The worst thing in all this is that he's basically telling us that Wijnaldum is not viewed as a CM, neither is De Jong and Sissoko won't be played there either. We're basically gonna have to suffer 2 of Tiote, Colback and Anita for the rest of the season. And that's the best case scenario. Good thing we have De Jong, Thauvin, Perez, Sissoko and Wijnaldum all fighting for just three spots. So we'll be leaving at least two of them out each week. Keeps that promising little cunt Aarons right out of the picture too. Seriously, what an utterly shit club we support. Fuck us all.

If he can serve as a backup to Mitrovic as the target man type he'd be an asset to the squad. He's pretty strong as far as I recall, willing to put himself about. Do people think he could do that? Must confess I'd never seen him play before he joined us and other than his awful finishing I don't remember much about how he played last season. If he's no use in that role then he's not worth keeping, we've plenty of much better options for playing out wide or just off the front man.

He's only been in the league for seven games, think he'll get more comfortable in that spot. Don't think he's looked great as a #10 either and if we're gonna have Perez and Mitro up top I'd prefer us to go with a leftie on the left and a right footed player on the right, give Mitro some service. Key would be getting a suitable partner in CM, someone who can do the majority of the ball winning and protect the back four. Neither Anita nor Colback are that player. Tiote is the only one who fits the bill, sadly for us though I think he's wrecked. Would be curious to see this though. Sissoko Wij Tiote Thauvin Perez Mitrovic A lot of strength and speed in that midfield, if somehow the Tiote of his first year came back it'd be a cracking front six.

Long term if we're going with a 4-4-2 I think how best role would be as a CM who has license to get forward. Would move us to sign a quality ball winner to play in there with him. A good version of Tiote, basically.

Might be worth seeing how he looks against someone other than Man U or Chelsea before deciding he's no goal threat.

He's basically the lynchpin of our entire season. Seems McClaren has no idea how to put out an effective team without a player of his type, and he's also the only player of his type we have.

Don't think we were cruising at all. 18% ball possession for a while there. Were letting them pass it around our box more or less. Yeah but they didn't really look like scoring IMO. Had they had any chances? Mitrovic was defending deep in our own half. They were always going to create some chances. Had two or three good chances where they were called for offside. Yeah but catching them offside is good defending IMO. I don't know, think it's inevitable that 2-0 up against the champions we're gonna be pushed back. We were keeping them at bay quite well.
