    Nile Ranger

Strikes me as the kind of player who has gotten by at youth level by just being physically better and more naturally gifted at football than his peers, not going to be enough in the future though. Obviously he's still very young so far too soon to write him off, but he needs a lot of work if he's going to make it in the Premiership IMO.
  2. Nah, don't think so, we just have absolutely NOTHING in terms of quality up front. Lovenkrands is no better at football than I am, and Ranger is absolutely thick. Just need to get to the end of the season and hopefully we'll be able to bring in a couple of real strikers. The rest of the team has potential to be useful, though. Still think we could get something today though with a bit of luck, Villa look very poor considering some of the players they have.
  3. Playing every week in the Premiership rather than the Belgian league with a few Champions League games thrown in would be better for his development, I'd imagine. As others have said though, there'll be several better clubs who'll want him if he does leave so absolutely fuck all chance of it happening. Mike Ashley is our chairman, also.
  4. Colo just edges it from Nolan for me.
  5. Tiote's by a fucking country mile. Taking it first time on the full volley, weaker foot, absolutely flushed it into the corner. One of the hardest techniques to pull off in football, and he absolutely nailed it. Even without the epic circumstances surrounding the goal it's still the best we've scored this year by quite some way.
  6. Little depressing that one of Man U or Chelsea are probably be going to be in the final... I'd fancy either of them to do Inter tbh. Barring a massive upset there's going to be a very tasty semi final with Barca v the winner of Real/Spurs.
  7. Agree with Ronaldo. Barca - Spurs Man U - Real Madrid Would be what I'd like to see if possible.
  8. QPR, Norwich, Forest. Leeds were horrible, scummy cunts the last time round and you know they would be again.
  9. Pity Steven Taylor isn't left footed.
  10. Problem is what sort of club is going to want those players when you consider the wages they'll be on? Smith and Ryan Taylor will be practically impossible to get rid of, surely. Campbell is out of contract and Guthrie apparently is on fuck all, can't imagine Lovenkrands is on much either. Should be no problem moving then. No idea what Perch is on, probably too much.

i travel a lot (less so these days) for work and believe me when you're going through airports regularly for work it really can become a grind When you back in Korea btw?
  12. That goal he scored, think it was against Chelsea, where Viana played and absolutely immensely weighted ball and Bernard got there just before the keeper and, despite the fact that he was running full pelt, somehow dinked the ball over him. That and the fucking rocket against Arsenal.
  13. Lived in Cork for two years before moving to Korea. Not sure which was a bigger culture shock.

Remember people on here telling me at the time that challenge was just poorly timed. Horrific challenge like.

Dyer always struck me as being an incredibly natural athlete to be fair, first game back from injury he was always lightning fast and looked sharp as fuck. Not saying he didn't work hard on top of it, but you can definitely see he was a natural athlete like very few others I've seen.
  16. Be interesting to see what happens if both are available. I'd guess Ireland will start from the bench with Shola starting in place of Lovenkrands. Maybe Ireland out right if Barton isn't back?
  17. Dark side Dave makes me sad.

Gonna be class when Stu comes in here. Still think you're remembering Dyer as a better player than he was Apisith, though if I were trying to build a team I'd take a fit Dyer over Nolan any day.
  19. Ireland in the team instead of Lovenkrands would be a big boost, hopefully he's fit enough to start.

Apisith, I liked Dyer more than most but I really think you're overrating him quite a bit. Yes he had a few great games for us but more often than not he just ran around the place like a headless chicken while you sat there waiting for him to finally do something useful with the fucking ball in the final third. No doubt his running and energy were an asset to the side, but his actual end product was very much lacking and I could never think of him as a top player as a result.

On his day Dyer was class. Those days were all to rare though, and not just because of injury. Some days he just seemed to go through the motions and the game would pass him by, was a shame because when he had the bit between his teeth he really was a useful player.

What should be taken away from the last two posts is how much better my taste in films is than Yorkie's.
