Most of his games have been as first choice left back and now he's being played as first choice right winger. He was played and brought off against Wolves yet he was still played in the same position next game with the same outcome, almost. This time he has a shocker and he's moved to left back and a player who has had a better game is taken off, it's crazy. Very few complain that he isn't good enough as cover, far too often he's not being used as cover.

Our football has been poor at times since the beginning of the season and that's why people have been asking throughout the season when our football was going to change, as I think Pardew had hinted to. Go back over the season so far and every so often you'll see the question asked, even when we were winning. Against the mackems we were shit first half and that was after he had a week of working with the players who were not very good against Wolves. Things were only improved when he did what most fans have been suggesting for months. He did it and with a bit of luck he'll have learned a lesson. If that's the case, why couldn't he learn that lesson without having to go through another poor 45 minutes?

Why do people do everything they can to justify playing Ryan Taylor? He was found out at left back, he's been found out playing right wing and he'll get found out every time he plays. Accept that he's not a very good footballer and let's move on and only use him when we have nobody else. The reason he looked OK 2nd half against the mackems was because he was moved from midfield and we had a player who could actually play wide and spread our play over the full width of the pitch. Taking Santon off was madness unless he was injured. During the first half with Taylor playing we used 3/4 of the width of the pitch and we were ineffective because of it, he doessn't hold his position in defence and he doesn't hold his position in midfield. Do we go back to playing him on the left side of defence until he's pulled a part again only to shoe horn him back to the right side. I’ve got no problem with him playing in an emergency but that should be it, he should never be first choice.

I'd like to see him start on the right with freedom to roam and Jonas being more strict on the other side to provide balance. Hopefully Pardew agrees Simpson is poor enough with cover infront of him, if Benny starts right he has to play right.. a free role wound have to be behind a front two with a three man midfield behind him. When has Simpson had cover in front of him?

I wouldn't be surprised if he starts against Arsenal but comes off before the end then goes back to the bench, I hope I'm wrong.

He played right wing and he changed the game with some really good play, Sessegnon was sent off for hitting Tiote in the face.

We showed in the 2nd half today that we can play football and 2 of the players you have mentioned were on the pitch at that time and the other should have been as he was one of our better players in the first shitty half.

You're definitely quoting me regarding him being an average manager and I base that on his managerial career as well as his time here. His managerial career is based around getting West Ham promoted, losing an FA Cup final and winning the Johnson Paint Trophy during a season which was supposed to bring Southampton promotion. Something Southampton did after sacking Pardew and something they might do again this season. My problem with his here is that I think he talks shit and the football we play is generally poor and will result in good results turning to poor results, like our last 2 games have. I could name more but I really can't be bothered. We’ve got the basis of a very good team and I think that we are a better team than our standard of football and recent results. At times we have international players reacting to the ball as if it was a bomb ready to go off and I don’t think for one minute that the players play this way out of either choice or necessity, I think they do it under instruction. I’ll never get my head around how somebody who has been in football so long can fail to understand how much better Ben Arfa is than Ryan “Key midfielder” Taylor. If Ryan Taylor is key to us then we’re in the shit. I think it’s crazy that Pardew slags Ben Arfa off so much about his work rate to the press that some fans are using it is against the player.

I don't think anybody does disregard our league position, I just think some people see past it while still recognising it as being the most important measurement of where we are.
