Pretty mixed opinions on here. 😂 I thought he was generally poor, but then he put in the best cross of the match and won us a penalty, so he directly influenced the result. I couldn't understand Nicky Butt raving about his performance on the BBC and I wouldn't have given him MotM. Specific criticisms were a heavy first touch, some poor/sloppy passes, and he seemed on his heels a bit too often, so was slow to the ball. Thought Gordon was far better. Woltemade too was excellent and the spine of the team was solid (centre-backs, centre-mid).

I have, but I haven't heard the commentator saying "we" when referring to a team. Maybe an occasional pundit. Given says "we" about NUFC for instance.

The Turkish commentator on TRT was going mental shouting "we won a penalty, we won a penalty". Non of this non-partisan stuff we'd get on comms here. 😂

Agree. Knew nowt about it but that had a very high chance of being a goal. If it's goalward bound and the arm is away from the body you've got to give that.

I think he excelled at centre-back. Got his England call-up there too if I remember correctly. The day we beat Villa 2-0 at their place he was immense. Wonderful player. I had his name and number on the back of my blue Asics away shirt (Rob Lee on the home).

Not that it means much but Pope is currently leading the golden glove standings. It helps that our defence has been exceptional this year, back to 2022/23 levels. If only we can keep it tight like that when we have Wissa back and Eddie figures out how to work more goals into the team.
