  1. Amongst the bullshit and cryarsing, sometimes there is a chink of light on this forum.
  2. Any wife who isn't willing to leave in the North East for a couple of days a week for 5 years whilst earning a gazillion quid a year wants a divorced pronto. I also think it's absolute bollocks BTW. The reason players/managers edge towards London is because Arsenal, Spurs and even West Ham haven't been ambitionless voids for the last 15 years. Funny how Manchester is manageable. Perhaps when we do lure a star like Wijnaldum, we match their ambitions on the pitch. Or perhaps when we do convince Modric to look around the training ground, it's not a dilapidated mess and we don't tell his agent he is too small to play in the PL. It's those things that make us unattractive, it's nowt to do with the North East weather.
  3. It's clear now, why they weren't in a rush to bin Bruce. They knew they wouldn't have anyone in anyway. They probably knew that sacking Bruce would have little impact on the pitch, so long as his coaching team was still here.
  4. Yep. People screaming that we need someone in for Brighton, as if a manager can make such an impact in a few days. An international break was always going to be key to any appointment.

Aye, kicked it out several times. We always had a full back available to play out from the back but no, more defending please.

Jones wants binning simply for telling Darlow to hoof it.
  7. Not everyone and few sensible people.
  8. Villa are in big trouble IMO. Grealish was making them look good.
  9. Let's say it's John Terry, or even Wayne fucking Rooney, in a worst case scenario (I hope ), I will still pledge to get behind them. It's not because I rate them, or because I think they would be a good choice even in the medium term, but because if by me and other fans getting behind them we get an extra 5% out of the team and somehow stay up, it will be a great thing. Once we have got through this season, we can see where we are, see what recruitment is needed and see whether the decision they made was the right one. This isn't MAs NUFC anymore, they aren't going to stick by some clown while we sink into the abyss. We also have to accept the potential for mistakes. That doesn't mean they shouldn't take criticism, just that it needs a caveat beside it. They want what's best for us, I believe, that's enough for me... for now.

You can always count on someone losing a few games. The issue is us not winning them.

Yes but your inference is that they are just messing around, which there is no evidence of and that a change in manager would have seen a different result against Chelsea, which I'm doubtful of. If we don't have someone by Brighton, let's talk.
  12. It sounds romantic but do you honestly think that is the way anyone with a modicum of sense would approach appointing a new manager?
  13. Wew. NORWICH might win this now.
  14. Shouldn't be touching him in that scenario.
  15. 42% win ratio at Everton, finished 5th before being sacked (the season previous), got them into 2 semi finals too. I'm not advocating for him, I'm just throwing out there the idea that Favre or Fonseca may not have faired better.
  16. I still think Gerrard would be a better "impact" manager. Sometimes you need a personality and a statesman, as much as a coach. Could someone like Gerrard motivate the players, in the short term, better than a Favre or Fonseca type? Not that it will be Gerrard like. Just sparking food for thought.
  17. Is Martinez "shit" though? Or is it worth taking some perspective? He's not my preference either but I think it's a fair to suggest that Favre or Fonseca represent and equal risk. In fact, some might suggest that Martinez at least know the league, for whatever that's worth. Devils advocate.

Jones comments on Fed are really alarming. Is it so hard to say, "I select players how I see fit." Keep your mouth shut because comments like that come back and bite you in the arse.
  19. I try never to tell a club how they should feel about their manager. There's so many variables to what success looks like. From the outside its easy to say it looks like he's doing OK but the reality can often be different. No club should hire a manager which the fans aren't fussed about. It's the same reason why Rafa will never win over Everton.
  20. Wrong thread but the idea that the might sell us is absolutely ridiculous.
  21. They can all get a side keeping possession, knock the ball about but are soft defensively and have little conviction?
