I was thinking the same. Would make a lot of sense. He's been told he can look for a new club and we wait till 1 July to do the paperwork to shift circa £5m into the next PSR year. Would make no sense to send the first team to the other side of the world within hours of the season ending for £2.5m and the then bin double that this PSR year when we don't need to.
  2. I want Türkiye to do well. My other half is Turkish and I've lived in Istanbul so they are my second team in the Euros. Felt so sorry for Georgia there though. Cracking game that.
  3. Ten Haag's not a bad coach. Felt he struggled to get to grips with them for large parts last year and predicted early on we'd finish above them in the league (although it was closer than I expected in the end). He went up in my estimation with that excellent cup final performance despite a load of noise surrounding it. I'd still take quite a few ahead of him though, Howe included, who I think is improving the players he is working with and getting just about the maximum out of his squad (despite a few mistakes last year).
  4. A tricky-ish run-in but that's a cracking set of fixtures. Happy with that after last season.
  5. Commentators spot on about automated offsides. Why the Premier League voted against using it this past season still baffles me. If nothing else it's consistent and quick. VAR been spot on in general which strengthens my feeling that the problem in England is the implementation/quality of officials.

According to that Glenn Roeder wore the number 3 shirt at least once. Don't remember that at all.
  7. He did indeed. Was a mate of my dad's at school.
  8. Should have made sure the alternative club font loaded up probably. Bah humbug…
  9. Reminds me of the Walthamstow FC William Morris hook up for their away shirt (the white one) and anthem jacket. https://admiralsports.com/blogs/journal/walthamstow-fc-2023-25-william-morris-admiral-kit-collection
  10. I paid twice on one card and kept getting redirected without access. Switched cards and got straight in. Ended up being charged three times. Emailed them straight away and eight days later haven't heard owt. Opened a case with my card provider today to reclaim the two errors. You're lucky.
  11. I did that the other day. Got billed twice on one card and still couldn't get access. Just kept redirecting me to the pay screen. Then switched cards and got straight in. Sent them an email as currently I've paid three times for this. Haven't heard owt yet. Will get my card company to recover the money if I have to. If its the same as me every attempt you've made will get billed.

It would be nice if we got in the Conference League, won it, and that co-efficient boost gave us the Champions League with 5th ?
  13. I went "Other". Just for the pureness of the strike I'd go Murphy v Chelsea. Love a hit like that where it's past the keeper before he knows owt about it. Reminds me of O'Brien, Shearer, Robert etc...
  14. If we're well ahead from the first leg of a Conference League qualifier (assuming we qualify) then there's no reason he couldn't take part in the second leg on the day his ban expires to get some minutes in, and then sub appearances in the league for a few weeks after that I'd imagine. I'd guess you're right though - it'll be 5-6 league games in before he's ready to start.
  15. We could well now be playing on that Thursday in a Conference League qualifier. Does the ban cover the 29th or is he eligible to play on the 29th, I wonder? I'm guessing he's OK? If he can play, then a Conference League qualifier could be a good match for minutes ahead of the league game that Sunday.

Tonali injured pre-season or fancied another flutter?
  18. I'd love Brighton to finish 8th as it means we get 6th.
  19. Slightly off topic but Deportivo La Coruna have finally been promoted back to the second tier in Spain.

I remember a Ceefax headline back in the early 90's, which said, "Sunderland to get Ball back for Grimsby". Always tickled me that.
