Aye I don't disagree, if we're aiming to compete at the highest level... but if I'm looking at the groups of players, I still think that group of midfielders is healthier than our defender/striker groups, for various reasons. Ideally we just sign everyone we need, but if I'm drinking the "FFP Restrictions" Kool-Aid, then midfield wouldn't be my priority.

We already bought Tonali innit. Miley/Longy/Joelintony/Willy/Andersony/Tonaliy. Plenty of midfielders. If we do sell up, and we're as limited in the market as we're being repeatedly told, I'd probably prefer we spent on a striker and some defenders.

Going off the pink seats, I'd imagine they had quite a few of those tickets leftover. Sustainability ftw.

I'm sure had we signed those players they all would have cost twice as much anyway, given the ol' Saudi tax.

Probably worth remembering we only have 2 league games this month (city and villa), so I can't imagine we're going to be desperate to pay over the odds to get anyone in early, as much as it would be preferable to do so. I doubt we'll do much, but if we do, I reckon it'll be late.

Was surprised how small they seem as a team. Used to watching our man mountains. Was a bog standard middle of the row champo match, that. Preston looked talentless, Sunderland looked like they had a few half decent players but nowt noteworthy.

Mostly an American pet hate here, but games being on a different channel to the build up show. I inevitably watch ten minutes of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows rather than the first ten minutes of the game. Now you could make the point that I’m an idiot, which can’t be refuted, but it’s my pet hate and I’m sticking with it.
