Here is the latest from the Sunday Sin ,seems like the Nigerians are gobbing off again . Hou’s next Newcastle boss? Oct 19 2008 by Neil Farrington, Sunday Sun GERARD HOULLIER and Sven-Goran Eriksson are set to be sounded out about the chance to manage Newcastle United under new ownership. A Nigerian consortium are pondering whether to confirm the seriousness of their interest in the Magpies by passing their passports and bank documents over to the Premier League for inspection this week. And the Sunday Sun understands that, having proved they are genuine bidders for Newcastle, the Lagos-based businessmen would then continue sounding out potential new United managers . . . With Houllier and possibly Eriksson featuring on their list. The Nigerians have been angered by the sceptical reaction to news of their interest in buying the Magpies, despite having first approached Mike Ashley about a deal more than two months ago. But the consortium — who remain anonymous amid fears of a backlash from fellow Nigerians angry at the prospect of them investing in English football — are still considering making Ashley an offer of around £300 million. And, having already spoken to Kevin Keegan, Paul Ince and Frank Rijkaard as they consider potential managerial targets, they see former Liverpool boss Houllier as a possible short-term appointment, with Mexico coach Eriksson also on their radar.

Just got this off Newcastle blog dont know how reliable it is but its inciteful on prospective buyers if its the actual ones or speculating ,who knows but hopefully we can find out a bit more in the next few days . Announcement Of Newcastle Buyer Getting Closer October 18th, 2008 by Ed Harrison · 17 Comments There are still seven parties officially interested in buying Newcastle United, but only three have shown evidence that they are in a financial position to significantly improve the famous Tyneside club. Those are large consortiums that according to Keith Harris, Chairman of Seymour Pierce investment Bank, who are handling the sale for Newcastle and Mike Ashley, are based in the United States, the Middle East, and the Far East. The three are said to be ready to bid around £300M for the club that Ashley has paid £245M for over the last 15 months. That would give Ashley a £55M profit or just over 22% on the deal. A good deal by any standards. South African Jonathan Cleland is said to remain hopeful of doing a deal for Newcastle United with a group of South African businessmen but earlier this week Harris said there had been no serious bids from either Nigeria or South Africa. We have no idea who the American interest is, but a couple of years ago a Polygon backed St James’ Park Group were said to be interested in buying the club. With the terrible state of the banking system in the US, we’d be surprised if a US based consortium had the money right now to buy the club. The Middle East buyers could one from quite a few parties who have expressed an interest, but a prominent one is Kuwait tycoon Nasser Kharafi, the 48th richest man in the world. Nasser Al Kharafi and his company controls the exclusive Arab franchises for KFC, Wimpy, TGI Fridays, Cadbury’s, Pizza Hut and Saint Cinnamon. As far as the Far East interest goes, we have been linked with Chinese property billionaire Xu Rongmao, who is reported to have plans to expand St James’ Park and redevelop the surrounding area. There are 10 billionaires in China, and he is one of them. Xu is the chairman of the Shimao Group, which controls land in America, and builds luxury real estate projects. We were led to believe yesterday by Joe Kinnear, who got his information from Managing Director Kevin Llambias that Friday was the date when all bids were expected to be placed for Newcastle, and that it was an important day in the sale of the club. We hope what Joe says is true because it would mean the sale is moving ahead quite well. We assume the next step is that we’ll hear from Keith Harris, as to who the winning consortium is. If we can get that information within the next week say, it will remove lots of uncertainty surrounding the club, and then we’ll need to hear from the new owners as to who they want as their new permanent manager, and what their long term (and short term) strategy for the club is. If that can be done withing the next week the sale should be completed, following five or six weeks of due diligence, by the early December timeframe, and we’ll be ready to invest in the transfer market in January, which promises to be an exciting time for Newcastle fans everywhere. And hopefully the club will be on an upward spiral once again - and that would be very good.

Is that the boys in shorts or bloke in the long coat

Yes thats a stupid thing for the French to do just asking for trouble there imho ,the way the team is playing and this is making them a laughing stock up there with us .

While Harris admitted he had spoken to parties from South Africa and Nigeria, he confirmed that none had met the essential criteria to be considered serious bidders to buy the club from Ashley. looks to me like Clenand is singing from a different songsheet to Harris unless the South African connection is Clenand and he isnt using it as part of a consortium bid .

