Pleased with that side, hope it is a 4-2-3-1. Very interested to see Marveaux on the left in that system.

Thread title change needed IYAM.

Nobody is saying that at all. The alternative that some people thing the team will suffer badly without him tonight is even more moronic mind I don't know, he's an absolutely top keeper. If I believed we had a competent backup then by all means rest Krul. I don't think we do though, and given that it's nowhere near as difficult for a keeper to play two games in 48 hours as it is for an outfield player then I'd start him tbh. So you prefer that incompetent backup to have zero match sharpness if something happened to Krul before Chelsea? Really cant understand this attitude by people, GK is the least of our worries tonight and Pardew has picked Harper(apparently) yet fans know better I don't believe any amount of match sharpness is going to make Harper any better, if Krul gets injured we're in real trouble regardless of how match fit our keepers are. I'm confident we'll get the result regardless, but with it being such a big game for us I'd have played a stronger team than the one it looks like we might be sending out there.

Yeah, hard to see Krul being anything other than a compete emotional wreck against Chelsea if he has to play tonight as well.

Same. I'm all for resting some of the outfield players but Krul should play. Aye its not like Harper need any match practice in case Krul gets a red card or injury this season. I don't think other clubs really do rotate their goalkeepers a lot during European games, do they? Man Utd/Chelsea/Arsenal/Man City have all given their sub keepers various games during last season for a start(Man Utd not so much through choice but played Amos in some games too) Harper isnt going to get much sharpness playing in the reserves which are usually relaxed kickabouts compared to real games. If harper need to play, then he should play at 2nd leg after good result in 1st leg. and make Krul play 2 games in 48 hours, during which time he has to fly to london from Athens? He just has to fucking stand there for most of the game, think he'll not be too fatigued.

Would really rather we went for someone who can play out wide and up front, someone with a bit of pace. Really commit to the 4-3-3. Signing Carroll is the opposite of that. It'd be exciting having him back and I think he'd do well for us, but I just don't feel it's the right move for us right now.

Sorry, I did read it tbf. Anyway, I think we'll have to sit tight for ten more days and wait and see how things turnout before making any judgements. A number of clubs are in the same boat, I think that in recent years it's just become more of the done thing to wait nearer the end of the window to do your dealings, not sure why that is. My own guess is that our policy is to identify a few targets, bid what we feels a fair price for them and if the clubs don't accept we'll walk away. I don't think we go in to windows with a transfer budget set at any cumulative number, rather we try and do good business where we can and don't pay over our valuations even if it may set the team back and mean we miss out on targets. Coud be a very frustrating window if we don't get a new RB, really hope we at least get that sorted.

If Krul has travelled he should start like.
-
His goal at Italia 90 is my first football memory, I think. Hope he beats this, sad news.
-
Think Perch will play. Aye actually, I'd stick him RB ahead of Tav then.
-
Be surprised if Campbell starts, maybe he'll get on as a sub. ----------------------- Krul Tavernier -- Williamson -- Good -- Raylor Anita -- Gosling Obertan --------- Amalfitano ------ Marveaux -------------------- Cisse
-
Pip has supported Barca and Real his whole life, it's understandable for him to be excited.
-
Think you give up a loyalty bonus by submitting a transfer request don't you? So Lille would get to keep a few bob more if they do sell him, probably not a huge amount but it is something.
-
They invented the perfect corner man, no need for a big guy anymore.
-
I wonder if this is the way it's being viewed. Colo, Taylor, Williamson, Perch, Good as our CB options, perhaps we think we can get by. Personally feel fullback and another attacker are more pressing needs, especially fullback. A CB would have been nice though.
-
Where to begin?
-
Aye, as amazing as his pens have been it's always a surprise to me when he fires another unstoppable bullet into the corner. He'll blatantly have a penalty to win us a trophy some day and make a complete fucking mess of it.
-
Sounds like Tooj's type of manager.
-
No thanks. At least they have Vidic, like Colo for us. Equivalent would be Taylor, Williamson, Perch and Good out I suppose. Play Tiote there maybe? Tav or Simpson?
-
Fucking hell, no messing about there.
-
Colo Ben Arfa Krul In that order, the signing of Anita should hopefully make Cabaye and Tiote less significant losses should they get injured.
-
What is this I don't even?

I hope they'll be able to recover emotionally at some point. Don't think it does any harm personally but I can understand your point of view, fair enough.
