  1. What's taking so long?! The plane has clearly landed, make him sign the fucking contract!! Sick of this incompetence, can see this one going tits up.

    Alan Pardew

Thinly veiled 'I can afford NUFC TV' post. Pathetic.
  3. I don't think it's about being frugal as we agreed a price for him. If his value's gone up since then they have the option to sell elsewhere, but not many clubs want to pay £6m for a 27 yr old full back with no resale value otherwise he'd have been signed already. Agree with this. The longer this goes on, the less interested I am in seeing him here. It might be a good idea to see how young Tavernier goes in the position before shelling out shitloads on a 27 year old.
  4. Remember Pardew said we were playing "fast paced, front foot football" last year? Still the best attempt at dressing up the long ball I've heard.
  5. Aye, saw that too. I can see why people want us to just stump up the extra cash, but if we hold our ground here and ultimately get the player without raising our bid again it'll serve us well in the future. Sends a message. Not sure it's worth the risk of missing out entirely of course.

    Justice for the Mikems.

Anyway, Fletcher will make them better, silly money obviously but he's a good player. Hope the Ward thing comes through for them too, seen him play a dozen or so times for Ireland and still have no idea if he's left or right footed.

Mike on the SMB. Can't even come up with a smartarse comment good enough for that.
  9. Poor, bloody poor !!. You try living with someone who sometimes smells like an army latrine. "sometimes"

I do enjoy Brummie's posts in this thread.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

In a 4-4-2 he is a winger yes, but a very ordinary one. I think he looks much better suited to being one of the three in a 4-3-3. He just doesn't carry anywhere near enough offensive threat out wide, something you need your wide men to do in any system. In three years in the Premiership with us he's got 5 goals and 10 assists, that's absolutely wank tbf. I know statistics aren't the be all and end all but I don't think you'd argue that he's a player that really worries teams. I get that he does great work defensively, but that shouldn't excuse him being more or less hopeless in the final third. It's a major part of being a winger and he really comes up short. He's a great squad player and against the really top teams where you're going to be under pressure he's wonderful, and if we're going to be fielding a 4-3-3 then I'd have no problems with Jonas regularly starting in CM, but if we're going to try and revert to a 4-4-2 then I hope that Marveaux takes his spot on the left pretty quickly tbh.

Thought Tooj's post was about Jonas there, didn't know what to make of it.

It's hardly a shocking statement tbf, Jonas is better in CM.
  14. I'd possibly wank to to the death if we got those three in with no outgoings.

    Other clubs' transfers

I'll be amazed if Rodwell ever ends up being a top player now, it's a terrible move for him. He's got bags of ability but he needs to be playing regularly if he's ever going to realise it. At the moment he's too raw, and isn't good enough to start for them in anything other than the easier fixtures. He'll still be a good player, but I doubt he'll ever get near what he has the ability to be. Fucking Man City, what a shit fucking club.
  16. Aye, would prefer a different style of striker to Carroll but I'd take that.
  17. I quite like Jonas at LB actually. Santon right. Don't think Jonas has looked great at fullback any time he's been there, out of position a lot.
  18. In theory not necessarily, it should be the system we use but we could also play 4-3-1-2 with Hatem behind Ba and Cisse but give him the freedom to move across the front line and use fullbacks to provide extra width. Maybe. Hope it's not a flat 4-4-2 in any case, it's not really a great system for the players we have.
  19. Or maybe Santon is going to the right? By all accounts Anita is a CM. Can play left back in a pinch but it'd be a real waste of his talents making that his primary position.
  20. Seriously man, we have to play 4-3-3, don't we?!
