  1. After 30 seconds, I knew he was better than Pope with his feet. Pope couldn't do that stuff in a million years. There's stuff Pope is very good at too though, which Ramsdale will have to step up to.
  2. What we reckon the option fee is? Given weve shelled out 4m on the loan, im thinking 14 to make it permanent?
  3. Weve been down, weve been battered and weve been quite frankly embarrassed at times, but god dammit we still know where the fax machine is and we are prepared to use it.... theres a long way to in this transfer window and I would love it if we somehow came out on top, love it.
  4. I know this account falls somewhere between reliable and twitter bullshit but whoever it is, certainly isnt a Newcastle fan but seems to rate Ramsdale. Its one of those deals which will look great in the fullness of time. I know im in the minority but im pleased with this move. Its a much needed fresh face. I suspect we will claw a bit of that 4m back on Dubravka or Greek fellas wages if he goes, so its likely to cost us very little.
  5. I dont know the figures but id imagine we have dozens if not 100s of more people working at the club. We do have a void, which needs addressed but to make similarities between this and the MA era is not just disingenuous but full on shit stirring.
  6. Hes completely wrong. Unless we assume the only people at a football club are a CEO and a DOF.
  7. For context, watch his video. I think he sums everything up pretty well. He actually says that the people that are at the club day to day are good people.
  8. Noone is above criticism. Weve been in for more than Ekitike abroad. Ramsdale isnt "shit". Hes better than Dubravka. And signing Ramsdale actually frees up money, rather than wastes it because its a loan. Apart from that you nailed it.
  9. I cant tell you how much money id knock off his fee to prevent him playing in this league.
  10. Out of interest? A) Liverpool now for 140m B) PSG (or someone else abroad) next year for 120 Selling abroad would be a massive win for us.
  11. Aye exactly. I have the opposite opinion. Make him stay a year and demand the same money those clubs thought they could sign him for this year. Also next summer, there will be more than Liverpool. Offer him to PSG with minus 10% for good will.
  12. They dont give names, they dont give prices, they have no clue on the attitude or personality of these mystery players but apart from that...
  13. I see we are doing the whole "Howe only likes British based players" bullshit again. Cool. Tried to sign Ekitike, are trying to sign Sesko, we were linked with that French goalkeeper who went to PSG, plus 3 CB from Italy, France and Spain. Also, "why aren't we signing mystery player x from abroad who im sure is better and cheaper than Ramsdale". No names. Never names.
  14. Coming from the Southampton end. It was Darmesh who first called it, i think and hes a southern nonce.
  15. Ive barely checked in on this one because I just can't see it. If Man United are interested, not only does that mean they will offer the player more money but it also means that his club will start playing us off one another and the fee will go up.
  16. Fair points. I suppose its the part we dont know. For example, im fairly sure the club told Dubravka that they would allow him to leave this summer when they signed a keeper. Its this background that meant we pretty much had to sign a keeper and, of course, make sure it was some sort of upgrade, even if a minor one. I'll be flabbergasted is Dubravka stays.
  17. Its not the most important point but its a point i want to make anyway... Regardless of the quality, i.e even if we do a couple of like for like transfers that dont take us forward loads but at the very least keep us ticking, its absolutely vital that we have fresh faces in the squad. The squad was getting noticeably stagnant with the same faces. There is a fine line between a tight knit group and a group that loses its spark. Perhaps its just me but Elanga seems have a visible impact to the dynamics of the group and Ramsdale (whether you rate him or not) is a real good character, who will offer similar freshness. We need more than just fresh faces, but we absolutely do need fresh faces.
  18. Literally yesterday I was pleading that the club didnt solely focus on the Wissa/striker situation and tried to get other deals done. So im pleased they've done that. Again, CB is the one for me. Please fucking sign a CB.
  19. I'd have said somewhere around new year but yes, it would have been a transition. I know you dont rate Ramsdale and that's fine, I won't try and convince you otherwise but I'll make a prediction that alot of opinions of him change by the end of the season.
  20. Im not saying you but wasnt this whole window about having greater depth? In goalkeeping terms, noone has a good 3rd choice and IMO Dubravka will leave. So I think we are in a better place. Weve got better depth at RW, which was crucial. None of that will mean anything if we dont get a CB, CM and sort the striker mess out. In isolation, our goalkeeper department is healthy. I know we all want a better keeper long term but clearly its having to wait.
  21. I actually thought after Trafford that we might gamble and go into the window as we were, as far as goalkeepers, so im pleased that the club have at least tried to freshen things up.
  22. Well I can't prove it now but I completely disagree. Pope would have started and eventually Trafford would have taken his place. Its also the view of a fair few journalists who were following the deal.
  23. Im not sure what the point you are making here and perhaps it's just a case of not agreeing but Pope and Ramsdale is significantly better than Pope and Dubravka. Elanga is a good signing, Ramsdale would be decent one (although not in the context of Trafford) but ultimately the success of our window will come down to whether we can pull 2 or 3 more players out of the bag. I don't think anyone is confident we will.
  24. Trafford was never coming in to start ahead of Pope anyway. He was a long term target and weve clearly shelved the idea of signing a long term young keeper, for a short term solution. I really like Ramsdale the person, by all accounts hes well liked in footy, and I dont think hes the naive kid he was at Arsenal. Hes got battle scars now. If anyone can get Ramsdale to his absolute best, its Howe. Hes not the long term solution to our goalkeeper spot but we dont actually have problem at GK. If Trafford signs we will have 2 really solid keepers. Once weve actually got our recruitment act together, we can look for another goalkeeper for the long term.
  25. Hes miles better than Dubravka. Some people are mental.
