  1. Yes, but the brackets means that it's from the year before.
  2. Yes, day to day bills like the tax man, short term loans, players wages, transfer instalments, that sort of thing.
  3. We have problems with cash, Ashley is lending the club money to pay day to day bills, not just the loans. If Ashley wasn't here and giving us loans then who would have loaned us money for this purpose?
  4. He's opened his new Cancer Research Unit today, I'm over the moon that he's been able to see what he's done for Cancer sufferers. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5i9XgY21r95Oj_RiEiBXCacaVjSDQ Sir Bobby Robson has made an inspiring, heartfelt and often funny speech at the launch of a £500,000 research centre in his name. England coach Fabio Capello joined him at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle, to hand over £75,000 from the FA, which is on top of £1.2m already raised for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. The 76-year-old was diagnosed with the disease for a fifth, and probably final, time a year ago and he has dedicated much of that time to fighting the disease. He was asked to try to raise £500,000 to equip a specialist trials centre and that target was reached in just seven weeks. Sir Bobby was not expected to speak at the launch, but made a 15 minute speech about his battle, the inspiration he has been given from meeting fellow patients and his pride in seeing one of the leading cancer centres in Europe open on Friday. He even managed to joke about his ongoing fight since he was diagnosed last March, saying: "I have had longer than a football League manager." Sir Bobby thanked Capello for coming to the north-east adding: "By the way, if you want to see Newcastle, I can get you a ticket." He said that the England boss's presence made this "a perfect day". In return, Capello said he remembered the times when, at different clubs across Europe, they had been on opposing sides. "But now we are here together to fight against cancer," the Italian said.
  5. £44 million and that has nothing to do with Ashley paying our bills as they become due, that is totally different.
  6. Douglas said he agreed with the decision, that has never been in doubt. I had no part in sacking Souness but I agreed with it.
  7. I'm not sure how we would have been in the same position as we would have had to find cash to pay our debts as Ashley wouldn't have been around to give us a loan. Even though we've virtually broke even on transfers or made a slight profit, Ashley has paid the bills.
  8. See my sig' for the only comment on a major decision that I could find.
  9. I don't know if will succeed but I do know that we finished higher in his first season than we did the season before he bought the club. I have no idea where we'll finish this season but I'm not writing off our chances of finishing above 13th again.
  10. Have you any proof that the Hall's were having a say in the running of the club in the last few years?
  11. If Ashley does take us down then he'll have failed, he'll have failed to turn the club around and change the direction in which we were heading althought he'll have done it cheaper.
  12. He's clearly trying to keep his name in the headlines and has only mentioned this because things have quietened down a bit and other names have been mentioned.
  13. I didn't expect to say this but happy 76th Sir Bob.
  14. I would think he'll be advised to avoid stress so that would have to put a massive question mark on his career but the operation doesn't have to prevent him from managing again. I would think that his future career as far as his health goes depends on what happened on the day he went into hospital. If he's had another heart attack then he should be finished. If it was simply chest pains brought on by Angina then he'll be better in two months time than he was two months ago as he should no longer suffer from Angina as the blockages have been removed. This operation seemed to take 10 to 15 years off my dad’s age as he couldn’t climb a set of stairs. After the operation he could walk for hours and still does at least 10 years later. Kinnear will probably go home this weekend and that will be a tough time for him as he'll be away from the comfort of the medical staff on hand and the reassurance that they will bring, simply by being close at hand. Every pain in his chest will have him thinking he's in trouble and he will have pain as he carries on healing. He could take the decision himself next week when he gets home and has time to talk to his family, I'd rather it was down to him and I hope he throws the towel in.
  15. If they are decent human beings then they'll wait for Kinnear, if they are any good in business then they'll ditch him.
  16. He'll probably go home between Friday and Monday.
  17. That would be the only time I could actually feel that it was worth paying to watch Smith.
  18. I take it that you class the Inter-Toto as playing in Europe, are you now going to claim that we've won a trophy on that same basis?

    NUSC - Good or Bad?

I think if they change tact then I'll just see them as wolves in sheeps clothing.
  20. You're right about him being a legend, he's had an amazing career, born in the 60's and still playing professional football.
  21. I've just had a look at his career stat's and he's played over 1000 games for club and country and if he stays fit he should top 900 for his club before the end of the season.
