  1. This isn't so much a 'must win' game as a 'must not get hammered' game. If we win our other home games - which is do'able, can see goal difference being crucial. Win (or a draw) would be nice though.
  2. We were on a downward spiral then and are continuing that now. How far further we fall before we reach our bottom will be answered by the end of May.
  3. Don't think Jack Charlton's doing owt till summer either.
  4. Bollocks. 9 goals under Keegan last season, in something like 17 games. He's a very clever player, but useless if he doesn't get to take part in the game. True, while his pace may have gone, his instinct in the box hasn't, shame we've not got anyone (fit) in the midfield who can provide half decent passes/crosses. Or a decent manager, like Keegan, to get the best out of him. :-[ You can't polish a turd, KK only went 4-3-3 for about 4 games because that was the whole amount of games he had the players, well Viduka, available. The problem isn't Owen, well at least when he's fit and available that is. It's how you make the best chances for him or any striker thats the problem and our midfield is arguably the least productive and imaginative in the division.

  6. If we'd had any semblance of a half-decent youth set-up in the past all these recent incomings wouldn't raise an eyebrow. They are purely trying to ensure that we have a chance of bringing in a few first teamers in the future. You can come up with any spin you want on his motives, but every club as an absolute minimum should have a good youth set-up, and I think that something along those lines was said at the beginning of their tenure.
  7. More like the top 3 toon players easiest to get an interview from.
  8. You think we'd be in this state if he'd have stayed? No, but then i'd say that if he'd not brought him back in the first place we'd not be where we are now. Still his own decision/fault either way though. True, but I reckon any manager of decent standing within the game would of ultimately been forced to go about it similar to Keegan and therefore we were always going to be in this state. Possibly, but again we're back to who did/said/promised/demanded etc what - all been done to death but resurrected many times. Until both sides have their say, we'll never know the true story. However and regardless of who started it, it all comes down to the fact that Ashley wanted KK and made the appointment, if he thought KK was his man he should have had the guts to follow it through. I don't go with the concensus that Ashley is out to intentionally f*** us over, I think he has a genuine want for us to do well, but he's surrounded himself with key personnel who don't really know what they're doing. Yeah? So why did Sportsdirect only pay NUFC something like £40k for what amounts to a blue chip sponsorship package at SJP? On the face of it, it looks like great business for Ashleys first love, but shocking business for NUFC. so why is he putting his cash in ? As its his club, he didn't have to put anything in to give one of his companies advertising space. *sorry, thats for Fading Star - picked the wrong 'quote'* so what? If its of no consequence then why did you bring it up in the first place? One could argue he should stop whinging about having to put millions in the club to keep it afloat whilst buying advertising space worth millions for free at the same time. It's not so much pertinent now, but it will become moreso when NR will be replaced by SD as our primary sponsor. True, just thought it was a weak arguement to use that as an indicator that he's intentionally screwing us over. i'll doubt that advertising space is worth millions In fact, he's missing a trick by not selling the rest of the roof for advertising. And diminish the prominence of his favourite business. Why would he do that? he could sell the space to a company that competes in a different market so thered be no competition. f***ing good job he doesn't take a wage eh ? OK, but why would he want to do that? eh, for income obviously.

Probably doesn't give SBR an OAP discount either!!

Anyway, if he's supposed to be using us as a cash cow, shouldn't he be trying to maximize the income, instead of stiffing us (if he did) for some advertising space?

  18. Funnily enough i'd say it was in the middle we're piss poor, front and back are competent/ok (when all fit!!)

  20. What have Boro done to make you think they'll stay up? i think he means that west brom and boro below us and then between us hull and makems for the drop which i agree cnt see the others struggling as much as us three Ah. Hull, Boro and West Brom for more to go down, I think we'll just stay up (perhaps even on goal difference). Soz Frazzie, as they said above, I was taking W.Brom and Boro as nailed on down.
  21. Us, Sunderland and Hull. Hull are lucky or unlucky in picking up most of their points early on, they are in free-fall now. Sunderland have a run-in comparable with us and are playing shite, while we did lose, we at least showed that we 'could' play a bit. However, If we don't win our home games against Fulham/Pompey/Boro then its us - unless one of the others doesn't win a game again this season. The fat lass isn't on stage yet lads, but she's no doubt checked on the train times North.
  22. We've won 4 home games all season. What makes you think we can suddenly win 3 in a row? Even if we did, it now looks like we need to still get points elsewhere, which frankly we don't have the balls for. No-one said life was easy. While we did get beat off Man Utd and Arsenal at home, I saw enough to 'suggest' that we're capable of beating those 3 mentioned - infact if we weren't, then we don't deserve to be in the prem anyway.
