Smiths the type of player that is fine to have in away games against the best sides, where you want to stifle the opposition. At home however, he should be played up top or not at all. For me he's given us more than Viduka has so far this season. He was outstanding against Everton up front with Oba in a simple 442, i suggest we go back to basics.

Think that is fair comment. A don't think hes had a "terrible" game for us yet. In fact i thought he was excellent against Everton.

Btw how do you think Robbo or Dawson played today?? Nothing special TBH. "Robbo's" kicking was woeful (as usual) and Dawson didn't have a bad game defensively but because he scored so he must be the best centre half in the premierleague now eh? He headed the ball, thats his job for f*** sake.

TBF it was obvious that he didn't know where he was playing. He's PROVEN in the past that he is a very capable right back, so i wouldn't pin too much of the blame on him.

Looked good yesterday IMO. Wasn't the reason behind us losing at all. He was never beaten down their right and always made an attempt to get forward.

I'm caught up in two mind sets at the moment. On the one hand, i was happy with the appointment of Sam and content with the seasons performances so far (up until portsmouth). I was pleased with the changes he made throughout the club in the summer and the solid style he was trying to implement. However now half of my brain is saying that the last few performances have been something that you would expect from the likes of Souness and Roeder. Mishaped formations, poor motivation and woeful substitutions. This has really got me wondering whether he is capable. The question is should we stick by him? Personally, i don't see much other choice at the moment. Unless we believe we are going to convince Mourinho, Capello etc to join then it would be a waste of time sacking him. We would be simple firing and hireing like we have done so many times in the past. What i would like to see is the hierarchy at Newcastle to come out and say Sam is the manager for the foreseeable future, this would take pressure off and allow Sam and the players to perform. However, all this wouldn't be needed if Sam picked a simple side and stuck to it.

Thats because i dont see many arrogant Everton fans coming on here claiming other wise. Where as there are some ridiculas Spurs fans think that Dawson is a good player, despite the fact he has done nothing.

The problem with the england players is that they are played as indivduals and not as a team. Most of them are good players at domestic level but thats because they train with their mates everyday of the week. Next manager should be one of: Cappelo Lippi Mourinho Scolari Anything other than this standard will be a failure.

TBH Keane was neither a shit player or had a huge ego. He's just abit of a nutcase, an honest one at that.

Has a good balance to it with Barry and Hargreaves.

I'm just a bit worried as to where the goals will come from, you can't rely on the midfield and Crouch, Cole and SWP aren't exactly prolific against decent teams. I realise Bent isn't either but he is a striker and will get into the positions if the manager allows it and doesn't go out for a draw. The problem i believe alot of managers make is that they look to individuals for goals as apposed to how the team can work to get goals. If we get the balance correct all over the park then i believe goals will come. Crouch is pretty prolific for England and with the system suiting Gerrard and Lampards style of play i think we have enough options in advanced areas to get goals. If it wasn't working out we could bring on players like Bent to make the difference, i'd rather start with a solid foundation.

I'd prefer Bent to SWP in the first one. He's more someone we should be looking to bring on as a sub imo. Bents an out and out striker though. The system i referred to is the one that was created to fit those players who people wern't quite sure what their best position is, like Diouf and Cole. SWP is the closed thing England have to a right sided winger come striker. Apart from Walcott who is with the U21s at th moment.

If Sam starts regularly playing Rozehnal, which i suspect he might, then i'd give it to him. He's sensible and plays in a "captains position". He's got a proffesional attitude which i admire. Second choice would be Barton because he possess' alot of the characteristics of a captain, even though he is missing some.

I don't give a flying fuk if Sunderland outplayed us. Going away from home in the premiership is about picking up results regardless of how we do it. I'm delighted that we've got a point after two losses.

Think this is a load of bollocks TBH. Our performance, players, fitness and confidence have been better therefore it has reflected on our results.
