure than a relegation 6 pointer, and we could have got a look at how he handled it. He looked game on the only other occasion he's been given a run out.
  8. Fuck me, three pages later we are still talking about Shola. Sums up the Jan window so far tbh.
  9. I think that says everything tbh, even after racking your brain you came up with someone who doesn't want to be in Newcastle, he wants to go to Spain. Lingard similarly wants to sit on his arse until he can pick his next club in the summer when his contract runs down. There's a slim chance we might be able to get one of them near the end of the window if things change, but it really shows how hard it is to get quality in January.
  10. Had no updates since last week, if he's available then would be a big plus. Otherwise I suppose we'll have to start ASM and hope he plays a bit more intelligently than he did against Cambridge.
  11. Yeah it's important people don't lose sight of the fact we still have the rest of the window to sign players, not everything will stand or fall on one game. Obviously would be great to get a striker in at least for the Watford game, but we have to make sure these signings are going to improve us, and we don't end up with shite through sheer desperation.
  12. Right now I'd take Gayle tbh, there's no one else available who even remotely resembles a striker.
  13. Definitely my biggest worry.
  14. But if we can't get them for these games, it would be nice to still pursue long term targets regardless.
  15. Might actually give us more of a bargaining position as no one else will be interested either now.
  16. He was too much of a nice guy as HTT already said. Can't doubt his ability, he was pretty good in one on ones against the keeper, thought he was a decent finisher personally, one of the reasons his penalty record was stellar. But like Joelinton and Joselu, didn't really have the hunger for goals that a real striker needs. These types are quite happy to do a nice bit of footwork and pass it to someone else and see if they can score.
  17. I mean if it doesn't I won't be that arsed. Clubs are asking stupid money for totally unproven players on the back of a hot streak of form. He might turn out to be the next Thierry or he might just fade into oblivion or end up in jail at this point.

Some of the names bandied about on here as potential DM signings are coming to the end of their contract, Kessie comes to mind, but when you actually research a bit, you find there's CL clubs waiting to hook them in the summer. So I'm not sure there's much available in any position that's much of an upgrade tbh. Might be a case of fishing until something comes up at some point in the window.
  19. I think in January we might find that's the case for any player that's actually available.

Read that Klopp was very happy with his performances when he's been called on, so I assumed he must be fairly solid, but again I suppose it depends who he's played against. This is the thing though, from what I've seen Tarkowski doesn't look like he's got pace either, can only assume he reads the game well and doesn't make gaffes on a regular basis, that alone would make them better than most of our CB's.
  21. Gayle might be available, although I don't know if he's been training if he's been off with covid.
  22. Well yeah, I'm assuming he would be a future prospect, wouldn't want to be relying on someone that raw to save us from relegation. We'd still need to buy a striker for right now.
  23. Would still like to see us buy him as a future prospect though assuming the price is right, it's the sort of thing City or Chelsea would do. It would show we are thinking like a big club.
  24. That's only sensible tbh, we could buy strikers who are available now, only to find they are no more effective than what we've already got. I know it sounds insane, but we could bring in this Azmoun guy, and he might turn out to be worse than Gayle or ASM up front.

I would imagine he's our top target for a reason. If we can get him in on deadline day then we'll do it, if not then in the summer. In the meantime of course we'll have to sign someone else for the short term, maybe a loan. Nat Phillips would be great if we can get him from Liverpool.
