Is the Zog gonna be fit (if still at the club of course) for this? edit - answered above. edit the edit - refuted below.

Put me down for 'Keegan' and 'Stella' if this turns into a poll later.

Xisco joins Deportivo on loan until the end of the season

I sincerely hope that's even more rubbish from Kinnear. what a f***ing tool. Why's that (presume you mean JFK) ? Some transfers work, some don't. Thats football. If he wants to get rid of a player 'he' doesn't rate, and I presume this has been ok'd by his boss, to bring someone else in that 'he' does rate then go for it I say. Anyway, if as reported we've just spunked £6m on the rangers player then we've not sold before we've bought. Why doesn't he just get on with his transfer business quietly rather than tell the whole world about it? Xisco is still a Newcastle employee, does everyone really need to know that we are desperate to unload him? Ah, right then - I agree with that on both points, although I suppose you've got to tell a potential buyer 'somehow' that a player is available. Thought you'd maybe bought into the 'whole' article thats all. -

i'll call someone out when i think they're talking bollox, yeah; in this instance i don't consider what he did taking a stand, yeah he stuck with his principles sure, but manifested those principles were to walk away and not "take a stand"...his principles are now to seek millions of pounds from the club, i.e. people like yourself who worship him we have different definitions of principles it seems but don't try to tell me i haven't got any you patently can't read well enough to see a distinction in what i and others write about KK...you're quite correct to say what you say about his achievements and he is the best manager we've had in my lifetime too no arguments there i don't see that conceding that means i should accept what he did in the summer, for some reason you appear to think he can do no wrong - again consider what i said earlier about the effect he could have had if he'd stayed and put public pressure on ashley as manager...wouldn't we likely be much better off now? I have a simple question for all those who ridicule Kevin keegan. Just answer this question, if you can, without qualifying your answer or debating when, or where. Just yes or no. Do you prefer what we have with Ashley, to what we had in the 5 years we had Keegan as manager? Its ace this

Looks like we have finally found our level. The people who forced Keegan out accused him of being a "dreamer" because he wanted big names to galvanise the club like he did when he arrived as a player. I still can't believe some people are prepared to give Ashley the benefit of the doubt to the end of the transfer window. do you have anything to suggest this isn't just JFK's target and f*** all to do with ashley? hardly fits in with the "policy" and "transfer team" thing does it? signing someone of his age, price and wage bracket granted ashley has to take the fall for appointing such a t*** in the first place but if this is who kinnear wants then it's who he wants Who knows? It often seems like we are running two parallel systems. The "management structure" supposedly scouting for younger players who are then bought with no recourse to the manager and the manager's own targets bought from another transfer fund. It's as if Kinnear has been told we've got £5m and we are bringing in Carlos Kickaball and Julio Geordio, you have £5m have a look around and see who you fancy, here is Willie McKay's list of clients. Either way the system seems fragmented with no clear leadership or direction and no communication between the actual parties themselves (Kinnear, Ashley, Ashley's cronies, Wise etc) pretty much agree with that, have said all along though if it was a case of 5m, 6m or however much being given to JFK or Wise et al i'd go with the latter everyday as i haven't the slightest ounce of faith in JFK to choose a decent player fair enough for 4-5m you're gonna struggle to find a gtreat CM but i'd be inclinded to look lower league or abroad than for the likes of barry f***ing ferguson Spot on. No doubt Wise will quietly pull the plug on this sort of deal then bring in his own players. If this is Kinnears idea of a good signing then it's probably just as well. I don't see what Ferguson offers us that Geremi doesn't. If they didn't trust KK's judgement after 3 years or so out of the game I can't see them trusting JFK who was out longer. Hopefully at worst we asked if we could 'loan' him.
-
Spot-on - I agree. I still think he will prove himself far from past it when he joins another club with better midfielders. tbh he doesn't have anything to prove to us either (or shouldn't) its not like he's got Alan Smith's scoring stats for us.
-
Its the midfield thats the problem not Owen. A non-productive midfield like ours gives them virtually nothing to feed on. Same as they give virtually no cover for the defense either. Its not surprising he looked better and happier in a 4-3-3 as he could come back to get/find the ball himself while knowing there was still forwards ahead of him.
-
Chill, he'll come on at some stage.
-
Better than I thought we'd put out.

Tend to agree with this these days. I stuck up for Ashley for ages on the back of this 'offer' but at the end of the day bids mean nothing. I find it impossible to believe that the plan B after missing out on Modric was buying Guthrie. I'd say that Guthrie was always on their 'A' list, think they had him scouted/earmarked during his Bolton loan move period. As for the 'B' list, it was Gonzalez.

4 - 2 - 1 - 3 for me.

Was it Benson and Hedges or Lambert and Butler he called up?

Part and parcel of following the Toon. We've had ups and downs, and always will.

