  1. Disagree, last season he was excellent for Boro. He even made pogo tit look a good player. And he's looked rubbish this season. Who Woodgate? He's been in and out of the team this year. Just because he's been in and out doesn't mean he can't look rubbish. True but taking into account how good i believe Woodgate is and the fact that i know he hasn't played many games for them this year, i'm taking a guess that it's down to inconsistancy rather than actually form.
  2. Is this the breakthrough we have all been waiting for? It would have to be at the advice of his scouts, i can't see anyway that KK will have nee aware of him. Is he bald? Thats all i can remember of him.

  5. Swap for Ameobi eh. Would be nice piece of business.
  6. Oh, so close..... http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2008/01/23/boro-fear-united-bid-for-woodgate-72703-20384045/ No cigar. We should have a guess every day at which phrases he is going to use TBH. We should have known that when the source was SSN that it would just be Oliver running his mouth.
  7. Personally i'm jealous of spurs at the moment. They have a great manager and a great style to their play. However, most spurs fans are a bunch of ITK knobs who assume, like scousers, that they know everything about football and we should all listen to them. It doesn't help when you get toss pots like Martin Jol and King Dawson talk tripe on here either.
  8. Money is the key. We can talk all day about how hard it is to get players in during the january window but if you put the right price under the right noses, the choice is yours. It comes down to how much we are willing to fork out on players who's clubs will be reluctant to let them go. Players like Woodgate, Campbell, Ashton, Van Buyten etc all seem plausible and therefore we could get more than one. However if we think we are going to get two or three of Richards, Berbatov and Bentley etc we can forget making any signings. Personally, so far i think the most likely signing is Van Buyten.
  9. Ben Richards, the Butcher of Bakersfield, is more realistic. CAN SOMETHING PLEASE MATERIALISE! thought kk would go frenzy this week, having talked about how we need 3 players this window etc.. Bide your time. Keegan will be doing his magic behind the scenes. It's long since the days that the club anounces every little detail over transfers ala Souness. It would surprise me at all if Keegan is close to sorting a deal out, nor if something came out of the blue in the next few days. I imagine that a few of the players mentioned are on Keegans list, i haven't a clue which ones though.
  10. I certainly wouldn't take him if i thought that his injury record hadnt improved but as pointed outy earlier, he's played a fair few games for boro. Would be great to have him back.
  11. I expect Oliver to be posted on here very soon with; "as i understand, newcastle are prepared to make a bid in attempt to persuade fan favourite...." "sources close to the club told me that keegan is a big admirer of woodgates talents" "i had a phone call last night from someone very close to woodgate, who told me he would jump at the chance"
  12. Any source, or just a gut feeling? Sarcasm i imagine especially since we've never been linked with Diego yet.
  13. Sounds like there could be something in that story because it isn't one that has been vomitted by the rags. I'd love to see Woody back here and i'm convinced he would love to come back.
  14. Especially at the weekend. We could have done with that debutant spark.

    Today's matches.

I've got my fingers firmly crossed that Chelsea win everton and then spuds.
  18. I just think people over rate tactics. Set-pieces, defending or otherwise, aren't tactics except in as much as zonal or man marking. They're set-pieces which are trained or drilled. Tactics are things a team does to fit in with a strategy when defending or attacking in open play. The tactic that we don't give the ball away by hopefully booting it upfield as opposed to keeping possession until we can create a scoring opportunity fits in with the strategy of attacking football a la Keegan, pretty much as it does a la Wenger. Incidentally, what Wenger the genius does in defence is pick two sublimely gifted centre-backs and gives them responsibility for what they do, nothing more. Wenger isn't a tactical genius, he is a genius at grasping what someone is capable of and playing them accordingly. Aye but surely attacking is then "a tactic" which makes Fergy a tactical genious, if that makes sense. It's a strange one but id do agree with what your saying. Tactics can be over used and in actually fact confusing to everyone in football.
  19. Lets not take the piss though tactics are still canny important. More in ste pieces and setting up defences more than anything.
  20. You need all of it in todays game. Fergy and Wenger are massive examples. Fergy on the one hand uses a combination of huge potential signings and a pretty simple but massively effective 442 system. His main priority is having quality players that are highley motivated and this shows on the pitch. Wenger is different. He motivates players, sure but there motivation comes from the fact that most of their players know they are playing for an experianced manager who has won almost everything in a beautiful way. Mainly uses tactics and style of player, i.e signing players that can pass and run and then incoporates that into his football. Both can be very successful but a lack of either will get most managers caught out. On the one hand you can have an Allardyce on the other dare i say you could have a Keegan.
  21. Impressed by Geremi crossing TBH. Could do with a few of those on saturday.

I dont think there are many footballers in the world who stand half a chance against those three.
  23. Thats nothing we didn't really know anyway. Keegans never been great on the tactical front. I think Burridge is actually complimenting him in the interview but who ever has published it has put a bad slant on it.

I reckon Scholes would be a canny scrappy fighter.
