  1. Half a year ago. Had a good world cup as well, not as though he was shiite like plenty of other top players.
  2. Easily predicted. Anyone who had seen him play for Chelsea in his final two seasons could have seen this coming, because he was as shit for them as he has been for us.

Phil Neville was utter shit all game too.
  4. Jenas can run through the middle with pace.

Forget Rooney, I think England missed Hargreaves the most.

His passing ability is pretty overrated too. Hes definately a good passer, but not much more than that. Several of the Spanish players tonight were alot superior in their passing, they were spreading passes nonchalantly that Carrick would need time and a small run up to play. Decent player in his own right, and a good player for ManU beause theyve always wanted/needed that type of player for their system (hence the reason for spending so much on Veron), but im glad the Carrick wankfest is now well and truly over.

Brilliant little player. Hopefully, our one wont be too far off that level if he continues to improve (talking about Newcastle, ie Martins).

Dyer was back to his old self. Good movement and running, dire end product. Frustrating, because hes got the ability to be a good player at that level, hes just extremely hesitent when he gets the chance to do something and lacks composure. Maybe he was just nervous...
  9. Martins has a right to be pissed at his FA though, they could have ruined his career.
  10. So when Gullitt, former Eurpean Player of the Year who has won numerous trophies including several Serie A titles and the CL twice, as well the ECs, whilst winning two trophies as manager of Chelsea, criticises Shearer, Shearer is also in the right?
  11. Scolari would be a big coup because itd be like appointing the highest ranking scout from Brazil and Portugal rolled into one. He no doubt knows who the good players are and at a time when were both struggling to attract players and for reasonable fees, hed surely give us a big boost in both categories. But lets face it, Fat Fred isnt going to go for a foreign manager, especially one with no Premiership experience, since its something Shephard has never done.
  12. That is absolutely ridiculous. Why should Martins be forced to play for his country if he doesnt want to? And why should we suffer for it, unless it can be proven for a fact that we ordered him not to play for Nigeria?
  13. Hes a key player for us, make no mistake about it. The impact he makes in the team is unquestionable, and I think its a case of something weve all experienced when playing football at some point - when someone who is a significantly better footballer comes onto the pitch, everyone passes to him and has trust in his abilities, and it changes the way the team plays. The same happens with Emre and to a lesser extent, Nobby (because he doesnt play centrally). All three players change the way the team plays to a degree, and when we have as many poor or inconsistent footballers as we do, its vital we have them in the team. Even though they lack end product compared to top class players (bar Nobby), its when theyre not in the team or have just returned that we see what a difference they can make. Once were used to that impact they make, of course the complaints naturally follow. However, as you say, Dyer isnt doing too well up front. As a forward, hes good on the break and the odd linkup between midfield and attack, but essentially he spends too much of the time in the wrong areas of the pitch for that type of forward. Compare his positional play to someone like Gudjohnsen, who plays a similar role when in his natural position, theres a big gulf in the threat and linkup play between both players, and in both cases its in favour of Gudjohnsen. I think Dyer hasnt got the discipline or the know-how to play this role permanently (yet), spending too much of the game getting bogged down in central midfield trying to start things off. Much of the time Martins is isolated because Dyer is back 30 yards linking up with midfield players. Maybe thats because with a midfield of Parker/Butt, hes forced to do so in order to inject some creativity, but essentially if hes going to become a forward, he needs to play further up the pitch and concentrate on doing his job, rather than trying to do someone else's. When he has been close to Martins, theyve both linked up extremely well, but thats been far too infrequent. Dont think he should lose his striking place to anyone in the current squad except Owen though.
  14. Ridiculous how theyve spent 350mill yet had to resort to cheating to beat an injury plagued side with academy players playing.
  15. Meh, maybe its just me then. In the summer, majority of people on this forum and those I worked with labelled him as an overrated diving shitbag with no end product, even though he was easily the best young player in the WC. Since then, whenever theres any thread made about the best player in the league, Ronaldo's name rarely crops up. Rooney, Henry, Gerrard, etc are regularly mentioned as the best in this country and often the world, yet Ronaldo shits on all of them because he rips teams apart on a more consistent basis. Just dont think hes rated as highly as he should be by alot of people, online and irl.
  16. Also, Cristiano Ronaldo. Hes better than Wayne Rooney, and has been ever since Rooney moved to ManU. Best player in the league this season by a country mile, but im betting he wont get recognised for it. Not really unsung, but just underrated, even though hes ripping teams to shreds by sheer individual ability/class alone.
  17. Anelka. Class act, but ridiculously hated on because of his "Le Sulk" reputation. Isnt any more or less arrogant than your Henrys, Shearers or Owens, only difference between them and him is he doesnt handle situations as well as them in the public eye - they say the right things, like politicians, and keep their real thoughts in private, if they want to move theyll do so behind the scene using their own people to set things in motion, whereas Anelka says what he feels publicly and tries to force a move if clubs dont want to sell. Surrounded by the wrong people giving him the wrong advice compared to others of his ability, which isnt suprising considering his brothers are/were his agents whilst others have big, powerful professional agents/organisations acting on their behalf.
  18. But we can't put money on the pitch against Liverpool on Saturday can we? We could put a line of coke on the grass if Fowler is playing.
  19. Luque's signing was at the time reported by most sources to be those of the two Shephard brothers. That entire summer was a debacle of transfers, yet Souness gets all the blame for it. He wanted 4-3-3, he wanted players like Anelka and Boa Morte, but he ended up with players the chairman decided to sign, Luque firstly, and Owen second, as the big England international signing - a signing which rendered his 4-3-3 plans useless.
  20. As if we would do anything as sensible as lining up a replacement early. Shephard wouldnt even start looking at potential replacements until the Monday after Martins has departed.
  21. That backheader he made to Harper early on in the game when Helguson could have scored was utter Carr.
  22. But Carr is mates with Shay and Damien. Thats the type of club we are. Jobs for the lads, signings for the pals.