Sounds like Keith Harris has been letting his mouth go again so i will highlight what i see as the interesting bits as possible clues and admissions . Newcastle Utd RSS Feed Foreign buyers facing United battle 8:28am Thursday 16th October 2008 comment Comments (0) Have your say » Photograph of the Author By Andy Richardson » NEWCASTLE United will shortly be under foreign ownership, according to the man appointed by Mike Ashley to sell the club. But contrary to reports, Kevin Keegan’s reinstatement at St James’ Park has not been made a pre-condition of any potential bid. Seymour Pierce chairman Keith Harris, who is brokering the sale, is hopeful of securing a buyer by the end of November and all seven of the short-listed bidders are from overseas. “I think it’s certainly likely the next owner of Newcastle United will come from beyond these shores. Whether it is from the Middle East is another matter, but I think it is a reasonable assumption to say the new owner will not be a Brit,” confirmed Harris who acted as adviser in the sales of Aston Villa to Randy Lerner in 2006 and Manchester City to Thaksin Shinawatra in 2007. [glow=red,2,300]But reports that the return of Keegan as Newcastle manager was a pre-condition of some bids have been firmly denied by Harris, who said: “Nobody has said to us it is a condition for us to go forward and frankly Joe Kinnear has done a pretty good job in a short period of time.[/glow] “Whoever the new owner will be, it will be their choice of the management team to run the business off the field and run the business on the field. “There is a wealth of management talent available but no one has said it is a pre-condition that it is this manager, that manager or any other manager.” Asked about the possibility of Keegan making a return to the Newcastle hotseat, Harris said: “We haven’t even had discussions with the parties who have expressed an interest in buying the business as to who the new manager will be, so I can’t predict that. “For seven or eight days we have had seven seriously interested parties and we have taken the chance to start honing down the list. “So far nobody has dropped out and we have been asking people to begin to sharpen their pencils. “They are not from these shores. There is a strong international element to them and that is not surprising as clearly wealth has been generated away from these shores more than it has been here. “The Premiership is a major entertainment and TV content provider throughout the world, increasingly in the United States, and is very well established in South-East Asia, China, India and certainly in the Middle East. [glow=red,2,300]“I don’t think you would be surprised if the nationality of the new owner were to come from any of those parts of the world.”[/glow] [glow=red,2,300]While Harris admitted he had spoken to parties from South Africa and Nigeria, he confirmed that none had met the essential criteria to be considered serious bidders to buy the club from Ashley.[/glow] “I think we have to distinguish between interest and serious interest,” he said.

That is media spin and selective quoting of the Keith Harris interview. It doesn't say Keegan will be back and it doesn't say he won't be. Why should whoever is trying to buy the club mention who they want as manager? Newcastle and Keegan are totally separate. It's not as if Ashley could guarantee Keegan would return. I'd be worried about a buyer who only wanted NUFC if they could get Keegan back. Spot on. Well lets bookmark this and see what happens ,probably be a load of horse shit until this quote is verified .Imho i think we should start from scratch and not get lost in sentimentality .

Just picked this up off tribal football but i dont know if this is made up or not . Keegan return unlikely at Newcastle * Premiership News PRINT | EMAIL | COMMENTS (0) Keegan return unlikely at Newcastle 16.10.08 | tribalfootball.com There is unlikely to be any triumphant return to Newcastle United for Kevin Keegan. Keith Harris, the man employed by owner Mike Ashley to flog the Toon, reckons none of the interested parties want King Kev in charge. Harris said: “Nobody has said to us that having Kevin as manager is a condition for them to go forward. “Whoever the new owner would be, it would be their choice and there’s a wealth of management experience out there. But no one’s said it’s a pre-condition.”

Crumpy Gunt seems to have a similar approach but I'm not really too sure if it's too far from what they're really thinking in any case. Personally I don't like either attitude towards Keegan, whether it's belittling his past service to this club (which is massive and unrivalled) or believing he is infallible or incapable of putting himself first before the club. It's perfectly possible, of course, to give due credit to what he did for the club in the past, whilst acknowledging his faults at the same time. He was the right man for the job in 1992, and the wrong man in 2008. Funny because he very much felt like the right man for the job as we were thrashing Spurs away 4-1 or drawing 1-1 at Old Trafford. People seem unable to or willing to concede that while walking out hasn't helped matters which I agree with by the way, the people really at fault are those that caused him to take such action and are therefore the wrong people for this club. Do you know exactly what happened behind the scenes at NUFC this summer? Its simple, you appoint a manager and you back that man 100%. They didn't so are at fault. I don't really care about the details. All I know is a very good manager who had the team going in the right direction and enjoyed the rare unanimous backing of fans (a crucial ingredient here at Newcastle) didn't get the support his position as manager demanded for reasons yes we can only really speculate on but still, have proved very costly for this club. KK would walk 10 times out of 10 if not backed 100% or if undermined which has obviously happened for him to quit a job no-one can deny he obviously loved doing. Any manager worth their salt would walk. Fergie would be out the door tomorrow if Man Utd sold Ronaldo behind his back or signed a player without consulting him. Wenger too. Most would. Regardless of KK walking, the people who run our club haven't done anything that suggests they are the right people for the club, before and since. Prior to KK being apointed, the Ashley enjoyed what I'd call good will from fans which meant he didn't really have to do anything of note to have our support and that's exactly what he did - nothing of note. When he brought KK back it was something of note. It showed ambition and a sense of wanting what we want but he didn't back it up resulting in his moment of glory if you like proving to be nothing but an empty gesture. If Ashley were the right man for this club he'd have resolved this a long time ago now and KK would still be our manager. All KK asked for was to be backed which I think he had a damn right to not only expect but demand as the manager, a good manager, proving himself out on the pitch where it matters. For whatever reason which I have said I don't really care about (the details), Ashley did not support the man he appointed 100% and I find that incomprehensible especially factoring the total none entities that survived. As far as I'm concerned if he rates Wise more important to his club than KK then why the f*** didn't he make Wise manager before he went for KK. The answer, he doesn't have a clue. Stick to selling cheap clobber Mike. Btw not backing your manager, the man you appoint, its like us not getting behind the team despite claiming to be fans of the club. Not on. Very well said and i agree entirely .

