  1. That was my second game this season after Brighton. Next up for the Forest game. 😬

Yep, I think it was that one. Was trying to remember/find it. Cheers!

Was slightly surprised to see they are banned in the NFL. A great play the other week was brought back as the receiver celebrated with a "gun celebration". Obviously has greater significance over there.
  4. That's what I like about the current set up. Maybe it's because they know we have little leeway for a misstep, maybe it's because players who wouldn't quite fit if they arrived at Man U, Spurs, Chelsea etc are being coached into their roles by Eddie and the team - or probably just a combination of the above plus generally good scouting. Whatever, our record since the takeover vis-a-vis our rivals has been excellent. It feels like we're not panicking into signing for signing's sake either. If a decent looking player goes elsewhere now I'm not thinking 'why weren't we in for him?', but I'm assuming for whatever reason we didn't see him as a fit for the club.
  5. Additonally two of our three games where we started without a recognised striker last year were Bournemouth home and away - the away game was the height of our injury crisis so they lucked out a bit.
  6. Reading the Fener supporters' comments on Twitter - generally they're not impressed and don't want him.
  7. Yep, according to this research. https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/only-one-single-football-league-club-now-exists-in-a-conservative-constituency-following-the-2024-general-election-results Weren't that many before the last election - working man's game and all that.
  8. Yep, mainly Labour. Seven or eight Lib Dem I think.
  9. They are five miles down the road from me. Only club of the 92 who are in a Tory constituency (and that was only by 302 votes).
  10. Tamworth will be the one to watch, for those reasons.

    The Other 18

As you say they play Chelsea just before us, and then Forest (and Liverpool) just after. Good for us but all of the other teams around us will face the same Bournemouth. I think we started three games last year without either Isak or Wilson. Two or those were Bournemouth home and away so (provided Isak stays fit for us 🤞) they'll have that challenge this time around.
  12. Not funny in the slightest but as a general small point of interest I'm sure his surname must mean "postman's son" when translated - so one of his ancestors probably was a postie.
  13. Agreed, but I think we can beat the seven we took last year from the same fixtures. I'd fancy six from Soton and Leicester, and something at West Ham. The rest are all tricky but Id like to think we wouldn't lose the lot. Hopefully we can continue our form over Villa and we owe Brighton one.
  14. Austin. As my Spurs-supporting mate said, his dad also used to have an Austin that only started once in seven years.

    Dogawful Officiating

Discussion on Talksport yesterday about the non-penalty for Forest at Wolves. Made me think that it's been ages since I've seen a lino with the flag across the chest, and that handball was the perfect time to make that call. They just won't now because they know VAR will pick it up.
  16. Heard him on the radio a few times. Really good pundit, and comes across as a decent bloke and quite intelligent. Good speaker.
  17. ITV have one leg from each game. Our first leg, their second.
  18. At Man U's current points per game average, assuming we lost every game from now on they wouldn't overtake us until after match week 31.

    Alexander Isak

Think Paul Goddard did it too - that stat is Premier League era only. https://www.themag.co.uk/2021/09/when-all-hope-looked-lost-newcastle-united-1986-87/
  20. Their fans are saying the same on their forum - that we'll take over after 60 mins when their legs go. Hope that's correct, as they have had an extra day of rest over us.
  21. For those who may not have seen it, Deeney had Dubs, Schär and Joelinton in his team after Man U. No mention of Bruno. Martin Dubravka (Newcastle): He's done well since he stepped in and against Manchester United, even though they dominated, he was excellent with his feet, setting off the attacks. I thought he had a really solid performance and it's not something that I have said about him over the years. Fabian Schar (Newcastle) and Jacob Greaves (Ipswich Town): I thought both of them were solid, made really good tackles when they needed to. A lot of the work was done in front of them but any work they were called upon to do, they did really well. They were solid in the tackle, they're not both known for being good footballers but were neat and tidy and did everything you want from a centre-half. Joelinton (Newcastle): We had him in last week, back-to-back weeks now. I just keep thinking how did anyone think he was a number nine? This guy is a monster. He runs over people. That ball got put in the box and there was no chance little Lisandro Martinez from Manchester United was getting that. Arm across him, get out the way, goal. I thought it was a big powerful display. The bloke is an idiot.
