I have to say i agree, i really just think he's lost whatever it was had. Including passion for the game.

Who comes in could be players we don't need as Keegan is coming in with a limited knowledge of the current players and can't even watch 4 of those in training, he's relying on what people are telling him so anything could happen in this window. Shearer was saying last night that we need a playmaker to "thread a pass". Hopefully if joins Keegan he can have a word in his lug.
-
Aye, he did say prem experiance not prem players. Thats why i think Van Buyten is someone he's after. I think he's be a quality addition too.
-
The fact you would have Beckham at our club worries me.
-
Tell you who i'd like because he's a great passer and would be (not that moneys an object) reasonabley cheap........ Julio Arca. *Hides*
-
Aye hopefully Kev will see it that way.

I agree. Not that i believe we would have to pay that much mind. 12ish would do IMO. If money isn't an option, both please.

TBF they are both excellent players that have been cursed by either poor management or injuries. Owen on the one hand is a predator, who at his best is one of the greatest finishers on the planet. However, anywhere near his best hasn't been seen by us in a long time. Martins on the other hand is a younger hit and miss striker. When confident he can be as lethal as most in this league. However, alot of his confidence and form has been shot to shit by terrible mis-management. Right now i would choose Martins for two reasons. One i don't think we have seen anywhere near what he is capable of and two he's on his way up in his career, where as Owen isn't.

I think alot of foreign youngsters will know about Keegan but that isn't nessacerily a great thing. I think Keegan's real pull is when he meets the players. I dont think we will see many players have talks with KK then knock us back.

Alot of people saud the same when we signed Owen, Duff and Martins. I agree they are not easy targets but don't try and tell me Bentley is "out of our range". Owen and Martins at the time were out of favour at there clubs and we were the biggest club in for them. If the same happened with one of the above there would be a lot of clubs sniffing. Bentley is probobly not out of our range but it certainly be very difficult to get him. People like King and Richards are out of our range though as Man City and Spurs just wouldn't sell and have the financial muscle to resist us. I'm not claiming they would be easy signings but i don't think as laughable as you think. They are good players at decent clubs. As you say,the fact them have clubs have money, is the real stumbling block.

I was surprised we got Owen but the 3 players you mention were all surplus to requirements at their clubs which is the only reason we got them. People still said we have no chance etc. We have alot to offer players like them. I reckon Bentley would jump at the chance to join us.

Beye's been our best player IMO, i see no reason why we would play him at centre back. Dunne does have pace but thats irrelevant because intelligence is is they key attribute for a centre half. Alongside either Taylor or Faye, we'd be very good IMO. Preferably Taylor so that Faye could play DM. Imagine a back 6 of this: Given Beye Dunne Taylor Enrique Faye Can't see KK playing Faye there long-term. His best position is CB anyway imo and he's probably the best at the club there. He does ok in CM but Keegan will want someone there with more ability I think. I agree and i think it would be for the best aswell, it was just in relation to signing a centre back really. I'm a a big fan of Faye and we would be disapointed if him and Taylor were not given a substantial chance at centre back.
-
Right now it's like this for me; Given Beye Taylor Faye Enrique DM AM RM Zoggy FW Martins I'm not to wrried about the defence because i believe we have a reasonable amount of quality. 4 players : DM- Sissoko or Flamini AM- Van Der Vaart or Diego RW- Bentley or Arteta FW- Ashton or Berbatov

Didn't half score a few goals last season, in the best league in the world, for someone who doesn't know how to play football. Jesus wept.
-
I'd probably start Owen because of his ability to score at and time. However, i believe Martins is more valuable due to his age. Martins is a good striker even though he is only 22. Give him a couple of years good coaching and he'll come on leaps and bounds IMO.

Dunne would be more realistic than Richards and if he's stalling over a contract he may be possible. I'd prefer we were turning our attention to attacking midfield players though.

Has confirmed that him and Keegan have talked about his role at the club and will talk again when Al gets back from Uganda at the end of the week. Sounds like Shearer is up for assistant manager.
-
Peoples perception of Viduka was that he is good in the air, which is why they kept on playing the long ball into him all the time. He isn't that great because he cant jump but he can score with the head due to his intelligence. If the balls played into his feet he's terrfying at times. Hopefully KK will exploit this.
-
Exactly, its pointless having good defenders if they are having to defend for the whole of 90mins. It makes them look stupid.
-
said similar in another thread, mascherano is available too, after the liverpool owners stalled on signing him permanently. Miguel Veloso is another in that vein and has yet to move to a big club, he might be another viana but he seems a lot stronger physically. I take Viana at the moment. Better passer than most of our midfielders.
-
What is positive is that he has them in mind. Which suggests there shall be enquires at least next week. Arteta or Cahill would be pleasant.
-
It's just occured that when Oba gets back he will FINALLY get a chance to play in an attacking 442 alongside a competant striker for a considerable period. I dont think he's had that since he joined despite scoring a fair few last year.

For me it's the centre of midfield that is crying out for someone to make their mark. It hasn't been dominated by anyone since Speed and the current bunch dont look up to it. So priority would be an Elano-esq player, followed closely by a Speed.