It's certainly not all NE5's fault, but it does seem rather strange that he only ever seems to turn up in these kind of bullshit 'arguments'. If he's nothing new or worthwhile to say, he should say nothing at all. Oh I know, certainly not all his fault, one or two others are just as bad really. He's the one with the 'catchphrases' though. to be honest my argument with NE5 has just hit the point where we are just saying the same things over and over again to each other. at least me and the ignorant git haven't reached the petty insult stage yet. Think you jusyt have

Just got this off Ronngill online Cannot really blame him for getting out imho if he might be out on his arse or should he honour his contract and do his job ?.The old pals act loses one and more to follow who knows . over future Oct 10 2008 by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle Tony Jimenez NEWCASTLE United’s departed vice-president Tony Jimenez is understood to have quit his role on Tyneside because he did not see the point in continuing to scour the globe for talent while the club’s future was in limbo. The Londoner was at the centre of the storm last month which resulted in Kevin Keegan walking away from his position as manager due to the lack of control over transfers. And after United fans had made their feelings crystal clear about the situation by unfurling “Cockney Mafia Out” banners at St James’s Park, owner Mike Ashley quickly put the club up for sale on September 14. Yet as part of the aftermath at St James’s Park, Jimenez subsequently decided there was no longer any point in wasting time flying around the world to scout players that may never even pull on a black-and-white shirt. A source close to Jimenez told the Chronicle: “Tony just felt there was no point in continuing his position. “He knows that the club could be sold and, even if it is not, there is the possibility that the club won’t spend money in January with the future so uncertain. “He is expected to take up another role soon because he wants to continue working in the game.” There’s no doubt that Jimenez’s departure has received a mixed reaction, but he leaves with a legacy of Jonas Gutierrez, Fabricio Coloccini, Sebastien Bassong, Nacho Gonzalez and Xisco. It is understood that the chances of United spending similar amounts like they did for players such as £10m defender Coloccini and £5.7m Spanish striker Xisco are slim, and therefore Jimenez believed he had no future at the club. The whole situation has left Mike Ashley facing a decision. He either has to stick with it at St James’s Park and rethink the structure, or accept less than the £250-300m figure the Toon tycoon is believed to looking for to sell United, with the October 17 deadline for potential buyers quickly coming up. However, executive director Dennis Wise’s position at the club remains unaffected by his close pal’s departure at United.

Seymour pearce seem to be doing a good job of keeping the bidders (if there are any) secret and so it should be but like everyone it would be great to know who these people are and how much financial clout they have so we can have more fun like the South African and Nigerian bollocks which was all self promotion and big talk-no action imho .There may well be a wealthy Arab, or Russian Oil baron to turn us round as the global crunch would i guess not effect there wealth and the fact we have little debt will be a plus to us compared to Everton and there Ground move etc.
-
Exactly ,new regime and we start over and would he stay if his sidekicks went we will probably never know but its a pity we always have to start from scratch every time there are changes up above and thats us atm and stability is what we need in the years to come .
-
We dont know the true price that Cashley is asking for the club its pure media speculation so dont believe everything you read and here tbh.
-
Looks like Clelland and Clifford who are doing the ground work on this and the press are speculating that Imerman and Joffe are on board but they deny this so we can assume that there must be other investors or a massive wind up .This thing about coming to the city and visiting Shearers bar etc seems a strange thing to do unless the had a meeting at the club and as the press were told by Clelland "to get a feel of the city and chat to Geordies " they were probably put off by the mongs hanging round outside who cannot string 2 syllables together. Seymour Butts who are dealing with the bids will not let any info out so its press speculation all the way on this apart from alleged consortiums putting there names forward .

Source or Link? ZENIT, Advocaat could leave at the end of the year 22.08.2008 00.10 by Eddy Akoglu read 987 Latest rumours from Russia are suggesting that Ducth coach Dick Advocaat could leave Zenit St.Petersburg at the end of 2008. Advocaat is apparently sought after by Liverpool and Middlesbrough. Moreover, the harsh St.Petersburg cold weather seems to be too much to bear for Advocaat and his wife. Most importantly, the working relationship between the Dutchman and Zenit has recently worsened due to the fact that no top quality players were signed by the club officials despite Advocaat's request to do so. It really seems that Advocaat (affectionately nicknamed "Little General") will leave Russia soon http://www.transfermarketweb.com/?action=read&idsel=23267 Dutch media reporting he wants to leave in November. Yes please would have him

Listened to the call myself and the legends took the piss and imho rightly so as most of the info he gave was practically common knowledge and we learnt nothing new from the ITK.
