  1. Didn't Doctor Evil ask for 1 million first as well? "Here's the plan, we use Neil Taylor to hold Newcastle to ransom for... 1 million pounds!" "Don't you think we should ask for more?, a million pounds isn't exactly a lot of money these days, Newcastle alone this season will make £100m" "Really?, that's a lot of money, Ok then, we hold Newcastle to ransom for... 10 million pounds!!" http://esseoh.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/dr-evil.jpg
  2. They signed him from the Conference. He's probably on about 1-2k tbh. Big deal for him if we've gone and offered him like 10-15k a week. Maybe the prospect of earning at least 10k is what's swaying him to want to move here? I'm fairly certain we are probably offering wages which are significantly higher than what he's earning at Swansea.

Nah it's simple. Dalglish sits in the house and drinks a bottle of whiskey, he then turns on SSN and the first footballer they mention he makes a bid. Makes sense.
  4. I'd imagine we would be paying him wages higher than what he is currently on at Swansea. In terms of the wage bracket, he may be in the Simpson bracket if we sign him.
  5. That picture of the gamepad in the Sunderland thread sums up Gibson brilliantly.
  6. No-one on this board has seen this supposed "buy-out" clause. It may very well only permit initial talks. Eh? How would that work in any way Easy. Clubs are not obligated to allow their players to talk with any clubs whilst they are under contract. It is entirely at their discretion. An "interest" clause is just that. From what I can gather, no money changes hands at that stage. It gives the selling club an opportunity to test the buying club's resolve without forcing them to sell. So what, you pay £1 million to talk to the player? Or you bid £1 million, they have to accept and let you speak to the player, but then you go back and negotiate a new fee? There is absolutely no point to that whatsoever man. Why would it even exist? This, it is a ridiculous clause to have!

Best rumour ever As if things can't get any worse for Villa......
  8. That's actually a good shout. Not sure if I want him back
  9. I usually like Tyler but what he said there is just worthy.
  10. I've noticed a lot of the players from that period have that sort of mentality. If I remember correctly Carr and Rozehnal both made some pretty bitter comments on leaving, Owen is always making thinkly-veiled jibes on twitter, Duff you mentioned, and obviously there was Abdoulaye Faye's celebration. Not to mention Parker having a go at the fans. There was a real victim mentality amongst that set of players. He has since said a lot of good things about us to Cabaye though.

  13. @lee_ryder Lee Ryder #nufc Jay Bothroyd denies Celtic talks eh? Newcastle cooled interest but long way to go in window. 51 minutes ago via Twitter for BlackBerry® Phew....
  14. I know we only got him for a 'bargain' £5m, but for me he was genuinely one of the most disappointing signings of the last decade in terms of expectations vs reality. So, so bad.
