posting this in here as it is football related This could have been anyone but its another footballer in the news for all the wrong reasons ,sympathy to his family. Footballer arrested after Christmas Day crash that killed father-of-five A footballer has been arrested following a car crash on Christmas Day that killed a father-of-five. By Jon Swaine Last Updated: 2:53PM GMT 30 Dec 2008 Footballer arrested after Christmas Day crash that killed father-of-five Jordan Robertson during a Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League match at Tannadice Park Photo: PA Jordan Robertson, a Sheffield United striker, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after his black Mercedes collided with a red Ford Galaxy on the M1 at about 2.50pm on December 25. He was bailed until the New Year. The driver of the Ford, Omar Mohamed, 38, from Leicester, suffered a broken neck. He was airlifted to Walsgrave Hospital, Coventry, where he later died. He had been travelling to pick up his children from London, where they had been staying for the school holidays. There is no suggestion that Robertson, 20, had been under the influence of alcohol. It has been reported that he was trying to change songs on his iPod at the time of the crash. Mr Mohamed, a taxi driver, was a former captain and coach of the Somalia basketball team and took part in the opening parade of the Beijing Olympics earlier this year. He fled to the Netherlands from the war-torn African state 14 years ago and moved to Britain in 2004. Mr Mohamed's wife Trea, also 38, was at his bedside when he died. Robertson told The Daily Mail: "My condolences go out to the family. I don't wish to make any further comment."

So lets sell a player who has shown great loyalty over the years who has had a shit defense in front of him for long time or put Harper in who is not bothered about first team football and is imho good cover not outstanding .He has had his chances over the years but Given always gets back in and rightly so ,would not sell Given at any price in a world of mercenaries and players who do not care i think he is a great example to any youngster .You build a team from the back and for the money you get for Given i would say its not worth it .
-
love to see it happen but tbh he will end up at a team where money is available so he can compete with the top dogs and imho i dont think Ashley has the same ambition as the fans.
-
When Taylor comes to the end of his career he will have a great DVD of clips that would not look out of place on youve been framed tbh and yesterday shows you that he still has plenty to offer
-
Shit from the start tbh and if he is so good how come he can only play with bassong beside him,a good player should stand out amongst shit and until he gets used to the premiership and comfortable with it i will not judge him but was awful today but he was not helped by a woeful Taylor.
-
Good job they had nowt to play for then
-
Here here but it should not get away from the fact that the likes of a few teams at the bottom would have not been as humiliated as we have today.
-
Fookin liability get rid or use as cover oops he has done that was crap as that too.
-
Come on toon lets finish the year with some pride intact.
-
Great result great touch fatty and great finish ,thanks for a great xmas lads .

52,000 would set them up for years to come, 4000 plus potential TV money wouldn't go as far. It would be a disgrace if Blyth drew 52,000 for a 3rd round game against Blackburn, cause Newcastle certainly wouldnt. This is a game that will capture the imagination of the public ,play at st james or at Croft park .Imho they have more chance at Croft as this will be a massive culture shock to Blackburn and Blyth will have a much better chance on home soil, and i will give you a bit of information about a game many years ago and i quote " The replay at St James' Park drew an astonishing crowd of 42,000 with an estimated 10,000 more locked out. Blyth lost 2-1 but their players had assured themselves of a place in history and journeys of horror for those who follow in their steps.

How comical was that or Carragher v Hull when he gifted them that goal ,if that had been a toon defender the back pages would have been full of it.
-
Hope you eat your words ,as he proved today he is still a class act and his comments are very honest in the post match interview so its not his fault but media spin and our current position that leaves this situation.
-
You is him innit
-
Seems to me that Bassong is a lot more composed than Taylor and not prone to lapses in concentration but its early days yet but i am happy with the back 4 atm but Enrique has to raise his game .
-
Yes we are bottom 4 though and thats the problem so i guess the january transfer window will be interesting.
-
No it seems motd is gone next season as it has gone to ITV again unless i am mistaken.

i was just going to post something similar. i think there is more positives than negatives for shearer (and potentially the club) with this. The problem with this is the press will forever be putting pressure on Kinnear if results go against him and Shearer will be this giant shadow hanging over him ,tbh you can just read the headlines and imho Shearer is doing the right thing staying clear cos everyone will say "look at Shearer ready to jump in as soon as things go wrong with Kinnears running of the playing side".
