The season we went down, the lack of goals from him and Mitrovic was a big reason. Now I'm a fan of Ayoze as a player, but he's not a prolific goalscorer, and he's not a target man either. Not at all what we need at this time.

If Brentford and Brighton are involved you can bet the £30m price tag is way off. That's the problem with half of these stories, they often just pull numbers out of their arses.
-
If we're talking about £17m for Wood, then I think I would agree.
-
Saw a video of him, and he doesn't look ready for football at a senior level. Obvious talent, but will take a year or so to fill out and adjust to PL football IMO. Surprised the fee is as high as £30m at this stage for an undeveloped player, but he does look exciting.
-
Ekitike will be the back up for now, Wood would go straight into the team. But the young lad is the one that will cost the big money, seems a real prospect.
-
I think Man U might like him until the end of the season as well. Probably got more chance of getting Ronaldo on loan the way things are going for them right now.
-
If he's at a French club, they'll be putting the price up in daily increments of £5m.
-
If the release clause is for £17m I think I'd rather leave him tied up.
-
It's always more exciting to buy potential than over the hill strikers at the end of their careers. Let's see if this actually comes to anything before we get too carried away though.
-
Agree, was a bit worried with the talk of Chris Wood and Cantwell, but if they are supplementary signings, I'm fine with that. Really want us to pursue top class players first and foremost, ones who are ready to hit the ground running, and will be assets in the future as well.
-
Well let's hope Wood has that release clause.
-
A lot more exciting than Wood that's for sure, although ideally both would be good for the short term.
-
Doesn't seem so, Carlos's club will be less keen to let him go now their other defender has got injured, and the French guy has actually got injured himself and had to be carried from the field. So looks like our top three options are probably out.
-
So much for Lille needing to sell to offset their financial trouble.
-
How would PIF have any idea about running or managing a football club, they are an investment firm.
-
Losing Wilson was unlucky in one way, but also sort of predictable given his history. At least it happened right at the beginning of the transfer window rather than the end. Now that would have really been unlucky. And also somewhat negligent. We should always have an alternative striker to turn to if Wilson gets crocked.

I quite like Douglas normally, but I wonder if he's just pissed that the journos aren't getting any hints as to our targets?
-
A good CM is the heartbeat of the game. I said it before, but whether you loved him or hated him, you could never claim Tiote hid from the action. There's times you watch us now and you wonder if Longstaff, or Shelvey are even on the pitch. I know I had to check twice when Hendrick was starting.
-
He has a worse possession rate? Are you sure?
-
I really don't understand that kind of thinking, why would you put hurdles in your own way to get signings through the door? Not that I believe it, seems like he doesn't actually know, and is just speculating to fill column inches.
-
Yeah I'm pretty sure Howe's not going to say no to someone of the calibre of Martial or Lingard, it's more about the attitude. Do they want to be here?
-
Agree, think some are losing sight of the fact there's not a lot of money around outside of the big boys in the Premier. Spanish and Italian clubs are coming down after throwing huge wages around previously.
-
I was wondering which Spurs players I'd actually want, and there weren't too many of them tbh. Bergwijn seems to have done very little after his fantastic debut goal.
-
Or he might be putting them off as well. Supposedly he wants to be in London, maybe he'd take less if West Ham or Spurs came in.
-
Yeah it made no sense tbh. He'll need to lower his wage demands or stay at Everton.