You have achieved absolutely nothing so far Joe and if you're proud of your poor-to-average record as manager of Newcastle United thus far it is no wonder Shay Given, a player with exceptionally high standards, appears to be wanting out if this is how you define success. Of the 14 matches so far only two performances were acceptable, away to both Chelsea and Portsmouth. The rest have been a mixed bag of crap and unease to witness and I include the wins over Aston Villa, Tottenham and most notably West Bromwich Albion at home in that. Wins wise you have only managed a mere 4 victories in your time here despite playing a number of teams of lesser or equal ability and in a good number of those games failed to clinch success from winning positions. This is nothing to be proud of Joe. In fact you ought to be fairly embarrassed and angry with the majority of performances your side has put in under you and the megre points total that has since followed your arrival, like the anger and embarrassment you so often demonstrably display towards the media and match day officials. Perhaps if you did, we would perform much better and collect more points. But then I suppose after years of managing dross and fighting relegation battles I suppose this is living the high life to you. Not to me it ain't, it's f***ing awful to watch, painful to see and simply not good enough. Must do better - make it a new years resolution along with no more spouting absolute nonsense to the media. You do realise he's talking about the team ('we') as a whole and not about himself ('I')? Even if he was talking about 'his' achievements I think he's done an excellent job under the circumstances, certainly exceeded my expectations anyway.
-
Bassong doesn't look nor has performed like a £10m defender - he is performing like a young player with no fear, playing on confidence due to playing regularly with an added bit of spotlight on him not because he's been simply outstanding but because the rest or most of those alongside him are either performing crap or not so well as they can do making him seem all the more better. He's playing reasonably well and showing promise, nothing more. Good shout. Trouble is we've been devoid of competent defenders for soo long that when you get one (or two as i'd put both of them in that category) folk can get carried away.

The last one is the only dodgy one exactly. pathetic nit picking. It is neither nitpicking nor patheitic, it is merely reporting inconsistences in what JK says, which means it is actually fact. Point 1 - incorrect Keegan / Houghton / Kinnear - how manys that? Point 2 - Chuffed to bits that this is the aim of our season - maybe so, but that was his target - keep us up Point 3 - Ok JK you have told us this 12 x 10 to the power 6, times (BTW This is the only truthful factual thing he said) lads alive Point 4 - It is very unlikely that any premier league club will go into liquidation, West Ham will sell first - i'd normally agree, but their destiny may be taken out their own hands under current conditions Point 5 - Shay is up there with the best but is in no way shape or form THE best. Stop arselicking the players! again, lads alive - thats his job

like I said to madras, they have gone, they have been held to account, so I hope he's happy with his superior replacements. You're unrealistic mate. They ran a club that was the 5th best in the country, qualifying for europe more than any other club bar 4, and completely transformed the club. What did the other well paid people in football do that didn't do as well as that ? Do you also expect someone to score a goal every time they take a penalty because they are on 50 grand a week ? Basically, you can't criticise an appointment if you agree with it and back them in their actions, which a huge amount of people did ref Souness, in particular selling Craig Bellamy and saying he was going to turn into the new Alex Ferguson just because he kicked him out like Ferguson kicked out Norman Whiteside and Paul McGrath. Howay man NE5, we haven't been 5th best since the end of the 2003/2004 season. To keep on saying that the decline in the club only started with the sale is at best daft, at worst delusional. Everyone, and I mean everyone has given Freddie (and SJH) full credit for the two periods during their reign that we were genuine challengers.

Like quite a few people on here who read what they wanted to read. our demise of the last 18 months and current shambles isn't a figment of anyones imagination, other than those who refuse to admit it. Weve been going backwards ever since we lost to Partizan Belgrade. We were on par with Liverpool back then, they sacked their manager at the right time and appointed a good manager. We should have moved Bobby upstairs after finishing 5th, we would have been able to get a world class replacement at the time and move forward again. However, the fat c*** in charge of the club at the time waited until a stupid time to sack him, appointed a shocking replacement which made us a laughing stock. Since that day we struggle to be taken seriously as a football club. Ashley has come in and things go from terrible, to utter f***ing terrible. 6th biggest turnover, 50000 seat stadium, loyal fans, huge wage bill, however totally shocking management by Shepherd and now Ashley has destroyed any potential we ever had of making it back to challenging at the top like we were 6 or 7 years ago. Our reputation as a football club is a joke and we're a laughing stock . Even if we had money to spend, players and managers would think twice before ever coming here now. this always makes me smile. Only in people's heads. Nobody laughs at anybody but us ? Thats what I call a laugh. We have only been going backwards since we stopped trying to show the ambition to be a top club. By your criteria, Arsenal have also "gone backwards" since they were undefeated Champions ....... I don't know what gets into some people, who seem to think nobody else appoints a poor manager, and every season you should be moving up the league. Incredible. We are NOW going backwards, back to 3rd rate levels, and thats because we are behaving like a 2nd rate club, not a club trying to compete with the others of the biggest stature. TBF Arsenal fans think they have...... they should think about the phrase "careful what you wish for", like certain people on here [who won't admit it] ''The only thing certain about the future is its uncertainty''
