  1. Shevchenko is probably the best forward in the league, but the most off form, with low confidence and in a team not suited to him.
  2. Edited. I think youll find it more accurate now, a few too many players were wrongfully underrated by me. Apologies.
  3. Kuyt and Berbatov would be a poor partnership surely.

Hes playing extremely well for someone who is only 160% fit.
  6. To be fair to Reina, his broom slipped out of his hand just as he went to kick the ball.
  7. Aye, I'm happy. My team won, Bellamy was plagued by bad luck otherwise he'd have scored 4. Imagine him in our team playing alongside Martins instead of Dyer, something Newcastle fans would be over the moon about if it happened. Owen for Bellamy this summer maybe? By the way, using doesn't make it any less abusive than using the words. No need. That would be a great piece of business, but hardly likely is it ? He was superb yesterday and showed he has lost none of his desire and passion, just glad he didn't round it off with goals. You're right Martins and Bellamy would terrify any premiership defence. The booing yesterday was pretty minimal - it's always gonna be audible - but no one around where I was sitting joined in which probably indicates the majority of NUFC fans still appreciate him. If only we could get him back in a B&W shirt ?? How would swapping some thats likely to score 15-20 goals a season for one that would struggle to score 10 be a good piece of business? Dont get me wrong bellamy is a great player but he isnt half the player owen is. Which we will see next season. Owen and Martins will be a much better partnership than Bellars and Martins IMO. The flack Owen gets on this board is ridiculous. Personally think Bellamy Martins would be a much better partnership. Bellamy creates tons of space for his team and his performance against us reminded me of how quickly a team can counter attack purely because of Bellamy's running - similar to C.Ronaldo in terms of effect, one second theyre on the back foot, the next second theyre bombing forward and before you get over your team missing the chance, the ball is in our penalty area. I think his work down the flank, with Martins down the middle, would be an unstoppable combination. A perfect counter-attacking combo. Martins Owen would be a different type of frontline, more lethal in terms of goals alone, but wouldnt be as beneficial to the team as a partnership with Bellamy in it. Bit like the difference between the Ferdinand Beardo partnership, and the Shearer Ferdinand partnership. The first one led to a far more fluid team whilst together they scored less, the second one both players scored heavily but the team was less fluid.
  8. Depends on how you look at it. On paper, well have Martins, Owen, Ameobi, and Dyer. In reality, Owen and Dyer are, and have proven to be, crocks, whilst Ameobi is regularly shiite, even though he can score "frequently" if hes given a constant run in the team. Which only leaves Martins. We also have another "forward" on the books, one who isnt doing anything for the club on the pitch, in Luque, so when he goes we do have space to bring someone in. One more body would be an important addition for me, because it leaves us safe if certain situations happen, situations which are certainly possible - injuries, players wanting out - and it also ensures someone like Ameobi doesnt get shedloads of games when hes too poor to be playing every week. I think we mostly need someone to do the job Dyer is doing, but a forward who is better at it and is a much bigger goal threat. A Gudjohnsen/Tevez/Villa type forward would bring the best out of this team imo (obviously those players are probably way out of our league, Villa certainly is), because theyd be able to partner the likes of Owen/Martins and get the best out of them, whilst linking up with the team and pulling the strings. Bringing a big guy in would merely see us pumping more long balls up, a style of play that would be detrimental to Martins/Owen because theyre not the types of forward to be chasing flick ons all day long. They want the ball at feet, whether its through balls or played into them so they work with it. Martins looks a different player entirely purely because hes not having to run around chasing flicks on from Sibierski.
  9. Oh f*** off man, £13.4m for a bloke that didn't play for 2 years after was fantastic business from Shepherd. Aye, that money was badly needed, and well spent on Boumsong, Babayaro and Faye.
  10. Yet again their best player by a country mile when coming off the bench.
  11. I would hope we could do better than Yakubu.
  12. Let me guess. Copyrights HTL? Indeed. Milner has always looked comfortable on either wing. Better on the right, yes, because of his crossing, but still very comfortable there. Alot more than good enough as a backup for that wing. How old are you? Why you feel the need to lie on the forum is beyond me, tbh. No need. Here is a link to what I actually said, which is different to what is said in your lie.... http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=35515.msg690722#msg690722 Which means, in simple terms for you to understand, that Milner on the left is like Taylor at RB, he can fill in but that's all. In my opinion. Youve merely changed your stance. No suprise there. Read this post of yours: http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=35585.msg692363#msg692363 Let me repeat what you said: "Dyer and Milner arent good enough for the left. You can't just throw someone at a position and say 'hey presto', we've filled that gap on the left." Heres what I said: "Milner has always looked comfortable on either wing. Better on the right, yes, because of his crossing, but still very comfortable there. Alot more than good enough as a backup for that wing." Honestly, theres no arguements imo, Milner can play on the left as much as Owen can play up front or Given can play in goal. Two sensible posts from me that you've linked to there, neither of which say what you claimed I said. Just keep the lies coming. How old are you? What lie are you on about? Bramble was shocking in the first half. The only reason this isnt being widely acknowledged is because Bellamy failed to convert his chances.
  14. Aye, but the point of that discussion/thread was that it was a tad silly to spend 5mill and 70k per week on a backup player for the left wing, when we already have 2-3 adequate ones, whilst having not a single fullback good enough for anywhere near where we want to be, as well as being in the need for a good centreback AND a good forward.

  17. His general play. His control, technique, linkup, passing, vision, dribbling, etc, on a consistent basis. Its often poor. Similar to Milner. Good player when hes producing something, but general play can be poor, eg in comparison to the likes of Nobby, Dyer etc. Too many players like this and the team will get nowhere near top 4 imo.
  18. Tevez. He is by far their best player. Also think hes going to be one of the best forwards in this league. Hes already very impressive for them, and thats without scoring. Similar to Oba, Tevez just needs more time to find his feet in this league. Ashton is a good player in his own right, but firstly hes a crock which hes been called long before his current 7-8 month injury, secondly his general play is often poor, thirdly hed encourage us to play long ball, which would be to the detriment of both Martins and Owen, and fourthly hed cost a bomb.
  19. Spurs' rise was down to Arnesen, without him theyre basically nothing. Few of their fans want to admit it as well.

Hasnt really been tested yet. Its strange how Bramble seems to attract all the pressure, hes like a magnet for the opposition. Gooch spends most of the game having little to do except for mopping up. Looks pretty solid though from the 2 games hes played. Very average, but no mistakes and does what youd expect a centreback to do.
  21. James Milner was the worst player on the pitch, after all he CANT play down the left ! mackems.gif

    Sidwell

Good player in the making, certainly someone we could do with, but if hes on a free I expect bigger fish to be sniffing around.
  23. How did they manage to sign him after the window closed? Or was he released by Valencia?
  24. Why is it that Gerrard regularly gets called one of the best midfielders in the world, yet consistently on the bigger stages hes looked vastly inferior to those who are considered his "equals"? When on the same pitch as the likes of Xavi, Deco, Kaka, Riquelme, etc, Gerrard is simply shiite in comparison.
