  1. It was something mentioned on the fan debate Gary Neville does. Something along the lines of they can't continue their spending. It came from Richard Arnold, their CEO but I can't find any original quote. Make no mistake, they aren't hard up but the impression I got was that they need to start boxing smarter.
  2. Apparently Man Utd have ran out of money or at least can't continue to spend at the rate they did in the summer. That should be a red flag to fans because their rebuild is only at phase one. They will have to be very creative in the market.
  3. Bringing Isak off the bench with Maxi would be mint.

Defo Bruce and Souness at the bottom.

Loved to hated: Howe Keegan Robson Rafa Houghton Roeder Shearer (simply because he was a legend) Dalglish Guillit Carver Kinnear Pardew Allardyce Souness Bruce (Pardew is an odd one because I despised him because of the length of time he hung on but he did manage a 5th, he's also been nicer about us in public than Souness).
  6. @Froggy What do you think Man Utds line up will be?
  7. Stadium name change: no. Stadium associated name: yes. Club crest: yes but only if decent. Plenty of other priorities though. I suspect one of his first jobs is getting a training ground sponsor. The training ground itself might be a few years off but a sponsor needs tied down sooner rather than later.
  8. What? I'm not critical of him. I'm pleased he is trying but it was hardly a gold mine of information. Perhaps the papers will have got some better stuff.
  9. Personally didn't learn a thing. He's incredibly well media trained (Eales). Which is perfectly acceptable but doesn't give you anything to chew on. Pleased he was asked about real ales, the newcastle United sign wifi and the loudness of the music though. We will know more when our first big deal lands.
  10. So far their strategy has been virtually impeccable. Here's some ratings for no other reason than I'm bored: Trippier: He's been our talisman. Has been a key reason for our mentality change. 10/10 Wood: Ultimately he's a dud but we were in a tight spot and at least we weakened Burnley. 5/10 Bruno: Second only to De Bruyne in the PL IMO, unreal signing. 10/10 Burn: Versatile, good with his feet, a leader, experienced, great character. Transformed our defence. 8/10 Targett: Solid as a rock. Good lad. Not blessed with attacking instincts but Mr Reliable. 7/10 Pope: Alot of raised eyebrows about whether we needed a GK but he's proven an absolute bargain. 8/10 Botman: Would it be clichéd to say Rolls Royce? 10/10 Isak: Time will tell. From an ambition perspective I will give it a 9/10 A 7/8 strike rate is good going in the world of transfers. Overall they get a 9/10 for transfer performance.
  11. Yeah me too. Also, from a strategic point of view. If we go unchanged, regardless of the result, Eddie has a great reason to play the ones who are left out against Everton. I'd be tempted to play Maxi and Co against Everton and smash them, ensuring the 3 points.
  12. If Leicester sack Rodgers, march up the table to relative safety, ok, Leicester might do business.
  13. Anyone else imagining 3k geordies in Copenhagen etc next year? Shouldn't do it to myself.
  14. Pen. Again, complete accident.
  15. Also Lampard seems to have a degree of empathy and humility towards the fans he manages. There were times last season when he looked genuinely gutted by the situation. Which is bad in the sense that he's not in full control of his emotions but at least he probably cares enough to learn how to fix a problem. Gerrard always comes across as "I know better", after all, what could Gerrard possibly have to learn about the game of football. He is, after all, stevie G.
  16. Tell you what mind, I absolutely fucking love @brummie . Comes in here bashes Bruce, bashes Gerrard. Proper football fan, who knows his stuff and doesn't suffer PFM fools. I don't want Villa to do well but I hope they sack Gerrard so that our Brummie doesn't have to go through this misery.
  17. I think we will be reluctant to do business in January unless a deal really works. I just can't see Leicester budging on the Maddison situation. I understand his contract is running down but it didn't stop them from keeping a hold of Tielemans. Also, given how utterly shite they are, can they really afford to lose Maddison in January? They'd almost certainly get relegated IMO. Diaby is a different one. I suspect Leverkusen are much more accepting to the fact they have to keep selling to keep finances coming in. In Germany, only Bayern can afford not to sell. I'm still not convinced we will sign either of them in January. Its much more probable that we will look to South America or even go back in for Joao Pedro. Next summer we will certainly go big on 3/4 Botman/Isak types.
  18. I can't see anything other than a good performance from us, even if we get beaten. My prediction is 2-1 or 1-2. We will score first.
  19. If any of our players get disgruntled because Bruno earns more than them they want a serious look in the mirror. Let's see how far a policy of paying players 100k a week takes us. It takes us to losing our best players, that's where. We will CERTAINLY lose Bruno if we refuse to give him more money within the next 18 months. It's not about players being greedy either, it's about players wanting paid their worth. How can we call Bruno the best midfielder on the planet and then pay him a quarter of the going rate?
  20. Roy Keane was saying positive things but his eyes were showing him screaming inside.
  21. I don't know if its been said yet but the Bruno situation will be one helluva test for our new owners. If we end up selling him for 100m, do we reinvest like Spurs did after Bale or Liverpool did after Coutinho? We've seen how little money 100m actually is, in reality. I'd be putting a new contract on the table very soon. Double his salary and add a year to his deal.
  22. Totally disagree. We are a better football side with Shelvey in the side over someone like Longstaff. Willock is edging himself ahead in the pecking order but that's because he has dynamic running which noone else in our squad has. Shelvey is going to be crucial when we have European football and we need to rotate the squad.
  23. Craig Hope trying to sell him, I see.
