Never liked her or her husband. Thought she looked like a cat in fact. It wouldn't surprise anyone if this was a complication from fraud.

Could see the sense in DCL but you'd think that this is the kind of thing we've brought Mitchell in for. A young, versatile forward with some potential. At RW I would fully support going big on someone like Bowen or Raphinha, would be massive to get someone that we can be almost certain will hit the ground running.
-
My guess is we'll sign a top RW option and then Barnes, Gordon and that player will fight for two spots. Gordon and the new RW signing as the presumptive starters and Barnes being first reserve for both spots, with Gordon shifting to the right hand side when it's he and Barnes on the field together. Ideal world we'd have an exciting youngster as 4th choice with Murphy as fallback option, Minteh would have been ideal. With no Europe we can probably manage with Murphy as 4th choice though.

With how glaring a need our RW position is, I can see Bowen being someone we push the boat out for. Obviously there's a point that the price becomes prohibitive but he's as close to a sure thing as you can get in terms of someone who'll be a really high quality RW for us for the next three or four years. 42 goals and 27 assists in the last four seasons of Premier League football. He's only missed six games in those four years too. Generally, I think we'll look to bring in lesser known, younger players in the coming years but I don't think making the odd big splash on an established player like Bowen is going to cripple us in terms of PSR. Our revenue will continue to grow every years and with a proper pipeline of young talent coming through to be either sold for a profit or replace departing first team squad members, we'll be able to make moves like this on the (hopefully rare) occasions when we have a gaping hole in our first team. So yeah, I'd be massively into going for Bowen basically.

I think you lot were probably too big a pack of losers to appreciate how much of a winner he was.

God, can't imagine how badly out of his depth Almiron would be in the SPL. They'd fry him like he was a fucking Mars bar if he ever tried his hand up there.
-
Natural side effect of being such a winner with a winner's mentality. Must be hard for @liammc414 to have all these brilliant ideas and viewpoints and not have anyone else be smart enough to understand him. A lonely burden.

Spot on that mate, sadly on here a lot of people don't like to hear the truth but I'm glad some people are brave enough to say it. We need fewer players like Almiron and more fans like you if this club is ever gonna go anywhere. That's the cold, hard, penetrative truth.

Any excuse to throw yourself on top of me.

Mbuemo and Neto if we really want to make some noise.

Hard to be anything other than positive about this. On paper, he's as good as you're going to get. Obviously it's not a one man job, he'll need to put a team together. The fact he's done well finding players at multiple clubs is promising though. Being massively optimistic, there's a decent chance this has worked out absolutely ideally for us. We got Wheel Nonce in for a couple of years to build up the club behind the scenes, something that's his supposed strong point. Now with those foundations in placed, he's rolled off and we've replaced him with Mitchell, whose strength seems to be finding talent before they've become expensive, something that we'll need to excel at if we're going to compete in the age of PSR.
-
I don't know, I feel you kind of have to assume that your 50m midfielder is pretty decent and will feature a fair amount. He might flop but he'll be given every opportunity to not do so. For the record I'd very much be interested in moving on Longstaff and bringing in a new CM with more upside. I'd probably currently rank CM behind RW, versatile forward, CB and GK in terms of priority targets though.
-
I think on paper he'd be pretty much the ideal player for what we need at RW and I'd be very surprised if we're not interested, his name has been mentioned in connection to us for years. Has the qualities of a winger in terms of being able to run at and beat a man but also likes to get on the ball and try to pick a killer pass in the final third. Seems unclear as to what sort of wages he's on though, may be out of our range. And would he want to go to a club not in Europe while he's aged 27, in his prime? I'd also be a little worried about a player moving to us as a downwards step. Will he have the motivation? Think there's a fair chance he moves this summer, think we'll have an interest. Not sure we'll land him though.
-
I'd be much more confident in our backup midfielders than I would in our backup attackers. Willock and Longstaff have proven that they can be effective players in an Eddie Howe Newcastle team playing top four football. Miley also needs a path to being involved in the first team if he's going to develop like we hope. Even once we sign a RW, our depth there will be poor. Assuming Gordon - Isak - New RW is first choice, Barnes is the only one who's good enough after that IMO.

Thiaw Thiaw Thiaw How do you like it? How do you like it? Thiaw Thiaw Thiaw

Aye the idea that we need to make more space for a RW when we already have a massive, gaping hole at that position seems odd Move on Almiron and Wilson, sign a first choice RW and a young striker who is also comfortable playing wide (ideally on the right side) and we'll be looking good. Keep Murphy as a reserve and shithousing specialist to close out games we're leading. Also seems Eddie trusts him to play RB if needed, which will be particularly handy if Trippier moves on.
-
Because we only had issues until the end of June 30th. Once that passed, we've less need to come down off our supposed 20m asking price. I'd imagine there was a meeting somewhere in the middle, I'm sure they really didn't want to wait another year to have a key member of their rebuild in place.
-
"Listen sir I'm gonna need you to get all the way off my back about the lack of end product." "Why?" "So the transfer can happen." "That works!"
-
That Ben Jacobs always reminds me of Ryan from Pitch Meeting when his tweets are posted. He should post in that style IMO. "So, you have a transfer for me?" "Yes sir, I do. It's called Miguel Almiron to Saudi Arabia." "Wow, it's gonna be hard for Newcastle to get good money for him at his age." "Actually it's gonna be super easy, barely an inconvenience."

Aye, RCB seems a certainty. We were very clearly keen on Tosin. RW RCB Versatile Forward GK Reckon that's the list of where we're trying to bring in impact players in order. I'd personally put the versatile forward second on the list but I think it's third for the club. I reckon we might punt on the GK situation until next year.
-
If we moved on Wilson and Almiron and then brought in MGW and Mbuemo (or two players that fit those moulds) I'd feel really good about us going into next season. Isak, Gordon, MGW, Barnes and Mbuemo is a really good quintet to fill the front three spots while giving us depth and options off the bench. Lots of versatility there too. Murphy as the sixth man of the front options. Would also give us the option of going 4-2-3-1 with MGW in the hole.

Aye, I guess my question was if we can afford to be in the red next year if it's taking the place of the 21/22 year. These aren't meant to be super accurate figures, but just for simplification sake let's say they are... 21/22 - 70m loss 22/23 - 70m loss 23/24 - 40m profit Overall 100m loss. Inside the 105m maximum loss allowable. The next June 30th deadline, the figures would be. 22/23 - 70m loss 23/24 - 40m profit 24/25 - ? Doesn't that mean we can afford a pretty heavy operating loss this year? (Obviously, we don't want to find ourselves back in a dodgy spot in a couple of years so don't want to fly too close to the sun, but you get the idea)
-
So is the belief that our 21/22 and 22/23 numbers were both pretty ropey, hence the need to make a solid profit in 23/24 to be compliant for the last three years? If so, that sets us up pretty well over the next two years as our next two PSR end of year deadlines will also include the 23/24 figures. Consensus seems to be that our 21/22 numbers were quite bad, so we can afford to be pretty aggressive now this summer. (Not super confident on the three year operating loss thing so would actually appreciate correction or clarification on any of that)
