I think the problem is simple, arrogance. Arrogance is great when you’re getting things right and winning, it’s a massive problem if you’re getting beat and still think you’re right.

Souness played square pegs in round holes, Roeder put square pegs into square holes and turned things round. I think we're at the stage where Allardyce is always going to struggle now because even if he changes things around he'll be the same person who got it wrong last week and the week before. The only way I can seeing him turning things around now is for his to rip into the players in private and see if he can motivate them that way, he'll also have to pick the right players in the right positions but it's only going to become harder for him the longer things go on.

I'll stand by what I said, football is a simple game played by simple people, attempting to win games will get more wins than trying to stop the opposition week after week with the same people who fail to do what the manager wants. I'm sure we'd have done better against the shit teams if we'd actually tried to play on the weaknesses that have been shown up week after week. Teams like Derby and Wigan have been repeatedly beaten because teams have had a go at them, not because teams have tried to soak up pressure and hit them on the break. Allardyce thinks he's cleverer than he is and is repeating his mistakes because he thinks everybody else has got it wrong, not him. The bloke is caught up in his own, and the media hype from his time at Bolton. He was told that he did such a great job that he thinks he's got all of the answers so when it goes wrong it's the fault of others for not doing as he wanted.

Allardyce has created all of his own problems, he's not up to the job, he's a one trick pony. If he'd picked the right players in the positions which they are used to then we'd have more points than we've currently got and would have played better football. Sorry, he's not up to the job.

Shearer wouldn't be my choice, the way he went on just before Gullit was sacked rings alarm bells for me because I'm sure Shearer was more important than the club, at least he was to Shearer.
-
Yes but, he shouldn't be hanging around at that time when he's supposed to be carrying an injury.
-
He may be innocent but the fact that he's been kept in tends to suggest they have a good case against him, innocent or guilty he's a prick for even being out at that time in a City centre, he's got shit for brains.

The player remains in custody. All three are due to appear at Liverpool City Magistrates Court on Friday. What a shit-head.

I'm no fan of London but when it's got up to 30,000 pissed Geordies swelling the numbers then it becomes a different place.

The trips home are a bit shit.

Allardyce Meeting With Senior Players A Week Or Two Ago.

I've just seen it. -
I'll not disappoint you then. Just because you've always had something against Given and now he may just be showing signs of a downward spiral are unconnected.

I think we did, I think we lost it because they had nothing to worry about from us so they were allowed to play a game which didn't include having to worry too much about having to defend.

Going to Wigan and playing 1 up front suggests to me that he doesn't understand his part in our poor performances. I doubt anybody saw the team and expected anything other than what we ended up with, he did the same against Derby, he gave them too much respect and we ended up with the same, a defeat. He's either thick or too arrogant as far as I can see. We all make mistakes in our jobs, most of us see them as mistakes and then try to avoid making the same ones again, he seems incapable of this.
-
None of that has anything to do with us constantly dropping points because the manager doesn't recognise he's part of the problem.
-
Good managers tend to realise when they get something wrong and try to avoid repeating the same mistakes, Allardyce doesn't. Why is Allardyce a 'very good manager?'
-
It did effect our balance, I don't know how we would have put that right, we may have had to use different midfielders for different games if we couldn't have found one to do two different jobs, we needed somebody like Patrick Vieira to run the middle of the team or a couple who could be picked for different games who could bring some of the different aspects that Vieira gave Arsenal.
-
You appeared to want us to do both better and longer, I read that and questioned it, no big deal.

I honestly felt that we'd made progress in that season when we finished 5th by becoming harder to beat, we should have invested then, we would have done so from strength instead of cashing in and making a profit. It's great that Robson gets blamed for the behavior of some of the younger players in the summer of 2004 when you consider that it's the same summer as Gary Speed was peddled behind his back for £750,000. I'm sure having a player like Gary Speed in the dressing room would have done something towards keeping Dyer and Bellamy in check, it may have even reduced the appearance of him as being a lame duck as it was common knowledge amongst the players that this sale was done without the knowledge of the manager. Who cares, let's just blame the manager for making himself a lame duck, let's also slam Bobby for allowing Dyer to crash his car on the way to training and Bellamy for being a thug while away in Wales. Let's slam the manager for that but go mad when Bellamy is sold.

I've got no intention of moving goal posts, I thought you had but you've since explained in more detail and it appears that you haven't.

We lost 3 less games the season we finished 5th than the season we finished 3rd, Robson just needed to turn draws into wins. The season we finished 5th has not been beaten by anybody as far as not losing goes, it's been equalled twice when finishing 2nd but not beaten. If we lose against Chelsea we'll have equalled in 20 games the number lost in the full season.
