  1. Pardew will have seen Jonas as a winger when he arrived, the fact that he does so much work now tracking back will have won him over. I also think that tracking back has blunted him when going forward, even if that wasn't much of a strong point before then. I don't think Jonas has lost any pace because he didn't really have a lot anyway, he just runs around more and no longer has much acceleration, and he’s become more of a marathon runner than a sprinter.
  2. I agree but you know what will happen the first time he's not 100%, he'll be accused of not giving a shit. I’m sure the reception he was given after the Arsenal game will have made stopping easier for him. The fans could have slaughtered him but they didn’t, they did the opposite and things like that will make a difference, even if only a small one.

You're probably right, I seem to remember going to that one to book away travel. Did you just go to a counter which had everything behind it?

The club shop must have brought in next to nothing in those days, I think we had two, that one and the one at the Haymarket which was even smaller.

That photograph is 100% Barrack Road, you can still see the old Leazes wall on the left and the car park was behind that. You can also see a stand behind the gate on the right, if that was the Gallowgate you would have seen the roof of the Milburn with a slope and you would have seen the flat end of the milburn.

They aren't the same ones, the ones in this picture were on the corner of Strawberry Place and Barrack Road. The ones which are being brought back were just off Barrack Road and roughly where the road is now where you get into the car parks at the back of the Leazes. You went through the gates to get to the Leazes and West Stand turnstiles, we also had a club shop, a small car park and ticket office on the right as soon as you got through the gates and I think the managers office was next to those.

The original gates were much better than the shit ones McKeag put up. I remember the original gates well as I was almost crushed against them when we had to queue up for tickets overnight in the 70's for cup tickets.
  8. As for Perch, I'd prefer to see Anita, Marveaux or a fit Vuckic starting or coming on before such a limited player. Perch fits well with our manager though and in a way is a reflection of him, conservative and boring.
  9. Source From the article: for Pardew if that's true. I hope both Williamson and Perch go.
  10. It possibly is bull crap but nobody can rule it out, we've known about players coming in long before th press got hold of it.
  11. I think you are giving the club far too much credit.
  12. It makes him anything negative you can think of.
  13. It's not as simple as looking at the final table and thinking that we were safe. If we hadn't got the 4 points from our 2nd and 3rd last games then Wigan would have had more of an incentive to get maximum points against Villa instead of drawing what was a meaningless game. Coloccini is a massive part for why we are still in the top division, probably the biggest reason because after the Liverpool game we were only going in one direction.
  14. I'm not sure what other clubs do regarding selling players to Monaco has to do with us.
  15. I couldn't give a shit about how much we get for our players and we shouldn’t be in a position of having to sell them unless we want to for reasons other than financial. We're a club that uses stability as the be all and end all while being happy to take money for players and ruining the possibility that we have of players playing together and growing as a team. Losing players is actually a benefit to our shit manager because his excuse is in place. I now fully expect to be told part way through the season that we’re struggling because players are still settling in.
  16. Some use the transfer fee as justification and it's baffling me, I want to watch good players, not cash in the bank.
  17. Agreed, I really look forward to seeing our bank balance next season, I'm excited already.

    A sad day

On sunday it will be 4 weeks since we last kicked a ball and I haven't missed it and I've never felt like that before. I'm usually looking forward to the new season the day the last one ends but not this year.
  19. The club said in January that they'd brought the summer spending forward, I'm not surprised with what they are doing.

  21. No that proof is in the accounts.
  22. A bit dated but: "In relation to recent media speculation following the statement made by the Club on May 9, Newcastle United would like to make it clear that owner Mike Ashley is not looking for his interest free loan to be repaid, or to take any money out of the Club."
