  1. He would have been 3rd choice behind Shearer and Bellamy anyway. This is one thing i am glad the fat one didnt cash in on! Don't get us wrong mate, I'm not saying we should've signed him, more just trying to find some justification for how this proves that Robson was going "doolally". Could've been a Sibierski, for all we know. Robson was looking to sell him in the 2001/2 season. At the time Shearer was still a 20 goal a seaon striker. My point is yes agree he might have been a useful squad addition, but Bobby wanted him partnering Bellamy up front as his first choice. Maybe doolally is a bit OTT but there was definately a couple of holes starting to appear in his marble sack if he wanted to go through the season with Mpenza and Bellamy as our front 2, whilst giving Liverpool who at the time were our equals the premieships all time leading striker with a couple of good years still left in the tank. Fair enough.
  2. Not read the thread, but I reckon Arsenal are slowly building up to old ways. Ferguson has proved that money isn't what's needed to match and beat Chelsea, and Wenger is one of the best team builders around. They'll be as good a shout as any for next season, especially if Man U win it this year, although you'd need to wait and see what type of reaction Chelsea throw. It's getting harder for them to buy the title, but it's possible.

  4. would he have scored 206 goals in 10 seasons while missing the most part of 2 of them is the question you should be asking yourself Yeah, of course. Whilst obviously wanting someone to do that, to expect them to is rather laughable. What with it being our record goalscoring tally, and that. I'm sure you're joking, though...

  6. 3-4 years ago he was doing pretty well for Schalke with Ebbe Sand, I'm sure. Him signing for Man City now hardly proves he was shite then, does it? Maybe not the "rising star" but if we'd signed him then, he'd have done a job.
  7. The type of thing that terrifies the life out of me with our Glenn. I'd hope it does with others too.
  8. I can't be alone in finding this one man (apparent) race hating machine hilarious, can I?
  9. So do I actually, can't ignore the fact he's been hampered by injuries. The only thing that worries me is, when we're bad, we're really bad, but when we're good, we're just good (sometimes lucky). In short, his bad times terrify me a whole lot more, as they can depend on momentum, and the momentum of our season can change at any one point, as we've already seen so far.
  10. Would've scoffed at a few, if I'm honest, I think everyone would've. I had no doubt Roeder would still be our manager, Shay doesn't surprise me so much, but the rest, pleasent surprises.
  11. Well, however big Everton are, they're not bigger than Celtic, it pains me to say. Celtic are a pretty big club, all things considered (being stuck in Scotland for one), and for anyone to claim Everton are then bigger, they're going to need to justify that.
  12. First-half diagnosis? Second-half diagnosis? Full-time diagnosis? Star man for United? Worst United player? Opposition comment? Toon-pros? Toon-cons? Post-match feelings?
  13. The last two quotes made me cringe, intensely, for some reason.
  14. Just finished, 1-0 to Spain. One result closer to McClaren leaving.
  15. So what was the score? Managed to miss this, devastated. :'(
  16. Thought the exact same. On the subject, fair play to the both of them. It's just fucking banter. If anything, it's good for the game.
  17. Forgive me, here, but is that supposed to be bad or something? Not disputing what went on, just those pictures look bleeding harmless.
  18. My admiration for Barton grows by the day... What was it he was supposed to have said about them (Gerrard, Rooney, Lampard) releasing books?
  19. Sad, but true. We can hope for all the Leeds United scenarios in the world, it isn't going to happen. Plus, the two situations don't even begin to compare.
  20. Anyone other than Chelsea, for the sake of the league, but otherwise I couldn't care less. Probably prefer Arsenal to win it out of any of the top 4, for the obvious reasons.
  21. To be fair, it wouldn't be much of a defence. So, they say negro in the video? It's not like they're going up to a black guy and calling him it, are they? It's a bloody biscuit! "Oh, MY GOD! We can't be racists, we call our biscuits negros."
