Local journalists notify us AFTER someone else has already broken it elsewhere. If being a journalist is reading someone else's exclusive and having it "confirmed", then I guess we are all journalists. For example, Tino Livramento was linked because of a local Southampton journo, not a local north east journo.
-
No they don't. They can claim all they want that x player is a target and that x player chose to go elsewhere. If it's Ornstein/Romano fine but local journalists very rarely get anything right. Of course it suits some of our fanbase to grasp towards whatever negatives the can, in order to find something to criticise the club about, based on fuck all.

Fair enough on Diaby but ultimately he wasn't good enough. He was regularly left out of their side and quickly moved on. We didn't overpay on Tonali. The only people who said that at the time were massively jealous from what I remember. I agree entirely on the last part though.
-
The reason the athletic don't know about our transfer targets is because they are serious journalists. Random transfer rumours and gossip is normally assigned to the gutter press, hence why Hope and Edwards are all over it.... and yet are still wrong.
-
Apart from Brennan Johnson, who we aren't signing and isn't cheap, how do we know any of these are good enough for this league? I'm not saying they are/aren't FWIW, but I'm not the one signing a multi-million pound cheque and basically staking my job on them. We were told Moussa Diaby was class, along with countless other players and it turned out the foreign football experts were massively wrong. If we are signing from abroad, let's go for someone who is of real pedigree like Tonali and Isak were, or don't bother at all.

Madueke would be an absolute beast under Eddie Howe. He has a bit of everything in his game and I could see him putting in some incredible numbers. On Elanga, he'd be a very good player under Howe. He wouldn't transform the team but we'd have 2 very good right wingers instead of 1. He's also got scope to improve. He'd not be one of my top choices, but I wouldn't cry arse if we signed him. I suspect he'd do very well.

Gonna be weird having a CEO with a Canadian accent.

Idiots on twitter who make things up.

Whilst I'd like us to sign more technical players, they must be able to do what Howe requires physically, particularly relating to our press. Switching high pressing players for merely technical players would 100% ruin an Eddie Howe side. It would be like asking Pep to have mainly physical players. That's why Tonali was the golden goose. We found someone physically and technically capable of both.

I think hes referring to the PSR deadline, where we might be able to go shopping for a half price bargain, rather than going after a priority position.
-
When talking about positions, the usual caveats apply, there's always a chance that one of our long time targets in another position becomes available, in which case we might move because we have to. Yes I'd be astonished if we don't sign a RW/CB but it may well be that we sign a quality CM first and then have to wait until we've shifted Willock/Longstaff before getting a CB, lets say. If the CM was someone in Tonalis category, it would be worth it.

Yeah and how many pens would his play directly contributed to the awarding of the pen. We absolutely kill teams on the transition with him in our side. He should be our number 1 target. Not to be a debby downer but I don't think we will get him. I'd be stunned if the usual hawks like Chelsea/Man United or even Arsenal don't get him, if for no other reason than to stop us from getting him.

38 matches, 20 goals, 7 assists. I reckon Salah would have been happy with that at the start of the season. 60m? No thanks.
-
Also Mbuemo Gordon Murphy Or Gordon Barnes Mbeumo Is a massive upgrade on Wilson Gordon Murphy Which is what we've been dealing with in a Isak absence. Mbeumo guarantees goals and assists when he's on the pitch. On paper we'd have one of the top 2/3 front 3s in the league if we sign Mbeumo, that's to go with one of the top 2/3 midfields in the league....
-
Again it seems to be coming back to this idea that we want to sell Mbuemo down the line. How about we sign him, get 6/8 years out of him, win shit loads of stuff, get consistent CL football and not worry about the fee we get for him when he's in his 30s. We aren't Brighton or Brentford. I wonder if Liverpool fans are kicking off because they won't get a big fee for Wirtz after winning their fucking 30th PL title or whatever.
-
We signed Gordon for 45m. We wouldn't sell Gordon for less than 70 now. If Gordon or Barnes put in Mbeumo numbers, they'd be worth 100m. Absolutely incredible how many people don't realise how good Mbeumo actually is. For 60m we not only have an elite RW but we'd have one helluva back up striker for when Isak needs a rest.
-
I actually agree with Pilko. I just send my thing in response to the idea of Mbuemo for 60 being too much. It's 2025. Good players cost money.
-
Id be absolutely flabbergasted if we don't have the funds to, at least, get a quality CB and RW. Beyond that, yes we might have to start shifting a couple but we are more than capable of that.
-
60m for Mbeumo is a bargain.
-
Sunderland likely want him. Playing him alongside Luke Onion.
-
On the free list, I can see us looking at Mitchell/KWP as useful fullback options. Whether they'd accept being back up players I'm not so sure.

Jesus, them people marching with flags in front of a crowd in Munich.

Park Ji Sung was absolutely brilliant for Man Utd. Perhaps not as exciting as someone like Son but he was massive for Man Utd. Certainly a more decorated player than Son.
